“Han and Patrick were great! My dog is nervous around new people but it was clear that they made him feel at home. They sent lots of pictures and were so prompt with pickup and drop off - always waiting right outside when I arrived! Han was so accommodating with last minute changes to the schedule that I had as well. Dash was well taken care of and we will rebook again!”

“Peace could not have had more fun with Michelle and Cinnamon running around in their very spacious back yard. It was a rainy day, but Peace didn't want to come inside. Michelle did a great job communicating to me and made sure Peace was dry when I picked her up. I seriously haven't seen Peace so excited about a daycare visit.”

“Fantastic time for my pup! We learned she loves cats and now has a new best friend! My dog was having fun being chased around the house by a cat. Catherine was super flexible and very attentive to Cami as well as her whole family.”

About: I have had pets for nearly my entire life. I love taking care of dogs and cats. Pets are valued family members and I will treat them as such. I am currently in law school. Pet care is something that I have balanced with school work my entire life. I plan to do pet care primarily on the weekend to ensure that all the animals under my care get the full attention they deserve. When dropping in for clients, I will make sure to leave the home as I found it, if not cleaner. I will take care to keep the pet area (feeding station, bed, yard) clean for the comfort of the pet as well as their owners.
About: Since I was five,I grew up with pets and having the responsibility of taking care of their basic and emotional needs to the best of my ability. I'm currently in college and many of the classes I take are online so most of the time I am at home caring for my cat sage! I’m so glad to be able to spend much of my time at home since I get to spend a lot of time with sage! I have a pet friendly house meaning everything in my apartment is safe and secure for the fur babies to run around and play. I also have many toys and treats to offer to any cats or dogs that I do end up taking care of! Sage is also a very friendly kitty and loves spending time with other cats, so it would be like a big sleepover for sage and whichever fur baby stays over!
“Jennifer is a fantastic dog sitter! She was so patient with our high-energy dog, taking her on multiple walks and sending us lots of photos and updates throughout the day. That really gave us peace of mind. Our dog absolutely loves her home and had the best time playing there. It’s truly the perfect place for a puppy!”

“Sully had a great time at his first ever rover experience! Bethany was communicative and shared updates during his daycare stay. Will most definitely be utilizing Bethany’s services again :)”

“Devora has been a fantastic sitter for us while we work a few days each week in the office. She sends lots of updates and is clearly very knowledgeable about dogs. She also truly seems to be such a dog lover and we’ve felt very comfortable leaving our dog in her care. We will certainly be using her again!”

“Andrew kept my boy, Jackson, all day while I went to work and then attended a play in the evening. Unfortunately, I found that the play was going to run longer than I had anticipated - so I sent Andrew a message at intermission to let him know that I would be about a half hour later than our scheduled time for me to pick up Jackson. He was very accommodating and I was very appreciative of his flexibility when something unexpected popped up. Thank you, Andrew!”

“Helena & Nathan watched my boy, Jackson, while I attended my nephew's high school graduation ceremony. Originally scheduled for the evening, stormy weather precipitated a change in time and location and the ceremony was rescheduled for much earlier in the day. Luckily, Helena & Nathan were incredibly flexible in allowing me to drop off Jackson much earlier than I expected. Jackson absolutely loved their fenced backyard - and Helena & Nathan captured multiple photos and even a little video of Jackson enjoying the outdoors. He really seemed to enjoy his time with them both. I will look forward to working with them again!”

“Yichen is a great sitter! We had a meet and greet before our first stay so that she could get to know my dog better. I think thanks to that, my dog’s stay went smoothly the next day. I appreciate her flexibility and friendliness, and I can tell my dog enjoys her stays at her place. Yichen has a playful shih tzu named Ube that my dog loves playing with. Overall, Yichen is a 10/10 sitter!”

“We asked Susan to watch our pup for a few days and were so thrilled with her service! Ruby loved playing with The Boyz, and couldn't wait to see them again each morning. Ruby is a shy dog with people she doesn't know, but she bonded with Susan very quickly, and even fell asleep in Susan's arms, which we were amazed by! Susan has a beautiful yard for the dogs to run around and play, and was fantastic at keeping in touch; sending us videos and photos throughout the day. We will definitely ask Susan to dogsit for us again in the near future!”

About: I have over two years of experience as a dedicated pet sitter, caring for neighbors’ pets through in-home sitting, dog walking, and drop-in visits while families are at work or away on vacation. I’ve developed a strong reputation for being reliable, attentive, and genuinely caring toward every animal I look after. My love for animals is lifelong—I’ve cared for my own dog, Sophia, a Wheaten Terrier–Poodle mix, for over eight years. This personal experience has strengthened my understanding of pet behavior, routines, and the importance of providing consistent, compassionate care. I’ve also taken my passion a step further academically. I completed Veterinary Science Academy courses in high school and attended a Veterinary Science summer program at the University of Pennsylvania. These experiences gave me foundational knowledge in animal health and reinforced my goal of becoming a veterinarian in the future. I bring both hands-on experience and formal training to every pet I care for, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and well-loved while their owners are away. I’m currently a college student taking a gap year, which allows me to be flexible, available, and fully committed to giving your pets the time and attention they deserve. This also means I can better accommodate different schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and last-minute requests. I take pride in being dependable and responsive, and I truly enjoy building a routine that keeps your pet comfortable, happy, and stress-free while you're away. In my home, pets are treated like part of the family. I have a fully fenced yard that provides a safe space for supervised outdoor play and exercise. I also have a friendly, well-socialized dog who loves to play and can provide great companionship for pets who enjoy being around other dogs. I always monitor interactions closely to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow your pet’s normal routine. I pay attention to feeding schedules, exercise needs, oral medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. I make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, affection, and playtime, while also keeping your home tidy and secure. No matter the setting, my goal is to create a safe, stress-free, and loving environment so your pet feels comfortable and cared for while you're away
“I have started taking my puppy to Spencer’s for training and sitting. Spencer is incredibly knowledgeable about development, how dog’s communicate, and all aspects of dog training. He has been incredibly helpful to me with suggestions and strategies to help my dog’s behavior. My dog has made so much progress. Spencer truly cares about animals and takes time to share information and follow up. I highly recommend Spencer and am grateful for his help and care of my dog.”

About: We are a family of pet lovers. We have a 3.5-year old Golden Doodle, who is neutered and a great playmate (most of the time :-). We have a caged-in bunny. We have a decent-sized fenced-in backyard. Our preteen and teenager kids provide dog-sitting to neighbors for years. We used to and still do look for pet-sitters ourselves when traveling; and want to offer that dogcare back to you. We don't have a lot of restrictions in terms of time. Most days work, but of course, need to confirm. Feel free to reach out. We have a fenced in yard of decent size and my golden-doodle to keep you pup good company. We give lots of hugs and pats, too.
“Hyunbang and Love are the best!! Dora who is usually shy 🙈 got comfortable quickly and Dora did not seem ready to leave when I came to pick her up. I got SO many photos throughout the day and I know Dora can’t wait to go back. Thank you again!!”

About: I have over 5 years of experience caring for dogs and cats! I can and will follow your instructions and recommendations. 🐶 I am available to take your dog(s) on walks and hikes, and/or the occasional bike ride. “This was the first time I ever hired a pet sitter so I was so nervous about taking this step but I’m so glad I found Ayme!! She has made this experience such a positive one and my girl Mia absolutely loved her and her family. After meeting Ayme for the first time Mia literally would run inside her house and not even give me a second look whenever I dropped her off that’s how excited she was to be with Ayme ? I was also very appreciative of the pictures Ayme would send me throughout the day. That really put me at ease too. Mia will definitely be a returning customer!”

Patrick took great care of Lily, and I always feel comfortable knowing she's in good hands while I'm at work. He is someone I trust, and it's clear that he genuinely cares about the dogs he watches. Lily absolutely loves coming to his house, and from the photos he shares, she always looks relaxed, happy, and comfortable. It's reassuring to know she's being well cared for and enjoying herself throughout the day. I highly recommend Patrick to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter or daycare provider!

We had a wonderful experience with Andrew! Shiloh looked so happy and clearly had such a great time playing with the other dogs. We really appreciated the large yard and the care and attention given throughout the day. Communication was great, and it was comforting knowing he was in good hands. Thank you again for taking such great care of our sweet boy — we would absolutely book again! 🐾

Winnie is a professional dog sitter who did an amazing job with Lily. She kept us updated regularly on how our dog was doing, including details like walks, bathroom breaks, and overall behavior, which we really appreciated. She followed all the instructions we left and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. It was clear that Lily was well cared for and in great hands. Honestly, she’s the best dog sitter we’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be booking her again in the near future!

Michelle was especially great for my first time using Rover and Mangos first day care day. She helped me navigate and understand the app and the rules. She also allowed a meet and get, which i didn't think was an option when I first started looking at the app. She suggested I always do a meet and greet. Michelle sent me photos and updates about how Mango was doing. She helped Mango be brave and play with the other dogs and son they were all playing.

Grace was absolutely great with Poppy. She provided us great updates of the day with lots of pictures, which we truly appreciated. She truly cared about Poppy's comfort at her home and followed the care instructions we provided. I have already booked our next session with her. Thank you for taking great care of Poppy, Grace!!

I just wanted to thank Sara for taking such great care of Bella. She has been doing wonderful, and it’s clear she always feels happy and comfortable staying with you. We truly appreciate your support and the attention you give her. We will definitely continue using your daycare services in the future.

Nina and Michael are amazing! Our pup Ollie boarded with them and went for daycare twice a week — it was truly the highlight of his week. When he first started, he was shy and a little unsure, but with their patient and caring approach, he gained so much confidence and really came out of his shell. They have a huge grassy backyard where the dogs can run and play, and Ollie absolutely loved spending time there with his buddies. He’d start wagging his tail the moment we pulled up! We always knew he was in great hands — Nina and Michael are attentive, trustworthy, and clearly love what they do. We’re so grateful for how much they’ve helped Ollie grow and for all the joy they brought him each week.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Strathmeade Springs commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
