“Melina was our first Rover experience and she made the process so welcoming. We'd never left our dog overnight with someone he didn't know – he's anxious, reactive and has separation anxiety, so it was important to us that we worked with with someone who understands and is patient with him. Melina was all of that and more! Within hours she had him snuggling up to her, and by the evening he was sleeping curled up next to her head. We got regular updates throughout the stay (including pictures) and felt so at-ease knowing he was well cared for. We would absolutely recommend Melina as a Rover, and especially for anyone with a special needs dog or a shy pup. She was amazing!”

“Shannon and Rocky were awesome! Our dog, Peanut, is 14 years old and needs more care than a younger pup. We were also gone for an extended period of time (10 days) which is unusual for us. Shannon and Rocky went above and beyond to make sure Peanut was comfortable, engaged and well cared for. They administered medications, cooked eggs and beef to top the dog food (how we get our dog to eat her food), and walked her at her own pace, which is often slow. Peanut requires a bit more work at her age and Shannon and Rocky were so lovely about it. We received updates and it was reassuring. Peanut seemed happy to be there, and we wouldn't hesitate to leave Peanut with them again.”

About: I enjoyed house-sitting for various friends and family through college. I grew up owning a dog, and my ASD-focused high school had a weekly dog class requirement that, in addition to simple training classes, used dogs as a metaphor for understanding nonverbal communication. Because of that, I can easily intuit how animals are feeling in a given moment. I always approach cats and dogs with a calm persona, trying to meet them on their level. Happy to be either a cuddle buddy or a meal ticket! I was recently laid off from my 9-5, and I’ve decided to switch my gears for a while. I’m available almost full-time. However, I am a freelance musician with an infrequent and unpredictable performance schedule. I’ll always strive to keep my availability as up-to-date as possible to avoid any potential surprises. As I stated previously, I’m always working to make any animal feel safe around me, and that they can trust me. When I first meet a cat or dog, I always kneel to meet them at their level. At home, I live simply. I’m not ashamed to call myself a homebody. I do practice frequently, but I can take measures to greatly reduce my volume or simply avoid practice during an extended stay, pending any future gigs. I live in a condo right on the estuary, with a walking path that leads right to Jack London Sq. There are other dog owners in the building. It’s a good community, and right by Estuary Park. I may not have a backyard, but it’s a darn good compromise.
