“Sam sent a note that she would be early to our place which demonstrated a facet of her exceptional communication skills. She is an excellent listener as my wife and I provided an overview and asked the right questions to get the right answers. Sam bonded extremely sell with Athena, playing on the terrace, taking her out for breaks and relaxing on the couch! Sam will be supporting overnights for us during an upcoming trip. Highly recommend Sam to help take excellent care of your dog!”

“I had a wonderful experience with my pet sitter! She took great care of my cat, Julius, and gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was caring, responsible, communicative, and treated Julius like her own. I really appreciated the updates and knowing that he was safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pet. I will absolutely book her again!” 🐾❤️”

“Stephanie did a great job taking care of our two cats. One of our cats has asthma and she administered his inhaler twice a day. She was also very communicative and detail-oriented and sent great pictures of the cats. We could tell they were happy to have her taking care of them while we were gone. We would happily use her again as a petsitter. We highly recommend her.”

About: I grew up with a mom who is a veterinarian, so caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I have years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, including walking them, feeding, playing, and giving them plenty of attention. I’m reliable, attentive, and truly enjoy making sure pets feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I'm a current student at the University of Miami, and I am available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Wednesday mornings, to walk/play/feed your pups! Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I carefully follow all owner instructions, including leash requirements, feeding schedules, and any specific routines your dog is used to. I’m attentive, responsible, and make sure pets are supervised and secure at all times while in my care.

“What can we say except what a gem we found on Rover so our Sammy Sam felt comfortable and enjoyed his stay with Mia. She was excellent and sent images on a timely manner to include how often she took Sam for a walk. Will definitely keep her in mind next time we visit Miami”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and have experience with all kinds of breeds, sizes, and personalities. I’ve cared for dogs as small as 5 pounds and have even walked dogs nearing 100 pounds, so I’m comfortable with pups of all sizes! I also have some experience with cats. I genuinely love being around animals and would be happy to give your pets the same care, attention, and love I’d want for my own. I work part-time and attend school online, which gives me plenty of flexibility in my schedule. I’m able to work around different schedules and can usually be flexible with drop-ins, walks, and pet care needs. I always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for in their own environment. I follow their usual routines as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and plenty of attention and affection. I’m happy to follow any specific instructions or preferences you have for your pet, and I’ll always treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I would my own.
About: I have volunteered for 2 years at an Animal shelter in Jacksonville, Florida. Here i was responsible for walking, feeding, training, and bathing dogs of all kind. I would feed and entertain cats, as well as clean litter boxes and cages. I am currently a junior at university of miami with a very flexible schedule. Let me know whenever you need me and i’m sure I can make it work! I will provide as much comfort as possible to your pet. As an animal lover and dog owner, I completely understand how scary it may be to trust others with your pet. I promise to do everything in my power to keep your pet(s) safe. I stay focused and avoid any other dogs during walks. Your pup will have my undivided attention at all times.
“Celia is definitely someone I would recommend. She was very good at communicating and attentive to my kitties needs. There was even a little accident that the cats did while I was away and she made sure to have it all cleaned up and taken care of before I got home. Highly recommend.”

About: I’ve been doing doggie sitting for approximately a decade and officially on Rover since 2021. Our teens love dogs but at this stage in our life I (mom) is not willing to get us a pet- we have lots of love to give but we want to maintain our flexibility for travel. This is what makes Rover and excellent fit for us! I am a nurse who works until approximately 3p and I alternate hospital/home work environment. Our high school aged kiddos love nothing more than coming home to play and show your doggie lots of love! We exercise every afternoon- we are a triathlete family and love staying active, thus walking and playing outdoors with your pup would be an utter joy for us. We have a single family home with fenced in spacious back yard for your pup to explore. Front yard as well and healthy and active gated community with a park/playground near by which we frequently walk to and play in. We can and will implement any needs for your pet to make him feel right at home. We have old-ish laminate flooring and we certainly dont mind the occasional accidents that come with pets exploring and adjusting to new environments. We can adjust to almost any per routine due to our flexible work schedules. We want this time apart to be as seamless as possible for your pup and his/her family. I do not currently have any pets in our home and thus our attention and care will be fully on your pup. Siblings are always welcomed together of course!
“Emily did a great job with my cat, Princi! It was my first time having someone cat sit and she made sure I knew Princi was in good hands. She checked in everyday and sent pictures of my baby. I highly recommend Emily to watch your little one, she will give you the peace of mind that they are in good hands!”

About: My kids, pugs, and I are thrilled to meet and pamper your pets! I'm a writer/editor by trade and completely flexible to meet your needs! I’m a writer and editor by trade, around most days and out for work maybe 1-3 hours occasionally at most. It’s a full time care situation. We’re in an apartment building with a nice side area for walks and a large balcony with pet beds for lounging. It’s very laid back
About: I just moved here from Chicago to start a position at UM! I’ve been an animal, especially dog and cat, person my entire life. Since leaving home, I’ve had to leave my puppies with my family during this transition. I miss them so dearly - I hope to find some families who have pets in need of some help. It will help me fulfill my need and love for animals, and I love to help others too. I worked at a dog kennel for 2+ years previously. Training, feeding, walking, and (my fav) playing with the pups! I feel confident in my ability to take care of any dog - big or small, energetic or sleepy. I have learned the skills to create a safe, trustworthy, and stable environment for you and your pets. I’m currently working full-time and the University of Miami - but my job allows for a lot of flexibility as a lot of my work is online. I’m completely free every afternoon after 5pm and open every weekend, but throughout the day I have the flexibility for potty breaks and walks. I have a lovely dog park right next to my apartment building complex, as well as ample space in my 650sq ft apartment to escape the heat and still play. I could play and pet with dogs/dogs all day . The most important part about your pets experience is their safety, and you, the owner having peace of mind that you will pick them up happy and healthy! Before any visit, I would like to prioritize discussing your dog needs, and your needs to ensure that you know your pets is in good hands.
About: I have trained my dogs since puppyhood and have taken care of all sized dogs. I have fostered over the years and love helping pets find homes. I am patient, reliable and loving. I am available when needed. I am free weekends and at nights weekdays and am work from home so I can be at home with any of the pets. I walk my dogs for long periods of time since we don't have a yard. I have cameras in my home to monitor everyone. I give the animal their time to be comfortable with me.
“Heather was amazing with Nova! We needed someone to watch her while we were away for a day trip, and Heather stayed at our home from the morning through the afternoon. She kept us updated throughout the day with plenty of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind. Heather also brought her dog Juco who Nova had met during the meet and greet. Nova had an absolute blast having a friend to play with all day! It was clear that Heather truly cared about making sure Nova was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I highly recommend Heather (and Juco!) and will definitely be booking with her again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Nova! 🐾💕”

Sam has been helping watch our pup, Oakley, over the past few months and I cannot recommend her enough. She is reliable, kind, has great communication and takes amazing care of Oakley. She always leaves our apartment spotless. It is such a relief to have someone we can trust fully!

Joel did a great job looking over Stitch and Meeko for my weekend trip. Joel house sat for me, staying over and keeping my boys company. Joel came over a couple of times before my trip, making sure he knew where everything was. During the trip he gave me updates, sent me photo's and I felt very happy he was looking after them. Definitely recommend Joel for anyone looking for someone to trust their furbabies with.

Devin was amazing with our golden retriever, Honey! She was reliable, communicative, and took such great care of her while we were away. Honey was happy, loved, and clearly in excellent hands. We would absolutely trust Devin to watch her again and highly recommend her!

Morgan was nothing short of AMAZING! She stayed over for a week while we were away and not only did she take wonderful care of our fluff, but the space was super clean after she left! Our Aussie is wonderful but she isn't good with other dogs - Morgan had no problem keeping her separated from my mom's dogs while making sure to keep to her regular schedule! Long walks, plenty of play time in the backyard, and cuddles in bed were a regular part of their week together! I wouldn't hesitate to have Morgan take care of our little girl again :)

Sarah took wonderful care of our cat Leopold while we were away, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Leo was clearly very happy and well cared for when we returned. The house was spotless, and Sarah was great about communicating with us — especially when there was an issue with the garage door. She kept us informed and handled everything perfectly. We really appreciated her reliability and care, and would absolutely book with her again.

Hannie is AWESOME!! She handled my pack of Dobermans with ease (no small feat by ANY means) after only one meet and greet. She took amazing care of everyone, made sure they were well-fed and handled the pack dynamics perfectly. My babies were in heaven with her (she takes the cutest pics & videos!!) and were very clearly well cared for when I got home. I am so happy to have met Hannie, and my pups are obsessed with her. As a big dog owner I’m always nervous with new sitters, but I felt immediately at ease with Hannie (and my dogs were immediately obsessed with her). She followed all the instructions and went above & beyond in just making sure everyone was happy, safe, and having fun. Thank you Hannie!

Cristina was fantastic. She understood the needs of our medium to large sized rescue dog and looked after him really well. She was polite and curious and looked after our home. She sent regular updates and asked questions when required keeping good communication.

I can’t even tell you how lucky we are that we found Selena to watch our sweet dolly dog! She took care of our girl for a week at our apartment and I swear dolly is going through withdrawals from missing her! She was so communicative and dolly clearly had the time of her life! Don’t hesitate booking Selena if you want an amazing caretaker for your pet!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in South Miami on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 3,591 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Miami. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Miami walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Miami maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Miami choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
