Availability
Dog care in our home is a family affair. My husband, daughter and I work as a team to ensure there is little to no time that someone is not home and available through the week and on weekends. We aim for 4 - 6 outings per day starting at 6am and ending at 9pm. Walks are a minimum of 15 minutes for the quick, just need a potty break, but almost all days include longer sessions midday, or early morning and evening as the weather dictates. We are an extremely active family and are happy to provide runs, or long hikes, if your dog needs that level of energy release. Our preference is to take one client at a time, but we will accept two pets from the same home and from time to time will take on two boarders.

Dogs have free range in our home. We have an apartment in the city that is a large, two level space and our single family home in the nova suburbs of Fairfax is a large, two level space that is fully uncarpeted for stress free care of dogs or puppies that may not be fully house trained or simply have an accident. We also have a large, fully fenced in yard for running off excess energy and fetch. We have one 7 year old lab mix that is a perfect companion for any visiting dogs. He enjoys playing, but has a high tolerance for dogs that may not have fully developed canine manners. We have the ability to keep dogs separate if needed, but it is a definite bonus if your dog would like a playmate. We do not crate our dog, and do not insist on a crate for our boarders, but will use one, if necessary. Dogs beds are plentiful in our home and we are relaxed about bed sleeping, if the pet parent allows. We would like to stick to and enforce your pet normal routine as much as possible.

We would love to know as much as possible about your pets temperament, preferences, energy level and exercise requirements. Of course any dietary restrictions, medical care or needs. How often are they used to going out? Do they do well if home alone for a short time? Are they used to sleeping with you, in your room, in your bed? The more information the better so we can give the best care possible.
A typical day
We are surrounded by plenty of wooded trails and fields to explore. There are so many smells, sights and sounds to keep any dog engaged. If your dog prefers a more peaceful quiet setting we have areas that are largely unvisited by people or dogs to explore nearby.

Our home comes with over 2 decades of pet care experience and dedication. In addition to our own dog, we have fostered extensively with several rescue organizations over the years. We have taken in countless dogs, that arrived in varying stages of health, and urgently needed loving care and a home. This has led to experience with dogs with medical conditions, untrained dogs, dogs with high anxiety, etc. We have seen and cared for it all! Most of all we are reliable, highly communicative & have a high tolerance for dogs being dogs. This comes easy when you care for them out of a love for animals.

Shermane and Edouard were wonderful hosts! Very kind people who clearly love dogs and treat their guests as their own. They are both responsive, flexible and accommodating for our schedule/requests. We got lots of updates throughout Onyx’s stay, which we always appreciate. Their dog Niko is a real sweetie too! Got along so well with Onyx. It was great to see them playing together. Definitely would recommend Shermane and Edouard to others and would book again!
