About: I’ve been caring for animals for over 10 years, starting as a teenager when I began pet sitting for family friends and neighbors, and I’ve loved it ever since. My primary experience is caring for dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, and temperaments, from energetic puppies and playful kittens to senior pets who need a slower, more gentle routine. I treat every dog and cat in my care like they’re my own, focusing on their comfort, safety, and happiness while you’re away. I tailor care to each pet’s needs, whether that means walks, playtime, enrichment, structured routines, or quiet companionship. I also have experience administering oral medications and injections when needed. I have additional hands-on experience with small pets and other animals, including birds and reptiles, which has strengthened my overall understanding of animal behavior and care. No matter the pet, I provide reliable, attentive care so they feel secure and well cared for in your absence. I’m currently a teacher on summer break and looking forward to spending my days doing something I truly enjoy—caring for animals! My schedule is very flexible, allowing me to provide attentive, consistent pet care throughout the day. I provide care exclusively in clients’ homes so pets can remain in their familiar, comfortable environment. I prioritize maintaining their normal routines and creating a calm, low-stress presence, and I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible in the home so pets feel safe and at ease while their owners are away.
“Melissa was great, She arrived on time or early. She fed the cats according to my schedule. She updated me with photos. She even put my dishes up and took my trash out to the curb.”

“There are not enough words for how amazing Fen was to our Luca! Between the constant communication and photo updates and just truly making sure Luca had the absolute best time during her stay with him. It made us so happy to hear how much she also enjoyed her time and you truly tell. We were so blessed to have her! Luca would definitely love to have her company again ANYTIME!”

“Taylor was a wonderful pet sitter. Took great care of my anxious dog and cat, staying overnight at our house for most of a week. Followed instructions to a T with my dog’s medication and needs for going outside. Left the house clean and in great shape. Would have her back anytime we need pet sitting.”

“Mariah was fantastic! Our nervous dog has a hard time when we leave and Mariah was so great with him! He was nervous at first but warmed up quickly and was happy to follow her everywhere. She sent regular updates, left the house in perfect condition, and even left a little “doggy report card” which was so nice to come home to. We will definitely be using her again!”

About: I’ve helped out family friends and neighbors with their furry friends through home visits, overnight pet sitting, and helping with getting their energy out. I have been aiding those in my community since I was in high school and continue to do so when I am back in Troy. I am currently a college student, however I find joy in helping out others when I’m in town. I’m certified in Red Cross and StarGuard life guarding and am no stranger to safety! Although my certifications apply to humans, I can apply these skills to ensuring safety of your furry friends. I have worked with family members with their own pets as therapy animals and engaged in care and listed regiments for numerous dogs I’ve watched over. I am no stranger to dogs, having had 4 dogs within my home growing up and having my fair share taking care of them. I am great with following rules and specifications given to me, especially when it comes to caring for pets; they are family and deserve to be treated as such. I work outside and I am no stranger to the sun! I am more than willing to take a pup around the block or lay with them in the sun to give them some fresh air; even in rain we can walk together and towel off later. Rain doesn’t stop the zoomies! Although I do not have as much professional experience with pets as some others, I hope to be given a chance with my life filled with pets and genuine care and compassion for helping others with how busy life can get. Take your vacation, worry less about your furry friends having their needs met, call on me as someone eager and determined to help! I currently work a part-time seasonal job as a lifeguard at the local aquatic center. My schedule varies week to week, however I have days off and variance within the week that leaves me free within the morning/afternoon. On the days with long shifts, I am unable to leave work, however on other days I am available for whatever is needed! I am an early riser and tend to go to sleep later, therefore any early mornings for late nights will not be a problem for the care I can provide. It would be preferred to care for your pets within your own home, however I do not expect to stay the night or be cared for. I have a place of my own, although if needed, staying the night is not a problem. I am more than willing to travel to your home to meet your pet there to care for them. I do have a dog within my home, however he is a recent rescue and for your own pets safety as well as the utmost care being provided, bring them to my own home is not applicable. He is a friendly pup, however any potential negative interactions is something I would like to avoid to keep your pet safe. I will come to you, no problem at all!
“Kateri (Rebekah) was amazing! We will definitely have her back! She took excellent care of our goldendoodle, sent pictures/updates every day, and went above and beyond to take care of our house while we were gone. We couldn’t have asked for anything more!”

“Bonnie is amazing. She took extra special care of our fur baby and our home. She went above and beyond. She sent pictures and texts assuring us that all was well. We would highly recommend Bonnie! We will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Miguel is the ABSOLUTE BEST! He stayed with my 2 boxers both rescues and one still a little fearful of new people so Miguel came by for 2 visits before staying with them. Miguel gave them their medications and followed all instructions, communication was great and sent pics. Booking him for two more future trips! Thanks again Miguel! Highly recommend!”

“We’ve found Adam to house sit our two dogs. From the initial meet and greet to weekend long house sitting, Adam good good care of our senior dogs and left our place as it was. He listened to our requests and needs and made notes. He communicated with photos each day and it was so helpful to know the dogs were happy and well with him. I would use Adam again and would recommend him to anyone who’s looking for a reliable dog sitter .”

“Lauren was wonderful with our senior dogs. She was sensitive to their needs and did a great job caring for them in our home. She responded quickly to text messages and checked in daily. Thank you, Lauren!”

“Lucky for us, we chose Jaclyn who was a perfect match for our senior pup. She came to meet him before we left and he warmed up to her calm demeanor instantly. She sent photos while we were away and was quick to respond back to messages. We hate leaving our big guy but it’s good to know we have a trusted sitter nearby. Thank you Jaclyn!”
“Gracie was absolutely amazing with our two pups! We were given updates and pictures all throughout the day and never had to worry about a thing when we were out of town. We have used this service a lot and haven’t had anyone that can hold a candle to how great Gracie was! Will definitely be calling her again in the future!”

“Alex has been extremely professional and is very responsive. After her recent stay over the house was left in good condition, she sent regular updates of our dogs (with pictures!) and overall has been a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be booking again in the future!”

“Heather was great for our overnight trip. She sent plenty of picture and updates on the animals through her entire stay. We had never left the animals with someone they didn't know for an overnight trip so we were a bit nervous on how things would go. It went so well that we will be using her again for a trip in the near future.”

“Nicole was great. She sat for my 3 yr old golden and my son in law’s 16 year old husky mix. She stayed at our house and helped with lite jobs around the house like watering plants and taking out garbage. She also communicated with us daily about how the dogs were doing and things around the house. She was prompt, attentive and responsible. Hi recommend her highly and will use her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Troy
Rey is a kind quiet person and with that said, I had concerns with our youngest dog Izzy. Izzy is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, only 2 years old and quite feisty. She is still in field training and Dad is her "person" so I wondered if she would "own" Rey. Jack is our Lab and easy as can be. Rey did great. Lots of messages and photos... A+ for Rey!

Juliet was an amazing sitter! If ever I need a sitter again I will definitely be in touch. She spent time walking and playing fetch with Guppy Goose and kept her company while we were away. Trust was built pretty quickly, partly due to her great communication! Thanks Juliet!

This was our second time having Lisa check in our guinea pig, Storm, while we were on vacation. Storm was comfortable with her right away, and she shared the cutest photos. Lisa took extra time and care around the house. Would gladly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for trustworthy and reliable pretty care. 😊

Absolutely amazing experience! Annie went above and beyond caring for my dog and my home. I received frequent updates and tons of adorable pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My dog looked happy and well cared for in every photo. When I returned home, the house was spotless—just as I left it. I truly appreciate the level of care, communication, and attention to detail. I will definitely be booking again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving sitter!”

Katherine was absolutely wonderful with our dogs, Bentley and Ellie! From the moment she arrived, she was caring, attentive, and made us feel completely at ease leaving them in her care. She followed all instructions perfectly, including giving medications, and sent us thoughtful updates and pictures while we were away. The dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved while with her. We’re so grateful for the peace of mind she gave us and will definitely be booking with her again. Highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Troy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Troy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Troy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Troy. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
