"I can't thank Evelyn enough for the exceptional care they provided for my dog Jax and my special needs dog Ginny! From the very beginning, she showed incredible patience, understanding, and attention to detail. She took the time to learn about Ginny's unique needs and followed all instructions meticulously, ensuring my dogs felt comfortable and safe. Not only did she manage the specific care routines required, but she also offered updates and photos regularly, which put my mind at ease. It's clear that Evelyn has a real passion for animals and a kind heart, especially when it comes to pets with special needs. I feel so grateful to have found someone so reliable, compassionate, and experienced. Highly recommend!"

About: I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I got my first dog when I was 12 years old, and since then caring for dogs has always been a big part of my life. Over the years I’ve helped care for dogs belonging to friends and family, including feeding, walks, playtime, and making sure they feel comfortable while their owners are away. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with a service dog, which taught me a lot about responsibility, consistency, and paying close attention to a dog’s needs and behavior. I understand how important it is for dogs to feel safe, active, and loved. I always make sure they get the attention, exercise, and care they need. I also send regular updates and photos so owners can feel relaxed knowing their dog is happy and well cared for! I’m available after 5pm on weekdays and have flexible availability on weekends. I’m happy to help with walks, visits, feeding, playtime, and giving your pet lots of attention and care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always make sure to follow the pet’s normal routine so they feel safe and comfortable in their own environment. I carefully follow feeding schedules, litter box care, walks, and any specific instructions provided by the owner. I treat both the pets and the home with great respect and attention. My goal is to make sure your pet feels relaxed, cared for, and loved while you’re away. I also send regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that everything is going well.

Nicole was great. She sat for my 3 yr old golden and my son in law’s 16 year old husky mix. She stayed at our house and helped with lite jobs around the house like watering plants and taking out garbage. She also communicated with us daily about how the dogs were doing and things around the house. She was prompt, attentive and responsible. Hi recommend her highly and will use her again.

Christina is excellent. We were nervous about hiring someone outside of our friend/family circle to care for our two dogs and two cats. And for an extended period of time: 16 days. And during Christmas and New Years - Christina was amazing. She is responsible and caring and reliable. We were able to meet a couple times before the scheduled date to go over things and that helped not only provide her with the information to care for them but it also helped me feel comfortable to know she was willing to meet and took the responsibility seriously. My animals were all well cared for. They were happy and content when we got back even though they missed us. We are all so thankful for her care and attention and dedication to the job and our animals. Highly recommend.

About: I’m a dedicated and compassionate pet sitter with a true love for animals of all kinds. I have hands-on experience with all ages—from playful puppies who need structure and training, to senior pets who require gentle attention and medication management. I take the time to understand each pet’s unique personality and routine, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s belly rubs, daily walks, or keeping up with special diets, your pet’s comfort and well-being are always my top priority. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I mainly work from home full-time with a flexible schedule. This allows me to be fully present and attentive to the pets in my care throughout the day—not just before and after work hours. Since I'm home during the day, I can provide regular potty breaks, playtime, meals, and cuddles, all without the time constraints of a traditional office job. Whether it’s a midday walk, medication, or simply companionship, I’m available and nearby to meet your pet’s needs. My home office setup makes it easy to integrate pet care into my routine, and I love having animals around—they bring a wonderful energy to the day! With me, your pet gets reliable, loving care and plenty of attention all week long. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or yours, my top priority is creating a safe, loving, and stress-free environment that mirrors their normal routine as closely as possible. In your home, I make sure your pet feels secure by sticking to their usual schedule—meals, walks, playtime, and cuddle time included! I take the time to learn their habits, preferences, and any special instructions you provide, so your pet feels comfortable and cared for even when you're away. I also keep your home tidy and respect your space like it’s my own. If I’m hosting your pet in my home, they’ll enjoy a calm, pet-friendly space where they get plenty of attention, affection, and play. I ensure a clean and safe environment, complete with cozy resting spots and plenty of enrichment to keep them happy and engaged. No matter the location, I’m attentive, responsive, and always in tune with your pet’s needs. You’ll receive regular updates, photos, and peace of mind knowing your furry friend is in loving hands.

Lucky for us, we chose Jaclyn who was a perfect match for our senior pup. She came to meet him before we left and he warmed up to her calm demeanor instantly. She sent photos while we were away and was quick to respond back to messages. We hate leaving our big guy but it’s good to know we have a trusted sitter nearby. Thank you Jaclyn!

About: I’ve been watching pets since I was a teenager. I love animals and am very experienced. I love playing and cuddling with them. Whatever their energy level is I am happy to match. I’m currently a full time student. I’m free during afternoons and mornings. I just have to walk to class twice a day from noon to three. I am very attentive to what your pet needs. My dogs are super high maintenance so any level of care needed I am prepared for in making sure your animal is happy.

Jessica was absolutely wonderful with Asher! He’s a friendly, affectionate dog, but he can be a little cautious in new situations and with new people. Jessica was patient, intuitive, and gave him the time he needed to warm up. Before long, they were enjoying playful moments together, and it was clear she understood his personality—especially letting him lead the way on their walks, which he absolutely loves. Jessica was also an excellent communicator throughout the weekend. She shared thoughtful updates and just the right number of photos, giving us peace of mind without overwhelming us. It was clear Asher was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. On top of taking such great care of Asher, she left our home spotless and tidy. We came home to a happy dog and a beautifully cared-for house. We can’t wait to have Jessica stay with Asher again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and thoughtful sitter!

FAQs for House Sitting - Auburn Hills

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Auburn Hills on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,150 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Auburn Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburn Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburn Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburn Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Auburn Hills. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
