“Jennifer was a great sitter! She not only was able to accommodate a last minute request but took my girl on a hike and treated her like her own. Juniper had such a good time and was a very happy girl when I picked her up”

“Leah and James were amazing hosts for our two boys. They settled in very fast and had a great time. With multiple pictures and update, we felt very safe leaving our boys with them for an extended weekend. I would definitely recommend using them to anyone out there!”

“Meredith is the absolute best and takes great care of my dog. Her home is our pup’s “home away from home” whenever I travel and she treats him so well. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Meredith.”

“One of our best experiences on Rover! An amazing experience from start to finish! Our dog was treated like part of the family, and we could tell they had a great time. We loved getting updates while we were away, and it made traveling so much less stressful. We came home to a happy dog and are so grateful for the wonderful care. Highly recommend! Elizabeth is the best!”

“Silvana took such great care of our puppy Zealand while my husband and I were out of town! She kept him very active from nice neighborhood walks to having fun in their backyard to playing fetch at the tennis courts. Silvana was kind enough to send the sweetest pictures, videos and updates on Zealand while we were gone and he looked so happy and content! Absolutely recommend Silvana to watch your pet! :)”

“Our pup had a great time at Owen and Kelly’s! They were great sitters that sent frequent pictures and videos of him playing with the other dogs. I think Murph was sad to leave!”

“Rachel and Colby are the best! Our dog loves going over to their home. It’s wonderful, friendly environment, we are a repeat customer and always check with them first when we’re going out of town.”

“Alison and her daughter did a wonderful job with Izzy! We did a 6 night boarding with them. They made sure she felt right at home and is fully loved and taken care of. Izzy played and got along with their puppy Bruce. The family updated us with cute pictures and updates on how’s she is doing. We will definitely have to do boarding with them or set up a play date. Thank you for taking care of Izzy. 🥰🥰”

“Rocky LOVED staying with Kathy! He wasn't in a hurry to leave when we picked him up! It is evident how much Kathy loves animals and we were able to relax and enjoy a weekend away without worry! Rocky needs insulin so it is hard to find someone that is willing to do injections. Kathy had no problem with it. We will definitely be calling her again!”

“Adam is so reliable, trustworthy, and fun - our dog loves staying with him. He’s super communicative and sends awesome picture updates. This was our dog’s second stay with Adam, and we’ll definitely book again. Thank you!”

“They took good care of our pup, with a good communication and photo sharing. She arrived a little skittish and they set her at ease by immediately taking her for a walk. It was great to here that she had settled in well.”

“Nancy was great! We were able to meet her beforhand to see if our dog would be comfortable. He stayed with her for 5 nights. She sent photos and updates throughout his time. His demeanor was different (in a good way) than the last time we used a kennel. I would recommend and use her again.”

“Our dog, Sasha, had a great time with Mandy and her family. They took good care of her, and Sasha got to play with their dog, which she loved, and spent time with their family. They were understanding and worked with her when it came to some of her puppy habits (stealing their shoes, trying to get their food, not always wanting to sleep in her crate, not eating her own food). I would definitely use Mandy again to watch Sasha.”

“Cassandra did a great job watching our dog Boone while we were out of town. She exercised him daily and was easy to communicate with. She was very patient and flexible with Boone when he was difficult with untypical behavior being away from home.”

“This was the first time we had to find a dogsitter and leave our dog while we went on vacation. We were nervous leaving her, but Jocelyn was excellent and took great care of our 4 month old Golden, Roxy. She sent us pictures to keep us updated on how Roxy was doing. We really appreciated Jocelyn's help so we didn't have to worry about our puppy while we were gone!”

“Lane and her family were amazing. She provided regular updates and pics of the dogs. She was honest, trustworthy and made me comfortable about leaving my dogs with her. Thanks Lane!”

“As always, Toni did a great job taking care of our puppy. I appreciate the ability to travel while knowing he is well cared for as long as Toni is able and willing to watch him she will always be our first choice!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Shalamar
Parker was very responsive and made sure to follow our instructions in caring for our pup. Our pup has arthritis and certain behavioral quirks, so Parker made sure to follow the exercise guidelines we gave him and would always reach out if he had any questions or concerns. We highly recommend Parker as your next sitter!

Nicole and Joey were great with Noodle. They were great with photos and videos to communicate how things were going. They offered a meet and greet before to help determine if Noodle was a good fit and help us feel comfortable with the house and pets. Joey and Nicole are very nice and easy going and know how to handle and care for dogs! I highly recommend them!

Lauren took care of our good boy over our wedding weekend and it was great! Our dog can be pretty anxious with new situations, but he warmed up quick to Lauren and had a lot of fun. She sent us pictures of him cuddling and videos of him playing, so we know he was having a great time! Definitely would book again.

Erika was fantastic! She watched our dog for several days and nights. She was very intentional about how she spent each day with our dog- long walks, play time, snuggles, and even training sessions! We received plenty of photo and video updates and we could tell her was a happy boy. Erika is communicative, professional, and really cares about dogs. We are excited to book with Erika again!

We had such a wonderful experience with Charity and Erik! This was our first time having them care for our two dogs, and we immediately felt comfortable leaving them with them. From the moment we met Charity, it was clear that she genuinely cared about animals and would take great care of our pups. She kept us regularly updated while we were away, which gave us such peace of mind. From the photos and updates, we could tell our dogs were happy, comfortable, and enjoying their time with her. That meant so much to us! We would absolutely recommend Charity and Erik to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and reliable dog sitter. We will definitely be using her again!

5 stars-Owen kept me in the loop on how my dog was doing and I really appreciated it. The photos were great and I loved getting those updates. He was also flexible on pick-up times when my flight was delayed and it was a real life saver. I highly recommend Owen!

Amy was AMAZING. When we brought our dogs for the meet and greet, they took to Amy almost immediately. We had never left them with anyone before, especially for 8 nights, but she reassured us daily with pictures and updates, they were good and getting along with everyone. I will 100% be using Amy again for our next special weekend or vacation week.

Krista and Ryan were WONDERFUL! My two dogs aren’t easy and I was incredibly stressed to leave them for the first time with new people, but they were accommodating and very understanding. They walked the dogs a few times a day and spoiled them with cuddles! Krista sent lots of pictures and put my mind at ease. I would highly recommend them!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Shalamar home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Shalamar.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Shalamar sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in UT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
