“We can't say enough about Melissa. We were leaving during snow and ice for a long time planned vacation. Melissa made it to our home, took care of our pets and even went above and beyond to make sure we didn't worry while on vacation. She sent videos and pics daily, stayed in touch with us and we appreciate how happy our pets were. Thank you thank you thank you!”

“Alexandra is amazing. This is our 4th or 5th booking. She provides exceptional care every time along with pictures and lots of cuddles for my babies. My chi loves her more than she loves me.”

About: I’ve been animal sitting for about a year and a half now I love doggy babies! My experience goes from boarding at the owner’s house for up to three weeks or just drop in visits whatever’s needed of me. I can move my schedule around for you! If your dog likes to chill I can chill if they like to play let’s play! I currently work part-time and I’m not in school so I’m able to move my schedule around to fit the needs of others! As long as it’s the day I have available While I don’t have a dog I’m able to learn whatever is required to be meet your dogs needs. If they need help all I need is for you to tell me how to help them and they’ll be taken care of!
“Another huge thank you to Cynthia for taking care of our 3 fur-kids! Not only did she give them lots of play time and attention per usual, but we last-minute changed the booking from her home to ours due to some issues one of our dogs was having. She was very understanding and flexible. One of our dogs is having some issues that we aren’t sure of the cause yet, and she kept a great eye on him and kept us informed while we were away. It was hard to leave him not knowing how he would do while we were away, but Cynthia took charge of the situation and unfortunately had to deal with a severe stomach issue with him while we were gone. We spoke on the phone a couple of times about it and she continued to monitor it. Was comforting to know she was tuned in to him and just dogs in general! Thank you again Cynthia!”

About: Animals have always been an important part of my life, and I enjoy spending time with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I’m patient, responsible, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that’s going for walks, playing, sticking to feeding schedules, or simply keeping them company. I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pet, because I have a pet of my own. I’ll always treat them with the same care and respect I treat my own. I’m reliable, communicative - I work two customer service jobs - and committed to making sure every pet feels safe, and loved while you’re away. I’m currently working part time, so I’m available in the afternoons most of the time, and I’m very flexible with times and days. I like to feel active and take dogs on walks because it’s a great activity for all parties involved! Your pet’s safety and happiness are my absolute top priorities. When in your home, I would love to take your fur babies for walks, to dog parks, anything you already do with them to make them the most comfortable! I love sending photo and video updates throughout the day so you always know your pet is having a blast and is in great hands!

“Kaitlyn did an amazing job taking care of our cat and dog. She sent a lot of photos and updates each day to ease our minds. Kaitlyn took our dog on outings to get her puppy energy out. It was amazing. From a home standpoint, she kept everything clean and even took out the trash/kitty litter and put all of her laundry in the laundry room. I will hire her again.”

“Monica was amazing with our senior beagle who struggles with separation anxiety for drop in sitting. She kept him happy and comfortable while we were away. Will definitely be rebooking with her in the future!”

“Nyla and Poppy were well taken care of and enjoyed their overnights and daytime hangout with Carolina. Appreciated the updates and pictures on how they were doing throughout the trip.”

“Nicole did a wonderful job caring for our dog and house while we were away. It was a trying time with storms and fireworks, so she hung out in the basement with our dog, playing the TV loud to cover the noise. Our house looked exactly the same as the way we left it. I received twice daily updates, which my entire family appreciated—it’s always nice to see your pet is doing well when you’re away.”

“Jessica was absolutely wonderful with Asher! He’s a friendly, affectionate dog, but he can be a little cautious in new situations and with new people. Jessica was patient, intuitive, and gave him the time he needed to warm up. Before long, they were enjoying playful moments together, and it was clear she understood his personality—especially letting him lead the way on their walks, which he absolutely loves. Jessica was also an excellent communicator throughout the weekend. She shared thoughtful updates and just the right number of photos, giving us peace of mind without overwhelming us. It was clear Asher was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. On top of taking such great care of Asher, she left our home spotless and tidy. We came home to a happy dog and a beautifully cared-for house. We can’t wait to have Jessica stay with Asher again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and thoughtful sitter!”

“Lucky for us, we chose Jaclyn who was a perfect match for our senior pup. She came to meet him before we left and he warmed up to her calm demeanor instantly. She sent photos while we were away and was quick to respond back to messages. We hate leaving our big guy but it’s good to know we have a trusted sitter nearby. Thank you Jaclyn!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Auburn Hills
Carolina was fantastic. I have a senior dog with a busy medication schedule - and needs looking after quite closely. Carolina could not be sweeter to my dog and also kind to us - sending pictures and check ins regularly. She was also so respectful of our house. When we came home, it was just the way we left it. I highly recommend Carolina.

Evelyn is so caring and patient with our high maintenence crew of 2 senior cats and 2 dogs! She understands all the separate personalities and needs of each animal. Her updates are detailed and reassuring. They definitely help us feel ok about leaving for a pet free vacation! We trust Evelyn with our fur babies and house sitting. You will be grateful you hired her👏🏼

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Auburn Hills on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,150 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Auburn Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburn Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburn Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburn Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Auburn Hills. On Rover:

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
