“Melissa took such great care of Kuma! I loved getting photos and updates, it made feel so secure that Kuma was receiving excellent care. Melissa is a true dog lover and it shines through.”

About: Hello, I am a local who lives full time in Tahoe City. I've been a pet owner with both dogs and cats for the last 30+years. I am a mother of two grown children that are now off away at school. I work at the local elementary school with young children of special needs. I am a fun, caring and loving person who loves both animals and humans. I don't have any pets living with me so your pet would be the only one I would be caring for. I am free to take care of your pet most days, nights and some weekends. I work from home during the summer months so my schedule is always flexible. I currently live in a condo down the street from Lake Tahoe. There are numerous parks at the lake as well as many hiking trails to walk your dog at that are close by my place. I will always walk your dogs on a leash unless otherwise informed by owner to let run free in the woods and trails. I am very safe and responsible.
“Kathy was so wonderful with my pup Steve! She sent daily updates and it was so obvious how happy and well-cared for he was. I think Steve had the time of his life and didn't miss us for one moment!”

“Gissell is amazing! I had to drop my dog McGee off around 5:15am on a Friday and she was already up and excited to meet McGee! She sent pics throughout the day and I found out that he likes doing yoga! Thank you Gissell for your time! I hope to have him visit again soon.”

“Thank you for working so well with me and minco. Sorry we had to rush out, the kiddo and dog had my hands full. You were wonderful and hope I can rely on you in the future”

“Susan and her family were incredible! We have never left our boys with anyone who isn't family, but Susan took care of them as if they were. If you are looking for some place for your dogs to get plenty of love and attention while you are away, I absolutely recommend Susan! We have already booked our next stay with her.”

“I was brand new to the area with no established pet sitter and needed to travel last minute. Local kennels couldn’t accommodate me on such short notice. A Google search turned up the Rover app which in turn brought me to Gina and Erik. They had good reviews and repeat customers, so I contacted them via the app. They could accommodate me, had good prices, and asked me if I wanted to come see their home first. My cat is both a mama’s boy and a bit of a scaredy cat. I’d never boarded him before. I was worried he’d think he’d been abandoned again. (He’d been a stray after being adopted as a kitten. He was nine when I adopted him.) He was anxious at first, but in the pictures and videos that Gina and Erik sent, I could see that he was relaxing with them more each day. On the day I was to drive back home, I woke with a migraine. There was no way I could do the drive. I had to ask for an additional day with no advance notice. Fortunately Gina and Erik were able to keep my cat one day longer. Also, I forgot to mention the poopy mess that Gina helped me clean up when I first dropped him off. They provided me with above and beyond service. I wholeheartedly recommend them.”

“Had a great experience with Aaron and Nicole for the weekend and was grateful they could accommodate my last minute request. Bandit was happy and comfortable with them the whole time. You can tell they’re attentive, caring dog lovers. Would definitely book again!”

“Leaving your dogs is never easy, but Christine made it seamless for us and joyful for Willow and Jones. She treated them like her own, created a warm space, and shared the sweetest updates. We came home to relaxed, happy pups, which says everything.”

“What an amazingly warm and caring team. They took care of Ollie as if he was their own and sent photos and updates daily. I never hesitate reaching out to them and Ollie always comes back happy and healthy and wanting to stay longer. Highly recommend for any pup needs!”

“Could not have been a better experience! Our puppy dog Tito was treated as family during the course of his stay. Andrea was amazing at letting me know he was doing ok and I think Tito has found a new best friend with Henry! Thank you all so very much !!!”

About: I'm Rachel, a writer with a flexible schedule and a love of all things canine. I live with my husband, and my chocolate Labrador retriever, Ellie, in our West Shore cabin near Homewood. I signed up for Rover because dog sitting helps me get my fix for having a doggy harem. I would love to shower your dog with attention and affection. I volunteer at the local humane society, so I'm very adept at adapting to your dog's needs. I particularly love active dogs, and I'm happy to take your pup on hikes and swims in the lake. I'm also happy to hang out and have a more relaxing day with older, less active pups. Ellie (13) is very well-socialized, and she gets along well with dogs of all sizes. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I’m always happy to go out for a walk or a hike. Ellie, my 13-year-old Lab, is always up for meeting a new dog friend. Daycare Rates & Information: Daycare is up to 8 hours of care. Anything longer than that time, please book a boarding stay. Drop-offs anytime after 8 a.m. Pickups before 8 p.m. Although there is a nice buffer of woods near my house, the yard is not fenced (hopefully soon). I’ll be sure to keep your pup on a leash just in case! There’s an enclosed deck for sunbathing and watching chipmunks.
“Jacob and his fiancée did such a wonderful job taking care of Teddy! He provided photos and updates often and I was confident he was being well taken care of. My puppy always looked so happy and like he was always having so much fun!”

“Julia was great, able to watch our pup overnight after a last minute booking. She was great with our separation anxiety dog, took plenty of walks and potty breaks, and kept us updated through the stay. Will definitely book with Julia again when we have future needs!”
“Carly was fantastic! She went above and beyond to make the stay as easy as possible. Lots of pictures and updates made the my trip more comfortable. Ample activity and walks meant she was pretty tired after picking Krey up. Definitely would recommend.”

“This was our first foray into using Rover. Megan wonderfully handled our Great Dane, Dakota, who's skittish and energetic. One her first visit, Megan took Dakota out for a walk and on our return visit the next day Dakota eagerly pulled herself to Megan's front door. Communication with Megan was excellent and we would use her again and recommend her to our friends.”

“Patty and Randy were wonderful!! They are very kind and sweet people who took great care of our dog, Penny. When we went to pick up our pup, she was so happy to see us, yet we could tell she had been loved and felt comfortable in their home. Our pup jumped on us to say hello and jumped on Patty as to say goodbye, but thanks for watching me! :) We will definitely have Patty and Randy watch Penny again on our next trip!”

Isabelle was amazing. Super communicative and shared photos / updates during the week. She kept my dog business and well cared for and was flexible with a pre-sit meeting as well as flexible with pick up and drop off times. Would highly reccomend Isabelle for future sitting needs.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
