“Megan and Lee stayed with our pups for an extended timeframe and did a terrific job caring for them. One is a senior dog and the other a needy Velcro dog and we felt very comfortable with the care they provided. We would use them again. They also took care of miscellaneous house stuff that popped up while we were gone. Great communication.”

About: I've always grown up around animals, I've never even lived in a home without some kind of furry friend. I've had dogs since I was younger than 5 and my family used to foster for a program in Alabama called a New Leash on Life. I've had my own dog since college and he is dog reactive. Through patience and consistency, he's now able to comfortably play with other dogs while still understanding his own limits. I genuinely love animals and this seems like a great opportunity to spend time with some without adopting 16 more pets. Since I work full-time during the week, pet care fits best into my weekends. I can also help on weeknights after 6pm, with no conflicts. My schedule can be flexible with enough prep time. I don’t offer boarding in my own home, but I’m happy to come to yours for potty breaks, playtime, and overnight sitting. I make sure pets get the attention they need — whether that’s exercise, cuddles, or just keeping their routine consistent. During overnights, I stay attentive to their comfort and safety, so you can feel confident they’re well. I can accommodate any weird or fun quirks that your pet has because mine definitely has more than a few.
About: I have grown up with dogs all my life and started pet sitting when I was 14. I have looked after many different animals including dogs, cats, lizards, and a spider! I have experience with puppies, kittens, senior animals and animals with disabilities as well. I am currently working a part time job so I will have plenty of time to walk and play with your pets! If I am needed on an hourly basis, let me know two weeks beforehand so I can schedule time off work. I can stay overnight at your house if needed I will not bring your pets over to my home because my own dog is unsure about other animals. I like to stay with the animals for two hours each time I check in on them to keep them company and to play with them. I can also stay overnight and all day if needed.
“Jennifer was amazing! Super communicative & so kind. We felt completely at ease leaving our pups with her as soon as we met her. Huck & Wyatt enjoyed their time with her so much that I don't think they even noticed we were gone ha! We enjoyed our time away even more knowing they were being so well cared for by her, thanks Jennifer!”

“Gabby is simply the best. She was amazing and flexible with the needs of our senior girl, Jersie. She sent picture updates throughout our trip and kept us in the loop of what was going on. We are so thankful for her compassion and are looking forward to booking with her again ❤️”

About: I’ve taken care of doggies most of my entire life. I’m experienced, quick on my feet and energetic. I have a large, grassy backyard with a privacy fence, so your pup has freedom to run around as much as he or she wants! Excited to meet your little fur baby! I work from home so I have the flexibility to go out and walk or play with your pup! I’m free all weekends as well. I have my own doggie who is friendly, energetic and loves to play. He gets along with everyone. My house has a big backyard with a fence so the dogs are free to run around as much as they’d like. I also have a portable fence for inside the house if needed.
“Our dogs had such a good time with Scott that they were actually sad to see him go when we returned from our trip! I am sure they will be elated next time they see him. Scott is easygoing, communicative, and has our full trust. We're so glad to have found Scott and know our pups are in good hands with him!”

“Taylor is wonderful! She followed my wishes for care. I have 5 dogs and she did overnight visits with them. Feeding them, hanging out with them and loving on them. Taylor went above and beyond to help me and I would highly recommend her.”

About: I've owned a dog most of my life. I love dogs, but at this stage of life, I find it more rewarding to care for other people's pets and not own one of my own. I had a black lab for 14 years. She was my best friend. I'm sure you feel the same way, which is why you are looking for a sitter. Why place your pet in a kennel when I can stay with them in the home they know? Take that long weekend, or extended stay, knowing your home and pet are safe under my care. I'm an early riser. The dog is often my alarm clock. I prefer to let the dog out in a fenced yard. If the dog is well-trained on a leash, I can walk it and pick up droppings. We enjoy breakfast. I avoid people food, no matter how much they beg, unless you tell me otherwise. Active dogs want to play. Most will show me their favorite toy or game. I am retired but work from home. I am an artist and post my work online. I will ask for your wifi connection. Most pets stay with me while I work. We take frequent breaks to play, cuddle, or go out. The dog tells me what he/she is used to, along with your instructions. I'll follow your feeding and treats schedule to the letter. Later in the day, we watch TV. Many dogs enjoy Animal Planet or sporting events. I am an NFL fan and find many pets like the games too. At bedtime, I am OK if your pet wants to sleep with me. I find that a family with a fenced yard works best for your dog and for me. Your pet may act differently on a leash around other people or animals with me than they do with you. Keeping them safely in a yard avoids them breaking free of their collar or tangling with another dog. I will rarely need to leave your home during my stay, but if I do, your pet will be secured per your instructions and your home locked.
“Oli did an amazing job with our dog. We got such detailed and entertaining reports. We never worried for a moment that our dog was getting better care than we would provide. Oli was responsive and flexible and left our home in great condition. We would book Oli again in an instant and we very highly recommend them to anyone.”

“Great communication. Went above and beyond with cleaning muddy paw prints off the floor due to the rain. Followed all directions and asked questions if he was unsure of something. Highly recommend for your pets needs!”

About: I’ve always loved working with animals. I have hands on experience caring for all breeds of animals. I'm active, dependable, and genuinely enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that's going for walks, hikes, or simply getting fresh air. Because of my animal background, I'm comfortable around animals of all sizes and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and attentive care. As a pet caregiver, I'll treat your pets like they're my own. Whether your dog needs a quick potty break, a long walk to burn off energy, or extra attention while you're away, I'll make sure they feel safe, cared for, and loved. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I’m currently working part time, which allows me to have flexibility and availability throughout the day for dog walks, drop in visits, and pet care. Your pets safety, comfort, and well being are always my top priorities. I understand that trusting someone with your pet and home is a big decision, and I take that responsibility seriously. I strive to provide a calm, safe, and positive environment where pets feel comfortable and cared for while you're away.
“Karen is very accountable and experienced. She took Dolly on several walks per day. She was a great in home pet sitter. Dolly was taken care just like Karen would care for her dogs. I highly recommend Karen.”

About: As a nurse practitioner, families already trust me with something more precious than anything – their health. That same professionalism, responsibility, compassion, or what I bring to caring for your pets. But beyond my medical background, I have an extreme love for animals. I don't do pet sitting just as a job, it's what truly makes me happy. Whether it's dogs, cats, or exotics, I care for every pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and understood while you're away. You'll get the perfect mix of medical professionalism, trust in genuine animal passion – a combination that gives you total peace of mind and gives your pets a new best friend while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine, my schedule is flexible, which allows me to build time in for pet visits walks and it's extended care. I prioritize keeping a balance schedule so that way I can be dependable. That means you'll have the peace of mind, knowing I'm organized, committed and available to work on your needs. I provide pet sitting exclusively in your home so your pets can stay comfortable in their own from your space. I'll make sure they have everything they need fresh food and water potty breaks or litter changes, walks, playtime, and lots of love.

About: I love the dedication and unconditional love that dogs provide their human companions. I will admit that personally I have cats, and they just don't do that all the time :) I have dog-sat for friends over several years providing feedings, walks, and playtime to Malteses to German Shepards. I love getting to know each dog and treating them as if they were my own, which means they are usually going to be pretty pampered. If your dog needs specialized care, I would be willing to learn. I don't really know what specialized care entails for a dog, but feel free to message me and we can discuss. I am a high school teacher so my availability is afternoon/evenings and weekends during the school year but wide open once it is the summertime. My cats are not used to dogs, so caring for dogs in my home would mean they would be spending time outside. However taking care of dogs in their home allows them to be comfortable, have rub my belly sessions (if that's what they like), and take walks in the area that they are most comfortable.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - The Woods
Zoe was fantastic! This was the first time we have used Rover and on short notice, we requested Zoe pet sit overnight for multiple nights. She was very responsive to messages/texts from the start, sent many pictures documenting our dog's daily activity and kept the house tidy. She was very thoughtful and sweet. We would definitely use her services again! Highly recommend!

Tory took amazing care of our senior yorkie, Bella! We were gone for 8 days and I really think Bella has been looking for her new friend :). Bella can be an anxious dog, but she was clearly comfortable with Tory. Tory was very respectful in our home and it even looked cleaner when we returned home than when we left! We will definitely seek Tory for future sitting needs!

Bethany was freaking incredible. I gave her so many instructions to follow for my pets routine, and she followed them to the tee. My dog fell in love with her. She was able to administer medicine to my cat AND put a harness on him… if you know anything about cats, you will know how hard that is to do…. Amazing. Thank you so much Bethany for making my first experience on rover a seamless process. I can’t wait to book you again!

Olivia was outstanding! She was everything her resume and past reviews said she was... and more! I have three dogs, 2 that are up in years and 1 that requires medication and monitoring daily. Olivia connected with them right away and she provided excellent care for all of them. She is dependable, reliable and professional,, all the things you look for when you are entrusting someone to care for the pets you love. I had a number of pet routines that she had she had to master to make my pups feel comfortable and she did great,,, she was the only change for them and they connected with her on the join up visit. I could not recommend her more highly.
John was fantastic! Our dog can be very shy and anxious in unfamiliar situations. John was very patient and quickly earned his trust. We had never been able to go away as a complete family before but chose John to care for our beloved Koda and were delighted with the results. Multiple daily communications & pictures kept us connected during our extended absence. Will call on John again in the future.
Allie was amazing! Exactly what we were looking for in a house / pet sitter. So loving and caring with our two doodles, 15 and 3. So much attention to detail with the pups and the house in general. Communication was always great. Would definitely hire her again.
Teresa did an amazing job with my pups. She sent pictures of them and kept their schedule perfectly. They got plenty of love and were very content when we got home. My one dog has cushings disease and needs meds twice a day and it was no problem for her. I will definitely rebook with her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - The Woods
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in The Woods on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,587 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across The Woods. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Woods walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Woods maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Woods choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Woods. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
