About: I've had animals of all kinds growing up, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hedgehog, rabbit, hamster, turtles, crawfish ect. I have been working at a horse barn for 6 years and a kennel that has primarily dogs but some cats as well for 4 years. I'm also certified in dog CPR! I work a full time job from 6:30am-3pm on Monday - Friday. If you live in Troy I can let the dog out to potty in the middle of the day on my 30 minute lunch break! I promise to send lots of pictures of the fur babies! I love to spoil them like my own, I will give updates as much or as little as you like!

About: I've had dogs for as long as I can remember. I started raising dogs while I was still living with my parents decades ago, and looking back, I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when I didn't have a dog by my side. I've raised my dogs from about 8 weeks old through every stage of their lives. My current dog, Wrigley, is a Golden Retriever who is now over 9 years old. I recently retired, which gives me the time and flexibility to give your dog the attention, care, and companionship they deserve. I'm not looking to simply keep busy — I genuinely enjoy being around dogs and spending time with them. Over the years, I've learned how to understand dogs, handle them confidently, and care for them with patience, caution, and respect. Whether it's going for a walk, playing, providing companionship, or simply making sure they're comfortable and safe, I enjoy the responsibility that comes with caring for someone's pet. When your dog is with me, my goal is simple: to treat them with the same patience, attention, and care that I would want for my own dog. My schedule is very flexible, and I'm available throughout the week, including weekends. I'm confident we can arrange a schedule that fits both your needs and mine. I provide pet care in the comfort of your pet's own home, along with walks, playtime, and plenty of attention. If it's a good fit for your pet's needs, we also have access to a secure, fenced dog park in our Troy community where they can safely exercise, socialize, and have fun.

Laura was awesome! I didn't win my golf tournament today, but at least I only had one thing to blame: my golf game. Knowing Bravo was safe and happy made the day a whole lot less stressful. Bravo can be a bit particular about his people, and he gave Laura his stamp of approval almost immediately. Either she's a natural with dogs, or he was hypnotized by the red hair. I'm still investigating. She kept me updated, took great care of him, and let me enjoy my round without wondering if my dog was plotting his escape or teaching the neighborhood squirrels bad habits. If you're looking for someone to watch your dog, Laura is fantastic. Five stars from me and two paws up from Bravo.

Taylor was a wonderful pet sitter. Took great care of my anxious dog and cat, staying overnight at our house for most of a week. Followed instructions to a T with my dog’s medication and needs for going outside. Left the house clean and in great shape. Would have her back anytime we need pet sitting.

About: Animals have always been an important part of my life, and I enjoy spending time with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I’m patient, responsible, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that’s going for walks, playing, sticking to feeding schedules, or simply keeping them company. I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pet, because I have a pet of my own. I’ll always treat them with the same care and respect I treat my own. I’m reliable, communicative - I work two customer service jobs - and committed to making sure every pet feels safe, and loved while you’re away. I’m currently working part time, so I’m available in the afternoons most of the time, and I’m very flexible with times and days. I like to feel active and take dogs on walks because it’s a great activity for all parties involved! Your pet’s safety and happiness are my absolute top priorities. When in your home, I would love to take your fur babies for walks, to dog parks, anything you already do with them to make them the most comfortable! I love sending photo and video updates throughout the day so you always know your pet is having a blast and is in great hands!

We can’t say enough nice things about Miguel! We feel so lucky to have him taking care of our dogs. We always appreciate his frequent updates and pictures. We can rest easy while gone knowing he’s taking great care of them and playing all the fetch! We were delayed and not able to make it back an extra night and he was so accommodating. It was such a relief to know he was there. Can’t recommend him enough! He’s the absolute best!

Olivia was our first experience with Rover and having anyone watch our dog outside of our family. She made us feel comfortable the entire time and was great about sending at least a couple of updates everyday. Our dog ended up having unexpected stomach issues and Olivia handled it with ease even monitoring her and waking up with her in the middle of the night. She left the house cleaner than when we left. We cannot recommend Olivia enough!

About: Hi! I’m a dependable and compassionate pet sitter with hands on experience caring for animals of all ages, sizes, and personalities. During high school, I worked at an animal hospital where I learned about animal behavior, handling techniques, and the importance of providing attentive, individualized care. In addition to my experience, I’ve cared for many dogs and cats through pet sitting and understand how important it is to keep pets comfortable, safe, and happy while their owners are away. Whether your dog is a playful puppy, a senior companion, or anything in between, I’m committed to treating them like family. Because I work from home, I have the flexibility to provide plenty of attention, companionship, potty breaks, playtime, and regular updates throughout the day. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your pet is receiving loving, reliable care in a safe environment. I work from home full-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to provide attentive, consistent care throughout the day. Because I’m home, your pet won’t be left alone for long periods and will receive plenty of companionship, potty breaks, playtime, meals, and attention. I can also easily accommodate your pet’s normal routine to help them feel comfortable while you’re away. I believe every pet deserves individualized care based on their personality and routine. I take the time to get to know each pet so they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether your pet enjoys walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure their needs are met. I follow all feeding schedules, administer medications if needed, keep litter boxes and living areas clean, and provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own.

Another great experience with Cynthia! We were gone for about six days, and she stayed at our home and took such great care of our three dogs! She truly gives them a “top dog“ experience! Actively engaging with them in play, and took them for a couple of walks as well which we know is a big task with three dogs! Came home to a nice clean house and happy pups! So glad to have someone we trust when we are out of town!

We were nervous about leaving our dog, Chloe, for a week with a sitter for the very first time, but Krista did a great job!. She sent us lots of photos while we were gone and reached out if she had questions or needed clarity on anything regarding Chloe‘s daily routines. She cleaned up the house and left everything neat and tidy. We would definitely use her

Rey is a kind quiet person and with that said, I had concerns with our youngest dog Izzy. Izzy is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, only 2 years old and quite feisty. She is still in field training and Dad is her "person" so I wondered if she would "own" Rey. Jack is our Lab and easy as can be. Rey did great. Lots of messages and photos... A+ for Rey!

FAQs for House Sitting - Troy

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Troy on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 2,061 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Troy. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Troy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Troy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Troy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Troy. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
