“Couldn't be happier with India's service! We were a bit apprehensive about leaving our senior dog Gabby overnight as she's recently gone blind and is still adjusting to our new house. We knew right away that we didn't have to worry as India was very calm, patient, and understanding. She sent me frequent updates and pictures so I could see how Gab was getting on, and we came home to a very happy and well looked after pooch. Highly recommend and will certainly be booking again in the future!”

“Alfie was terrific. He stepped in at less than 24 hours notice fir a week’s stay looking after our two dogs when a longstanding arrangement fell through. He was responsive from the first communication and throughout our time away sent regular updates and pics of the dogs, who clearly were devoted to him. It was reassuring to have the dogs and house in such cheery hands, and hope to book him again.”

“This is the second time Colin and Christina have looked after our dogs Odin and Tilly. We now have no qualms about leaving our home and our dogs with these sitters. They are brilliant.”

“What a delightful young lady. My two poodles were so happy for Hannah to be looking after them, they hardly made a fuss of me when I returned home! She sent a daily update with photos - it was all simply perfect. She is completely trustworthy and reliable, which is hugely important when handing over your home and pets. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Hannah again.”

“Oscar was a wonderful pet sitter for Biscuit. He stayed in our home with her for 2 weeks while we were away on holiday and he took her on lots of lovely outings/adventures and took care of her like his own. He sent updates and we were able to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing our beloved dog was safe and happy. (He also took wonderful care of our two gerbils and fishtank.) I will definitely be booking with him again. He also went above and beyond to do a few things around the house for us - like I forgot to cancel my Simmer order for the second week and he unpacked it and put it in the freezer for me and he tidied up the dog poo in the garden which I definitely did not expect. We came home to a happy and healthy dog who after greeting us also ran back to him to excitedly tell him we were back. Which to me just proves she'd developed a good bond with him.”

“I would highly recommend Helen, my puppy Atlas had a wonderful day in her care. Helen’s communication is great, we initially setup a meet and greet and we discussed everything in detail about his routine. It was really clear to me that Helen takes a lot of care and attention to really understand yours and the puppy’s requirements. Helen came and house sit for the day to make sure that Atlas wasn’t left alone - when I came back it was clear to me how much time she must’ve spent interacting and playing with him through out the day as he was incredibly responsive to her voice. Thank you Helen !!”

“Maria looked after our three year-old lab Coral for two weeks over the New Year and into January, house sitting and looking after Coral from our home. Maria was absolutely fantastic, sending updates and photos every day and we could not have been happier. I’m pretty sure Coral is missing Maria today now we’re home! Thank you again, Maria for your loving care and attention, for looking after Coral from home which is the best place for her as she can keep to her usual walks and routines. I highly recommend Maria’s dog sitting service.”

“Diana is an excellent pet sitter! We were lucky to had found her. She came to see our pets twice before staying at ours for a week. She sent daily updates and photos. She left the house clean and tidy. We are definitely contacting Diana again if we ever need help with our fur babies and we are 100% recommending Diana to our friends too!”

“Booking Simon to look after our old-age choc lab, Millie, was a great decision. He came round prior and you could instantly see his affinity with dogs, which Millie tail-waggingly reciprocated. While we were away, we got regular updates and photos. Simon looked after her daily medicine needs, and the house was left in spotless condition. I can thoroughly recommend his services. We'll be using him again, that's for sure. Thanks, Simon!”
“Jo took exceptional care of my boy, Benji, while I was on holiday. He was happy, content, and clearly well looked after. The photos she sent really showed how much she cared for him. Before the stay, Joanna even took the time to visit and get to know Benji on his terms, asking thoughtful questions about his needs—and meeting every one of them throughout. I would absolutely recommend Joanna to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter. Benji would too—especially as he thoroughly enjoyed his unlimited carrots!”

“Luke recently house sat and looked after our pets for a week whilst we were abroad. At first I was a little nervous as have never used Rover before- we liked Luke’s profile and he was super responsive from the instant we reached out, despite being abroad himself at the time! He was empathetic and polite, warm and professional and answered all questions honestly. As we were entrusting our home to him, he was more than happy to come over to meet the dogs and see the house before we went ahead. He was punctual, polite, down to earth and clearly great with our two cockapoos! During the stay he sent regular updates & pics on WhatsApp and even offered to pick up a few supplies for us so we didn’t have an empty fridge to come back to! It gave us great peace of mind to have him house sit and I’d recommend him - we will be booking again!”

“Jake came to stay overnight for us when we were away. He turned up on time and I felt really confident that the house and Zeus world be in excellent hands while we are away. He kept in regular contact with us and when we returned it was clear that he had taken really good care of Zeus and the house. Would recommend and look forward to Jake coming back to help us again.”

About: Your Experience I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and have always had a huge love for them. Unfortunately, now that I’m an adult, my lifestyle doesn’t allow me to have a dog of my own, so I love getting my dog fix by looking after everyone else’s! I’m the designated sitter for my sister and two friends, regularly looking after their dogs whenever they go away for weekends or holidays. I also walk my neighbour’s dog in the evenings when they’re working late. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs of all shapes, sizes and personalities, whether that means long walks, playing, keeping them company or simply giving them plenty of attention and cuddles. I’m also a regular runner, so if your dog is particularly energetic and needs more than a gentle stroll, I’m more than happy to give them the exercise they need. Every dog is different, and I’m very happy to follow whatever routine, exercise and care your dog is used to. My priority is making sure they feel happy, safe and well cared for while you’re away. I work full-time during the week, but I’m available for morning and evening walks, weekend care and overnight stays when arranged in advance. If your stay away is during the week I’m available to work from home. I’m active and regularly go running and walking, so I’m very happy to fit your dog’s usual exercise routine into my day. I’m flexible and will always work around their individual needs and your schedule. Your dog’s safety and happiness will always be my priority. I’ll make sure walks are calm, enjoyable and suited to your dog’s individual needs, age and energy levels. I’m experienced with dogs and understand the importance of following their usual routines, boundaries and instructions. I’ll keep you updated during walks and treat your dog with the same care and attention I would give my own. Your home will also be treated with respect and left secure and exactly as I found it. Above all, I want you to feel completely comfortable knowing your dog is in safe, caring hands while you’re away.

“Hannah was a perfect fit to look after my very large dog. She made sure his needs came first, including circumnavigating the heatwave to safely walk him. Hannah took the time to find out everything she needed to know about the dog, house and garden. I knew all were in safe hands.”

About: Welcome all! After sadly losing our own beloved family dog, we have decided to join the site with the hopes of once again filling our home with the joy only animals can bring. Accumulating ten years of dedicated dog-sitting experience, which encompasses both our own beloved pets and others, my partner and I offer a reliable and loving home-away-from-home for your furry family member. We understand the importance of routine, safety, and abundant cuddles, and we're committed to providing your dog with a comfortable, happy stay while you're away. You can relax knowing your beloved companion is in experienced, caring hands. I am currently only studying at university so I am at home every day until July 9th where I begin to start part time, weekend only work. My partner Kane works full time on shift work, so there’s usually someone at home for most of the day. We have a fenced garden, and a house that the pet is free to roam around in. “Joana has looked after our 3 dogs loads of times now and they absolutely love seeing her every time! She is great at communicating, always on time and the dogs are always happy to spend time with her.”

“A big thanks to Charlotte for taking care of our two whippets for the day. She arrived promptly and took everything in her stride. I was certain they were in safe hands and would definitely ask her again, if needed. Would also definitely recommend her to anyone else. Thanks again, Charlotte. I think you have two new best friends.”

We had such a wonderful experience with Julliet. She looked after our two cats over the weekend, and we couldn’t have been happier. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and caring, and kept us updated throughout the day with lots of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Julliet also took amazing care of our home and left everything in perfect condition. Most importantly, when we came back, both cats looked happy, relaxed, and very well cared for. It was clear they had been in great hands! We would absolutely recommend Julliet and would be more than happy to have her look after our cats again. Thank you so much, Julliet!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Rutland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rutland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
