“We cannot overstate how excellent Robert was for us. It's immediately clear when meeting Robert that he values our dogs as his own. Robert was very flexible and exceeded our expectations, despite the challenges of handling the care of our multiple dogs.”

“Tanya was prompt with communication throughout the whole booking process! She took great care of my dogs and rats! I would absolutely recommend using her to watch your fur babies while you are away! Excellent care!”

“Cassidy was an excellent house/dog sitter! She communicated well, sent lots of puppy pictures, emptied the mailbox for us, put out the recycling, and made sure our dogs were walked, fed, and loved! My wife and I definitely recommend! :)”

“Anna did great with Rusty sending us updates about his day frequently. He had a ton of fun playing with her two other dogs. It was great knowing that she had a background working at a vet. She was friendly and caring towards Rusty and we know he would love to visit again!”

“This was our first time using a service like this, so we were pretty nervous as we have a very old and sick dog. We were gone for more than a week. Brittany sent pictures or videos daily and kept in constant contact. Our dog was happy well cared for. We were very pleased.”

“Bree was fantastic with our dogs! She watched Ozzie and Dakota and they both loved her! Dakota can be a bit nervous around new people and she was great with him. She provided lots of photos and updates and we felt our dogs were in good, loving hands. We will definitely use Bree again in the future!”

“This was our second time having Brooke watch our pets and she was so amazing! It’s great to know that our pets are in such good hands. She’s responsive and always lets me know what is going on during our stay. We love Brooke!!”

“Abby is the sweetest young lady! Best dog sitter I have had! She loved and took great care of my 3 dogs and house while I was out of town. My babies loved her as much as she loves them! Highly recommend!”

“Cassie always goes above and beyond with house sitting and watching my animals. This is the second year we have used her for any and all house/dog/cat sitting requests and she has never once let us down. We so appreciate her attentiveness to the animals, respect to our home, and love she gives to our animals. The pictures at the end of the day are always a plus. I always recommend Cassie to anyone looking for an animal sitter.”

“Emily is a treasure. She's such a natural. She took care of my 2 large dogs for over a week- they immediately adored her. My vacation was so much better not worrying about my floofs.”

“I highly recommend Aiden. Not only did he accommodate my last-minute booking after I received a cancellation notice from another house sitter, but it was immediately clear when I returned home that my dogs and kitty were extremely well cared for during my absence. I received multiple updates from Aiden throughout my trip, and he followed my detailed instructions for pet care and was sure to let me know when he had a question. I will definitely be using Aiden for future trips!”

“As mentioned previously, Brittney did an amazing job taking care of our animals. Definitely someone who I would recommend to anyone. Thank you for taking care of our pets on such short notice!!”

“Ulrica is fabulous. Her love of animals is instantly obvious. She took such good care of our baby! She sent frequent updates. She went above and beyond to take care of our home too. We are so happy to have found her!”

About: My family has owned animals since before I was born, always multiple at a time. I love playing with my dogs and cat, as well as taking care of them and watching them when my folks go on vacation. I have two great Danes, two Boston terriers, and a kitty cat at home! I am outgoing, responsible, and determined! I would love to help out in your house. I am trying to do Rover full time, so I have very wide availability! I am very flexible. I would love to find some repeat schedule clients! I care for my pets by playing with them, walking them, and just making sure their general needs are met and exceeded. I love my animals so much, and I love pampering them.
“I read a review saying Tianna once stepped in to fix a logistical nightmare and she did the same for us! We had to cancel our original sitter last minute because we didn’t want our dogs kenneled all day. After a quick FaceTime, Tianna totally understood their routine and came right after work to stay with them. She was patient, caring, and kept us updated the whole time. Our dogs felt comfortable right away, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She’s the first person outside of family we’ve trusted to watch them, and we’ll definitely be booking her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - The Village
Kathy is fantastic! You will not be disappointed in choosing her to care for your furry children. I was somewhat anxious because of a previous experience but her actions quickly put my heart at rest & I was able to enjoy my time away. My little old man, Louie, usually boycotts his first meal when I am away but Kathy very quickly discerned his love language…sweet talk & being a willing partner in his song & dance routine. He ate & I knew Kathy was a keeper! She was just as discerning when it came to caring for Lucy, my little chiweenie. Kathy adjusted her schedule to keep the dogs on their established daily routine, from getting up early to sleeping with them at night. She took care of my plants & I came home to a house that was just as tidy as I left it. I couldn’t be more pleased & you will be too! 😊

Michael was excellent house and dog sitting for us. He was very communicative the entire time and asked questions when he wasnt sure about something. The dogs absolutely adored him and they had a great time all hanging out. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone and will certainly use them again.

Destiny was the absolute best. We are from out of town with a brand new puppy. She took care of her in hotel room and was amazing dealing with the front desk with a key issue. I would recommend her to anyone. She is worth it!! Problem solver, perfect communication, super flexible, and a great attitude. Thank you Destiny, if we’re ever back and need pet care again I will be in touch

Robert provided excellent service while living in our home and caring for our animals for five days. Upon return we found a neat clean home and happy well cared for animals. Robert is a very neat, clean, articulate, and dependable young young man. We will be using Robert again in the near future. Thank you Robert for a great experience.
Cassidy is truly a blessing! She is so reliable and really puts our minds at ease when we travel. We have three spoiled, quirky fur-babies (1 dog and 2 cats) who get stressed/anxious in typical boarding environments. Cassidy pet sits in our home, putting the fur-kids (and us) at ease. Cassidy is a great communicator, providing daily updates, and she treats our home with respect. You won’t find a better pet/home sitter out there.

Diamond is the BEST! She sent updates, took Stelly to play, went to volleyball games, outside constantly, car rides, and so much more. So was so attentive to Stella and made sure she was very well taken care of. She also cleaned up after herself and just make sure everything in general was taken care of. Most definitely will use her again. She’s amazing and will love your babies as if they are her own!

This was my first experience using Rover and Alex made me a furever fan. The communication updates and level of care he took of my dogs made my trip so enjoyable knowing they were in great hands. I would recommend Alex 10/10 if you want the best level of care.

FAQs for House Sitting - The Village
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in The Village on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 857 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across The Village. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Village. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
