“First time using Rover or any dog sitting service and we are very happy. Robert was great with our 3 dogs and respectful of our home. Will definitely use him again in the future.”

“Aiden did fantastic with our pups' second ever extended stay with a sitter. Aiden was attentive, took great care of our home and pups, and was sure to provide us with frequent updates. Highly recommend!”

“So happy that we tried Bri out for our first time of dog sitting! My dogs are not the easiest and she went above and beyond and made them and us feel at ease! Will definetly be using Bri again!”

“We love Brooke! We have booked her multiple times and she is always so great. We had some travel delays and she was willing to stay extra time to account for our delays. She always takes such good care of our pets and they also love her!”

“Dru was such a great home and pet sitter! She was very communicative, kind, knowledgeable, and she was very patient with my highly anxious, noisy, husky/shepherd mix. Her and her partner were respectful of my space and left it in great shape for me to come home to after a long travel day. Dru is everything I look for in a kind, responsible, communicative, trustworthy person to trust my home and babies with, while I'm away. I'm grateful for the peace of mind she provided me with, by knowing my babies and home were in good hands, while I was away. I will absolutely have her sit for me again!! Thanks Dru!”

“Abby is the sweetest young lady! Best dog sitter I have had! She loved and took great care of my 3 dogs and house while I was out of town. My babies loved her as much as she loves them! Highly recommend!”

“Brittany took great care of our two dogs and house. One of our dogs is elderly and requires medications, help getting up/down stairs and Brittany did great with her! She provided us pictures and updates daily and was quick to answer any texts. Would definitely use her again!”
“Erin was fantastic! She was great at communicating with us and sent us lots of updates of all three animals. We were on vacation while she sat for us and we didn’t have to worry at all during our entire trip, so we got to truly relax! This was our first time using Rover and she made it a great experience! Would 100% recommend Erin to anyone!”

About: I’ve grown up with smaller dogs but recently I moved out on my own and got 2 big rescue dogs. I love any kind of dog and any size! I’m available to take care of your dog and make them feel loved while you are away. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I enjoy being around animals. I’m used to planning time for feeding, walks, playtime, and making sure pets have clean water and a comfortable environment. I’m also attentive to their behavior so I can notice if anything seems off and make sure they stay healthy and happy I live an apartment so I can’t have dogs stay at my place but I will dog sit and whatever you need at your house.
“My husband and I booked Chelsea to stay at our house with our dog George while we were on vacation this week, and I can’t stress enough what an amazing job she did! She gave us consistent updates on how George was doing, and she was so quick to respond to us throughout the whole process of booking her and during her stay at our house! She put us so at ease, and she truly is great with dogs because George doesn’t like everyone, but he loved Chelsea! Pet parents share their Rover experiences - The Village
We absolutely love our pet sitter, Abby! This was her third time watching our girls, and we truly can’t say enough great things about her. She treats them like they’re her own and always keeps us updated with the sweetest photos and little glimpses into their day, which gives us so much peace of mind while we’re away. Our oldest pup is recovering from an eye abrasion, and Abby took such great care of her by gently cleaning her eye and making sure she was comfortable. Knowing our girls are so loved and well cared for means everything to us. We’re so thankful we found Abby and will absolutely continue booking her for all of our future trips. Highly, highly recommend!

Kathy is fantastic! You will not be disappointed in choosing her to care for your furry children. I was somewhat anxious because of a previous experience but her actions quickly put my heart at rest & I was able to enjoy my time away. My little old man, Louie, usually boycotts his first meal when I am away but Kathy very quickly discerned his love language…sweet talk & being a willing partner in his song & dance routine. He ate & I knew Kathy was a keeper! She was just as discerning when it came to caring for Lucy, my little chiweenie. Kathy adjusted her schedule to keep the dogs on their established daily routine, from getting up early to sleeping with them at night. She took care of my plants & I came home to a house that was just as tidy as I left it. I couldn’t be more pleased & you will be too! 😊

Michael was excellent house and dog sitting for us. He was very communicative the entire time and asked questions when he wasnt sure about something. The dogs absolutely adored him and they had a great time all hanging out. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone and will certainly use them again.

Destiny was the absolute best. We are from out of town with a brand new puppy. She took care of her in hotel room and was amazing dealing with the front desk with a key issue. I would recommend her to anyone. She is worth it!! Problem solver, perfect communication, super flexible, and a great attitude. Thank you Destiny, if we’re ever back and need pet care again I will be in touch

Robert provided excellent service while living in our home and caring for our animals for five days. Upon return we found a neat clean home and happy well cared for animals. Robert is a very neat, clean, articulate, and dependable young young man. We will be using Robert again in the near future. Thank you Robert for a great experience.
Cassidy is truly a blessing! She is so reliable and really puts our minds at ease when we travel. We have three spoiled, quirky fur-babies (1 dog and 2 cats) who get stressed/anxious in typical boarding environments. Cassidy pet sits in our home, putting the fur-kids (and us) at ease. Cassidy is a great communicator, providing daily updates, and she treats our home with respect. You won’t find a better pet/home sitter out there.

Diamond is the BEST! She sent updates, took Stelly to play, went to volleyball games, outside constantly, car rides, and so much more. So was so attentive to Stella and made sure she was very well taken care of. She also cleaned up after herself and just make sure everything in general was taken care of. Most definitely will use her again. She’s amazing and will love your babies as if they are her own!

This was my first experience using Rover and Alex made me a furever fan. The communication updates and level of care he took of my dogs made my trip so enjoyable knowing they were in great hands. I would recommend Alex 10/10 if you want the best level of care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Village. On Rover:

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
