“MacKenzie was fantastic! We had a family member cancel with short notice for watching out 2 dogs and 3 cats for a week while we were going on vacation. I quickly hopped on Rover to see who was near us, and decided to message MacKenzie based on other reviews that had been left. She was quickly able to come over and meet our gang to make sure it would be a fit. After that initial meeting, my husband and I both felt very comfortable and confident with her coming to stay and take care of things while we were gone. The day we were supposed to leave, we ran into some issues but MacKenzie was flexible and fast to communicate. She was very punctual and sent brief updates/questions throughout the week (she has our preference on communication and we had told her we didn't need regular check ins or updates). When we got home, we could tell our dogs and cats had missed us, but it was also clear that they had been well taken care of. Overall, if and when I may need another house & pet sitter, I wouldn't hesitate to reach back out to MacKenzie and I won't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for help.”

“We have a 1.5 y/o puppy and a 14.5 y/o dog who have very different needs. Amanda seemed to navigate that with ease and was very good about asking questions in both the intro meeting and during the first stay.”

“Suzy was an exceptional kitten sitter. During her week-long stay at our home, she maintained everything and left our home just as she found it. I loved receiving the daily updates and photos of Lila while we were away. Upon returning, we found a happy and healthy kitten, thanks to Suzy's attentive care. Without a doubt, she will be our go-to sitter in the future! 😺”

“Tierra was wonderful! Our dog Hank loved her as soon as he met her at our meet and greet 😊 She did an amazing job watching him, she sent great updates and pictures and Hank had so much fun with her! We came back to a very happy guy after his time with her 😊 we will definitely use Tierra again”

“Jennifer is simply the best! She is caring, considerate, attentive, and communicative. Jennifer made us feel so at ease, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy the weekend. She provided regular updates and left our place squeaky clean upon departure. The cats adored her! We don’t have plans to leave town anytime soon, but as soon as we do, I’ll be calling Jennifer!!”

“Natalee was absolutely fantastic! This was our first time ever using Rover or any similar service, and she completely put all of our worries and concerns at ease. From the very beginning, her professionalism, communication, and genuine care stood out. She was incredibly accommodating, understanding, and kept us updated throughout the entire process, which gave us so much peace of mind. We truly could not have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their pet!”

“Alex was so good with our two goldens and kitty while we were out of town! She even got up every day to walk them in the early morning since it was a 100 degree weekend. Very good communication and kept us updated throughout the weekend. Above & beyond!”

About: Howdy! I have had pet experience for 10 years with every animal ranging from tortoises to other reptiles, birds, fish, rodents, cats and dogs! I love them all. I live in an apartment so I don’t get to have the lovings with a pet. Therefore, I’ve got more love to give! I hope you give me the chance! Thank you Hello! I am new to Spokane, originally from Texas! I am an ABA RBT/ CBT part time! When I’m not working with my kiddos I’m with my sister’s dog, snuggling or walking him! I’m fully available on the weekends for walking, drop in visits & house sitting! Weekdays may vary as I have a somewhat rotating schedule with my clients at my job. Message me and we can work something out! Have a blessed day! I care for any pet as if they were my own. I am very gentle and conscious of your time and your schedule as well as your pets schedule. Do not be afraid to communicate with me! I will accommodate every need.
“Audrey did a wonderful job with our two rambunctious German Shepherds. She is a good listener, attentive, and punctual. We got lots of great feedback while we were away, and when she needed additional information, was quick to contact us. She was housesitting/petsitting for us - when we returned, house was immaculate. She approaches this work as a real professional. Happy we found her, and fortunate to have her back in a few short days!”

“I really appreciate all the effort and care put into my animals! Like most pet owners, I fret when I'm away. Monique was communicative and friendly, always responding quickly and happy to send a pic.”

“It can be hard to find a sitter that enjoys big dogs. Our big, goofy dogs love Clara! We appreciate that she let us know how they were doing and help them stay happy and on their routine (as it helps the smaller of our two dogs keep her anxiety down while we’re away). We will definitely call on her again.”

“First time using Rover to engage a housesitter to care for our two pups in our home. Based on the many 5 star reviews on Wini's services profile. We did an initial meet and greet at our home before the dates we needed her to housesit. Wini asked a lot of questions about the care and routine for our pups as well as if there were any special needs she needed to be aware of. After our meet and greet, we decided to move forward and book her housesitter services for our 12 yr old senior lab and 5 yr old high energy little terrier mix. Wini is excellent at communicating and updating with photos/videos during our time away from home. House was clean and dogs were happy when we returned. We feel confident in booking her again in the future.”

“Sean did a great job taking care of our dog and our cat. He communicated with us when needed and/or expected and sent us pictures while we were gone. Our pets like him and seem very comfortable with him. He was even willing to give our cat medicine twice a day, which isn't easy, but he said it went well. He stayed at our house and kept everything very neat and clean. We are very happy with his service and will ask him to take care of our pets again.”

“Danielle did an amazing job house-sitting and taking care of our kitten, Kingston, over the past few days. She spent a lot of time interacting and playing with him, which we really appreciated. Kingston can be quite the little biter, and she even went out of her way to buy him a new chew toy to help with that. She was punctual, communicative, and left our home clean and well cared for. It was clear that she genuinely enjoys spending time with animals and treats them with care and attention. We would absolutely recommend Danielle to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter, and we would gladly book her again in the future!”
“Irina was very thoughtful and sweet and kind with Riley and caring for him while we were gone. She sent us regular photos of taking Riley for a walk and stayed in touch. We would highly recommend her.”

About: There has never not been a dog in my house. I've grown up around them and feel very comfortable with them! Within the last few years I have logged 70+ volunteer hours at SCRAPS training and exercising dogs. I achieved the highest level of training and thoroughly enjoy my time working with them. I have handled dogs with all kinds of behavioral issues from having a high prey drive to disliking people. Additionally I've worked with my own dog and she earned her CGC, participated in numerous rally classes, and began agility. When she became a senior dog I gave her a comfortable life until the end. I am passionate about making their lives better for as long as we have them. I also have experience taking care of rabbits, goats, and horses. I'm a full-time student on summer break so I have full availability currently. Evenings will have less availability as I will be doing some summer conditioning for my sport but can be flexible with the client's needs. In my own home we keep our dogs separate with baby gates and the use of leashes. Keeping them safe is a priority for us so we do all we can to help make them comfortable while maintaining safety. Depending on what the client is comfortable with I will use whatever measures they want to keep their family safe.
“Rachel is a Super Rover!! She loves our dog and we love HER! She leaves the house spotless and giver our dog the best care and attention! If there was a 6th star, we'd giver her 6!!”

About: I’ve grown up with many cats and dogs as well as volunteering at animal shelters, I have a true passion for taking care of animals and giving them the love and attention they deserve! I have become the main person to pet sit for friends and family since I was a teen so I have many year of experience caring for and loving all animals! Let me care for your animals as if they are my own! I’m currently working 3-12s so that gives my plenty of time to care for your pups and kitties, my schedule rotates but I typically have 4-7 days off in between my shifts. Let me know your needs and we can plan from there!:) I have been house sitting since I was a teen and not only is my biggest priority caring for your fur babies but also leaving a home better than when I arrived. Your animals will be loved and taken care of by someone who would love your animals like they’re my own.
“Amber was an absolute dream! She kept us so well informed and we could tell the dogs were perfectly taken care of during our trip! She sent so many pictures and videos and from the first meeting we saw the dogs just melt into her with love. I will call her any time we need a sitter! I can’t recommend her enough!!!”

“Angee is so good with my pup and her communication and photos and all are most assuring when I’m gone! I feel fortunate to have found her and will definitely ask her back time and again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Town and Country
This was the first time we used Rover for housesitting and Tessa was so wonderful with our two pups while we were away for the week. Our puppy can be a bit of a handful and Tessa was proactive, communicative and went the extra mile to try different things to help deter his bad behaviors while we were gone. She left our house clean and even refilled our stash of frozen Toppls so that we were good to go with puppy enrichment treats when we got home. Leaving our fur babies is always stressful but Tessa definitely made it a lot easier!

Ella was great! She was so patient and understanding about my anxiety of leaving my dogs with a “stranger”. She came over a few days prior to the booking to meet me and the dogs. My very geriatric dogs seemed to relax around her way faster than they do with most people. She communicated well with me the entire weekend and sent me pictures and videos of my boys. When I got home my house looked the exact same as when I left it and my very needed dogs acted like I had never left in the first place. Thank you so much for being there with them Ella. Will absolutely book her again in the future.

We had an amazing experience with Paige! She took such great care of our dog and truly went above and beyond with keeping us updated, picking up thoughtful extras like treats and supplies, and even putting together the sweetest little display for us to come home to. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our pup was in such caring, attentive hands. We’re so grateful we found her and can’t recommend her enough. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a pet sitter!

Abigail is amazing! I have an easy but not-so-easy senior dog dealing with doggy dementia and Abby took care of my baby with such genuine care. Just the week prior to my trip I was so full of anxiety leaving my girl, but Abby did a phenomenal job keeping me up to date with her and easing any anxiety I had. I had a great trip, and London had a wonderful time with her new friend.

I'm so glad we found Matthew! Our dogs are a handful and they have a hard time when we leave. But I didn't worry at all while we were gone this time. Matthew sent frequent check-ins and pictures, and my pups fell in love with him. I would absolutely recommend Matthew!

Liz was by far the best dog sitter we have had! I will absolutely book her again in the future. The dogs were happy, healthy and relaxed when we returned back home from a last minute trip so we could not have asked for a better sitter. She sent daily pics of the pups playing and updates on how everyone was doing. I would recommend her to house sit for everyone without any reservations. Thanks Liz again for house sitting for us!

FAQs for House Sitting - Town and Country
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Town and Country on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 760 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Town and Country. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Town and Country walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Town and Country maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Town and Country choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Town and Country. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
