“Kristine and Lauren were amazing with my babies. Communication was stellar and coming home the house was probably cleaner than I left it. I would use them again as the proof is in the pudding - cats and dog are very happy.”

“Shelby is so kind and takes great care of our pups! We have worked with her a few times and both of our dogs are relaxed and happy when she is here. She handles our special needs dog with care and sends updates while we are away. Highly recommend!”

“Provided us updates throughout our trip and cleaned up after the end of his last day. When we came home, dog and cat were both happy and healthy. Thanks for everything, Anthony!”

“We had an amazing experience with Breanne! She was incredibly reliable, kept us updated with great communication throughout our time away, and gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear our dogs were well cared for and happy. We truly appreciated her professionalism and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and pet sitter. We’ll definitely book with her again!”

“We are so thankful for Victoria! She took care of our 3 dogs and home for a weekend and we trusted her through out our stay. We appreciate her communication and the time she spent with our dogs. Thank you Victoria!”

“Susan was excellent. We really appreciated everything that she did for us (house sitting and dog walking) and we were very confident that our pets would be well taken care of. I will hire her again when the need arises and would strongly recommend her to anyone else.”

About: I have grown up with cats and dogs, and am familiar with many other kinds of animals. I have sat for non-family/friends and well as them included many times before! I have managed taking care of 5+ pets at once, given proper meds, care, playtime, etc. This experience ranges from kittens/puppies just a few days old, to older aged animals. I work “full time” but I work around 30 hours and I have a lot of split shifts so time before or after to check-in with the pets. This looks like morning feed, going outside, if any meds or vitamins need to be taken or same with after depending on the time of day needed. Depending on circumstances of boundaries and rules of each pet, I easily find a solution and adapt if needed. I will watch your dog/cat outside or on a leash front or back of yard. If there are off-limit areas inside our outside those will be closed doors or if there’s a gate it will be put up per clients request. If there needs to be check-ins with owner that be applicable, I am attentive to my phone, when and if necessary.
“My babies were cared for and piper was very communicative during the stay. Just some little details that need to be communicated- to please clean up after using the kitchen and also fresh water in the cat bowl as well as dog bowl. Thanks Piper.”

“Kari has redeemed the Rover experience for us with our pup Daisy. I had a stream of bad luck with other sitters not communicating well, not showing up, etc. Kari has gone above and beyond for us and we’re grateful!”

“I cannot stress how wonderful Maleka is with taking care of our dogs cats and home! She took every opportunity to help and went 110 % on all of it! If I could give 10 stars I would!”

“Whitley stayed at our house and watched our pups for a few nights. She communicated well with us and took such great care of them and our home. I would highly recommend her!”

“Caroline was a wonderful sitter! She took great care of our dog and went above and beyond to accommodate unexpected situations. We felt extremely comfortable having her and are grateful for the many ways she helped us when we were traveling. We highly recommend her!”

About: Hi, I’m Leslie! Thank you so much for stopping by my page. 🐾 I recently got divorced and moved into the area, and I’m looking forward to exploring the neighborhood and discovering all the local dog parks. I’m originally from Canada and have been around animals my entire life. Even when I visit back home in Vietnam, I somehow always find myself caring for a cat or dog during my stay! Growing up, my family ran a small business, which often meant relying on others to help care for our pets—so I completely understand how scary it can be to trust someone new with your furbaby. That’s exactly why I treat every animal I care for like one of my own—with patience, love, and attention. I currently have four pups of my own: Karsyn, Joelle, Harper, and Karter—all well-socialized and friendly. When your dog stays with me, they’ll have a fun, balanced mix of playtime, rest, and loving companionship with the pack. I have open availability and am home most of the time, so your pet will never be short on supervision or snuggles! What to Expect Pups are free to roam and play inside the house with my dogs. I make homemade treats from time to time (I’ll always check with you about allergies first). I’m always happy to accommodate any special care, medication, or feeding routines. I'm getting familiar with new parks and trails in the area, so light walks around the neighborhood are part of our daily routine. Meet & Greets I typically require a meet & greet before any booking—whether it's for boarding, daycare, or drop-in visits. This helps: Make sure everyone gets along (especially with my pups!) Give you peace of mind about where your dog will be staying Let your pup become familiar with me and the new environment Allow me to understand your home setup for drop-ins, so I can care for your pet confidently and respectfully A Final Note Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my profile. I truly love what I do, and I’d be honored to care for your furry family member. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I look forward to meeting you and your pup soon! 🐶💕 Pet sitting is my full-time job, so caring for your furry family members is my top priority. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to easily plan my day around drop in visits, feedings, playtime and check-ins. Weather your pet needs care in the morning, afternoon or evening, I can make it work. My flexibility also means I'm often available for extended care. Providing reliable, loving care isnt just part of my day, it is my day! Respecting your home and earning your trust are just as important to me as caring for your pet. I treat every home with the same care as I would my own. Keeping things clean, secure and exactly as I found them. I will typically double check that doors are locked, lights are on/off(depending on your instructions) and that your pet is safe and comfortable before I leave. This applies in my home as well. However your pet is treated at home, I will respect that routine and try to keep up to it to the best of my abilities.
“I don’t know if you’re able to review a person more than once. But I had Andrhu coming for drop in visits during my long work hours because he lives just a few blocks away. I noticed my cat who is 15 took to him right away and he paid attention to my very *particular* requests about her care. Not only did I have a significant increase in my cats level of calmness - but literally at the LAST minute I saw that the sitter I use when I’m out of town had left my cat alone for almost 24 hours. Then pushed he out of bed when the cat tried to ask for minimal attention. To say I was crushed was an understatement. I was in complete tears. I have a lot going on and am kind of a single pet parent until my husband can join me in the USA. Andrhu AGAIN was a god send. One one days notice I let the other sitter go home for personal reasons and Andrhu agreed to stay - he was with her most all day every day. I came home today, my cat happy, playing with a ball at 15 years old. And now I am comfortable purchasing a kitten to make her (and I) even happier. Knowing I have Andrhu close by - he’s SO flexible. He’s honest and communicates expectations clearly which I appreciate and respect. The amount of guilt I carry about leaving her is at a zero. Down from about 200 on my last vacation. And now with our new addition coming - I consider Andrhu to be part of my cat tribe to make sure they’re all ok. I don’t want him to get completely booked (selfishly). But this is the relationship I needed for my sweet girl until my husband is allowed to live here - and for every vacation after. I highly recommend treating him with utmost respect. I have a guest set of linens, towels and hope Andrhu will help himself to anything food or drink in my home. At this point my home is him home and even if we haven’t met he is cat-family. Hire him whenever you can. The compassion he shows to even old pets it unmatched. I’m almost crying tears of joy from having my anxiety so much reduced in this difficult time in my life.”
“Stephanie was awesome. She took great care of our girl, which was a huge relief, as this was the first time we’d left her with a sitter. She was extremely respectful of our home, even keeping my plants alive! We will definitely ask her back again .”

Kari was great! My dogs love her and it is very nice to be able to go away and be worry free! Kari sends lots of pictures and asks questions if needed. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for their pets to be cared for well and also your house to be protected!

Natalie is fabulous! She took excellent care of our dog while we were away for 10 days. She spoiled him with lots cuddles and playtime, just as we had asked! She followed our directions and she kept in touch the whole time. Excellent communication. Absolutely would recommend.

Ariana has been our regular sitter for Dax and Nickle for quite some time, and I honestly cannot say enough good things about her. She recently completed a 3-day, 2-night house sitting stay for us, and once again exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning, Ariana has been dependable, professional, and incredibly respectful of both our dogs and our home. Her communication is excellent, and she always keeps us updated with messages and photos that help us feel connected while we're away. What truly sets Ariana apart is the relationship she has built with our dogs. Dax and Nickle absolutely love her, and it's obvious she genuinely cares about them. As any pet parent knows, finding someone you trust with your pets is priceless. Before finding Ariana, leaving town was stressful because I was constantly worried about how the dogs were doing. Now, she's the reason I'm able to leave them at home and actually enjoy my time away, knowing they're safe, comfortable, loved, and receiving the same level of care I would give them myself. Trust is everything when it comes to pet care, and Ariana has earned ours completely. We are so grateful to have found her and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a sitter who is caring, trustworthy, communicative, and truly exceptional at what she does.

Caroline was a wonderful sitter! She took great care of our dog and went above and beyond to accommodate unexpected situations. We felt extremely comfortable having her and are grateful for the many ways she helped us when we were traveling. We highly recommend her!

If we could give 10 stars, we would! Ashlee went above and beyond taking care of our dog while we were away on vacation. She had great communication, sent tons of pictures and took exceptional care of both our pup and home. On top of that, she was more than willing to extend her stay due to travel complications. We will be repeat customers and are so happy we found her!

Ashley and her son took wonderful care of our Golden retriever Milo and Kitty Kerplunk. They kept them active with walks and play time and plenty of cuddles. We loved the picture updates so we could relax and enjoy our trip knowing they were well taken care of. The house was left clean and fur babies happy. I highly recommend Ashley to watch your furry family.

We left “our baby”, a 12 year old Morkie named Tasa for 2 weeks. I expressed a hope to stay in touch, maybe send a photo or two. Oh my, Karen made sure we had our fill of messages and photos. It was so heartwarming, Tasa was on a vacation of her own! We loved to see her so happy and loved. Thank you again Karen and Matt!

Cayan is literally our pup’s favorite person! He does a happy dance as soon as he sees her! She has watched Coop multiple times and always give us a peace of mind he’s safe and well taken care of. She also always takes fantastic care of our home. We appreciate her oh so much!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in South Hill on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 6,711 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Hill. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
