About: I've been caring for dogs since I was a kid and have experience as a trusted, reliable dog sitter over the last decade. Whether it's a playful puppy bursting with energy or a senior dog needing a gentle walk, I tailor my approach to meet each dog's unique needs. I'm skilled in reinforcing new commands and enjoy working on training, ensuring each dog not only has fun but also learns and grows. From energetic outings at the dog park to leisurely strolls for the golden oldies, I provide attentive and loving care, making sure every dog is happy, healthy, and well-exercised. And not to worry, I shower every pup with a ton of love and affection making sure they know they're loved while away from their dog mom or dad. I am self-employed and have a flexible work schedule so I can take care of your pet while you're out. I'm happy to take on last-minute walks and drop-in to get outside and little exercise for myself. For over night or long-term stays, my own kitty is well-cared for by my husband. I make sure to take the time to introduce myself to your pet, allowing them to come to me and sniff and check me out. I usually kneel down to get on their level and, as long as okay to do so, will offer a treat or two to get on their good side. I will try initial commands such as "sit" and "come" to gauge their responsiveness to me and rest assured, I ensure dogs are on-leash if not in an enclosed, safe area where you have said is okay to allow them off-leash.

About: For three years I’ve lived in a home with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. One is a senior at 12 years old and the other is still in his adolescent phase at 2 1/2. I’ve learned how to adapt to their different needs based on age and personality while setting boundaries and aligning to my Housemate’s desires for their care. (Which has helped me get to know new dogs pretty quickly.) We walk, play and cuddle. When needed I administer medication, feed them, and sometimes cook for them. I look forward to chatting with you about your family’s needs. I am available: 12-2pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Evenings Monday-Friday. Most weekends are open. I am also available for some overnights, which can be discussed. I am available to spend time with your pet(s) in their home where they will be the most comfortable. I’ll come to you for walks.

“Jacob provided exceptional care for our cats while we were away. His communication was great, with regular updates and photos, giving us peace of mind. Highly recommend for anyone needing a reliable and caring cat sitter!”

“Lauren did a great job of feeding and cleaning up after the kitties who manage to spread their litter EVERYWHERE. it was nice coming back to clean Kitty dishes and cleaned up litter after time away. Loved the photos too”

“Yena did a wonderful job caring for my kitties. She gave the friendlier one lots of play time and observed the spicy one lovingly, giving him the leeway to come near her on his own instead of keeping to his usual post guarding the bedroom. She sent many sweet updates as well. I would be happy to have her tend to my cats again for sure.”

“Becky went above and beyond in taking care of our cats. She was incredibly communicative, quickly responded to our cats' many antics, and was attentive to every detail of their care. Because of her great sense of humor, we were excited every time a new Rover card was posted, where her love and care for our cats was apparent. It can be hard to leave your pets with a stranger, but we felt completely at ease knowing that Becky was taking care of them. We would recommend her to all pet parents looking for a reliable and conscientious sitter.”

“Sam was exactly who I needed to care for my pups. She is warm and friendly, affectionate with animals, on time and reliable. My dogs couldn't have been in better hands!”

About: I’m animal lover at heart. Grew up with all types of pets and have always bonded and taken care of pets of friends and roommates. I am an active person who loves to be outside exploring the neighborhoods and parks. Excited to meet and care for neighborhood furry friends! I’m a stay at home dad of 2 boys and pretty much available on weekdays from 9am to 2pm - but also flexible beyond those times if needed. I have a fenced in yard and a friendly young dog at home. Crate is available if needed. I also have 2 boys ages 10 and 12 who love animals and are responsible.

About: Ciao! My name is Matt and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to meet you and some of the amazing pets we have here in the city. I currently live near the rose garden/Piedmont. I live close to several other parks, and I always enjoy meeting new pet friends that come my way. I really don't have many restrictions, but all I ask is that if you are interested in meeting to discuss my services that we have great communication (whether it's email, call/text, etc.) I work from home during the week and actively get outside myself, so I'm sure we could work something out if you need help with your pet! Comfort and exercise go hand-in-hand in my experience. Play time and treats are always possible. Companionship is a must and routine is our next best friend.

About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience and calm, confident approach to pet care. I grew up caring for a German Shepherd and, starting at 16, three bulldogs—so I’m comfortable with big personalities, strong breeds, and all the drool that comes with them! I’ve also dog-sat for friends and taken their pups on regular walks, including those with anxiety or special routines. I’m patient, observant, and always make sure pets feel safe and loved while their humans are away. Whether your dog needs a running buddy, your senior cat needs a quiet companion, or your anxious pup just needs someone who understands—I’m here. I’m a morning person with a flexible schedule. Avid runner so can work with high energy dogs. I’m also available for evening walks and check-ins—perfect for pets with routines or extra energy. I’m able to provide more schedule details. I prioritize comfort, safety, and trust. I take time to get to know each pet’s personality and routine—whether that’s quiet companionship for cats or daily walks and play for dogs. On walks, I stay alert and avoid unfamiliar dogs unless I have permission to interact, always keeping your pet’s safety first. For cats, I create a calm, low-stress environment, keep their space tidy, and respect their boundaries.

“Danielle is amazing!!! She is so attentive to our puppy that we consider our furry kiddo. I have confidence that when we arrange for her to come by while my husband and I are at work that our puppy is well cared for with love and close attention to his needs! ”

“Jes is awesome and he does a great job with Cheezit! He made sure she had the fan on when it was hot and cleaned up an ant invasion - definitely goes above and beyond when caring for her. Being able to call on him makes it easy to head out of town for a long weekend!”

“I needed someone to help us with caring for our adult dog and puppy while I recovered from surgery. Our adult dog Winter doesn’t warm up to everyone but Simone is one of the few exceptions! Simone cared for our dogs just as we would have, and was great about communicating the details of her visits with them back to us. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve been a pet parent for 16 years and worked with animals for 3 years at the SF SPCA, where I received training on positive reinforcement techniques and fear-free pet training. My sensitive senior dog has taught me how to be patient and observant when working with the shyest, most misunderstood pups! I parent part time, so I’m available for dog walking or sitting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and some Fridays. I’m also available Wednesday and Thursday mornings and early afternoons. Currently, I’m offering visits to clients homes only. I prefer a meet and greet prior to appointments to go over your needs and to make sure it’s a fit.

“Emily is a fantastic pet sitter! She was always quick to respond to my questions and concerns and sent photos of my cat at each drop-in. She is super dependable and a great communicator. I will definitely ask her to cat sit again in the future.”

“Awesome job caring for my pups while I was gone!”

About: Hello! I am a recent graduate of George Mason University (M.A.) and I recently moved to the Oakland/Berkeley area. I have an approximately 14 year old rescue dog named Daisy who has kidney disease and other chronic conditions. So I have quite a bit of experience caring for older pets, administering medication, and taking slow careful walks. I regularly hire dog walkers off Rover for her while I'm at work, and it inspired me to join as well! I also have experience caring for my family dogs, a young Shih Tsu and an elderly Bichon. I love dogs of all sizes, and one of my favorite breeds is pitbulls/Staffordshire terriers. I also have experience caring for two pet rats. I am always on time, detail oriented, and will send you lots of pictures of your fur baby. I currently have availability all day Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and availability before 12pm Tuesday, Thursday. I have availability on Saturdays if given a week notice. I cannot board dogs in my home, but I promise to be respectful and mindful in your home and of your wishes regarding the care of your pet.

Kelsey M.
“Kelsey has been an amazing sitter and walker for our dogs over the years. She’s taken great care of our labradoodle, Leia, and my sister’s terrier, Maddy, for everything from daily walks to week-long stays. He has always given us peace of mind leaving our beloved pups with her. When Leia was a puppy, Kelsey was great about reinforcing her training and keeping up with her morning and evening walk routine. She’s always gone the extra mile to make sure the dogs got plenty of exercise, whether that meant playing fetch, going for hikes, or just giving them lots of attention and love. One of our favorite parts was getting regular updates and adorable photos of Leia and Maddy! We couldn't believe she got them to sit for a Christmas photo in their sweaters one year. It was such a sweet touch and made being away from them a little easier. We’re so grateful for Kelsey’s care, reliability, and the joy she brought to our pups. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will treat your dogs like family.”

Charlene K.
“Charlene was such a delight to have for my pets. I have an an elderly somewhat cranky dog with some higher needs and two cats with very different personalities. She was able to really meet them where they were at. She made me and the animals feel comforted and assured. She seems to really have a genuine care for animals and understands them. And was really great at communicating about them when i wasnt around..which as you know can help ease ones nerves when you are away from your furry babies. Would highly recommend!”

Quincy G.
“Quincy is fantastic! Our rescue dog Ollie is aggressive with anyone she doesn’t know. This is a dog who can’t even be groomed without general anesthesia. We haven’t been able to travel in the 4 years we’ve had her because no one, I mean NO ONE, can take care of her. We found Quincy and that all changed. Quincy was able to put in the time and effort to come to the house weekly for several months before our trip to gradually desensitize Ollie to her. Visit by visit she built trust so that by the time we went on our 6 day trip, Ollie was ready. Quincy was able to build enough trust in our scared girl to where she could walk her twice daily and spend time with her so she didn’t get lonely while we were gone. What a relief for us! We were able to relax and enjoy our trip without worrying for Ollie or her caregiver’s safety because Quincy is super caring and skilled and is well versed in animal behavior and reading animal body language. I knew that she could handle Ollie and I knew that even though Ollie still had her innate fears, deep down she trusted Quincy, too. We would recommend Quincy to anyone looking for a pet sitter, but especially if you have a pet with special needs — Quincy is a miracle-worker!”

Shafter pet parents share their Rover experiences
Cindy and Cesar took such great care of my cat Olive . I was able to travel in peace knowing that Olive was safe and receiving attentive care.

Overall, Tia was great! She communicates well and responds promptly to messages. She clearly loves animals and they love her. Added bonus: she can be counted on to handle missteps professionally. I would use her service again.

Thomas has stepped in to help me after my dog suffered a surprise bout of IVDD. When I come home my puppers seem happy and well cared just as if they had been with me all day. I appreciate Thomas's experience with senior dogs and bladder expression. That was really important to me in my search for support. You can't go wrong with this Rover, friends. 12 stars!

This is our first time using Rover and we are grateful that Hannah responded on such short notice! We just adopted our dog and he’s still apprehensive and not quite used to his new environment yet. Hannah was so sweet and gentle with him and earned his trust right away. Hannah communicates well and adjusted to our needs and our pup’s needs extremely well! Thank you Hannah!

Jesse is amazing and is both responsive to the owner and loving to the cats. The cats were so at ease with the visit and I feel relaxed leaving them knowing he's the one who will be with them. A real animal person! Highly recommend

Jiayi is incredible. In just 1 day, she's taken the time to learn Frances' routines, favorite things and tricky things. She's very caring, very communicative and our pup just loves her. Definitely hire Jiayi if you're looking for help! She has just made dog care so so so much easier.

Our cats were very happy and healthy when we returned from a two week trip! Thank you Laurette for taking such good care of them!

Laura is absolutely fantastic - she has become a recurring sitter for my baby Peanut because she is that good! Responsive, kind, and sends tons of pictures and updates.

Jes was extremely helpful taking care of our senior cat, Moses! He was able to deliver multiple medications and was very easy to communicate with. We really appreciated his experience working with senior animals with medical needs and definitely recommend him if you want a reliable and considerate sitter.

I re-booked with Joyce and I’m so glad I did! I love the pictures and message she sends at the end of her visits with my Momo. Highly recommend!!

Jalyn was fantastic with my cat! She was super friendly and attentive to my cats needs. She provided detailed updates that were great to receive while I was away. I will definitely rebook if I need a catsitter in this area again!

Incredibly diligent, caring and communicative. Went above and beyond, checking water fountains, letting us know how their litter was, and even brought in our trash cans. You can tell Jacob really cares about cats!

This was the second time Heidi took care of our kitties! Appreciated her thorough daily updates and pics. Thrilled and surprised that Violet warmed up so quickly! Heidi truly has the magic touch

I was very happy with my entire experience with Ana, she came to meet me on time, she took great care of my cat and communicated with me in a timely manner. Would definitely ask her to check on my cat again. Would highly recommend her.

Jennifer was fantastic and personable. She responded immediately to help get on the same page. I feel like checking in on our cats and making sure they had food and water probably isn’t the most intensive gig, but it required more back and forth than I would have guessed. She easily adapted to what we wanted and our texts back and forth were easy and humorous like we’d known each other already. She went above our admittedly pretty simple requests best of all, our sometimes standoffish cats seemed to be at ease with her from the photos she sent daily. Would absolutely book her again.

Yena did a wonderful job caring for my kitties. She gave the friendlier one lots of play time and observed the spicy one lovingly, giving him the leeway to come near her on his own instead of keeping to his usual post guarding the bedroom. She sent many sweet updates as well. I would be happy to have her tend to my cats again for sure.

It is hard to put into words how amazing Alexandra was with our cat and home. She took the time to get to know him, was incredibly caring and kind, communicated with us about everything and went above and beyond our expectations. Brava, Alexandra, you are a rare gem and we are incredibly grateful!

Ashley is so great with Rusty, and with making us feel at ease for his first walker experience! Ashley was super familiar with how to manage his excited behaviors, how to effectively walk him with his special collar, how to respond to his vacuuming and jumpiness, and how to make him feel comfortable :) We highly recommend Ashley!
