“Bottom line, this was my second time using Vivian and she is my go to person to watch Mello. She watched Mello while I was out of town for a few days. During that time, I received updates on how Mello was during in both picture and video form. Mello looked forward to going over for doggie daycare and play with Biscotti. Vivian treated Mello like she was her with dog. Looking forward to using her again in the future”

About: I've been with dogs since I was a kid, and honestly, I can't explain my attachment to these beautiful souls. When I look into their eyes, I see pure love—and I believe they deserve nothing less in return. For years, I've onboarded and cared for dogs, learning their personalities, their quirks, their fears. I understand separation anxiety deeply, and I make it my mission to turn your absence into comfort, not stress. When your dog stays with me, they're not in a kennel or with a "sitter." They're at home. Your pup will have: 1) A warm, cozy vacation home where they're part of my family—including my own dog, who provides constant companionship and helps anxious pups feel safe 2) Adventure & Exercise: Long walks, hiking trails, and outdoor playtime—because a happy dog is an active dog 3) Structure with Love: Meals on schedule, plus treats I've earned through their good behavior—think fresh boiled chicken, their favorite reward 4) Real Connection: I treat every dog like my own. Not because it's my job, but because I genuinely can't help it. I work from home, so the pups get 24/7 care and attention. My day revolves around the dogs: morning walks, midday adventures, weekend trials, regular potty breaks, scheduled meals, playtime, and constant companionship. They're never alone—never crated—never waiting. They won't experience separation anxiety here. They'll experience a loving home where they're part of my daily routine, every single day. Pups get a warm, cozy, dog-friendly environment where they're treated like family. They have access to comfortable spaces, toys, water, and safe outdoor areas. My own dog is here too, providing constant companionship—especially important for dogs with separation anxiety. They're never alone, never crated. Daily Care in My Home: Nutrition: Meals on schedule, portion-controlled, with fresh boiled chicken treats (their favorite!) Exercise: Multiple walks and hikes daily, playtime, outdoor adventures based on each dog's energy level Comfort: Bedding, safe spaces, cuddle time, and the security of knowing I'm always here Attention: Individualized care—I learn each dog's personality, fears, and needs from day one Health: Medication management, scheduled potty breaks, and monitoring their wellbeing
“Lydia was absolutely wonderful with our pup Joey today. She was warm, welcoming, and very friendly, which instantly put me at ease. Joey can be quite shy and anxious, but Lydia took great care of him and made sure he felt comfortable throughout the day. I really appreciated the regular updates with photos, which kept me reassured that Joey was doing well. Overall, we are very pleased with Lydia’s care and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful and reliable dog sitter.”

About: We’re a husband-and-wife team with a lifelong love of animals and years of experience caring for both dogs and cats—especially rescues. We’ve worked with anxious and reactive pets, administered medications, and provided the extra attention they need to feel safe and comfortable. Our own family includes a 65lb rescue Foxhound and a rescue tabby cat, so we understand the quirks and joys that come with rescue pets. Audrey works from home full time, and Shane is a teacher, which means we have a flexible schedule and your pets won’t be left alone. We’ll make sure they’re happy, healthy, and loved like our own. Audrey works from home full time and Shane is a teacher, so someone will be home with your pet at all times. We make it a priority to follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible to help them feel comfortable and secure. Our typical day looks like this: 6–7 AM: Wake up, potty break in the yard, and breakfast 12–1 PM: 45-minute walk 4–5 PM: Playtime in the yard, potty break, and dinner 8–9 PM: Final potty break in the yard before bedtime For dog boarding: Our dog loves meeting and playing with other dogs, so your pup will have a built-in playmate. Our cat will always be kept in a separate room to ensure everyone’s comfort. Since Audrey works from home full time and Shane is a teacher, your dog will always have company and supervision. For cat boarding: Your cat will enjoy a private guest room set up just for them, complete with a litter box, cat tree, toys, and all the comforts they need. To help them feel secure, one of us will spend time in the room during the day—often working from there—so they’ll have companionship and attention throughout their stay.
“Newton loved his stay with Sue, so much that he didn't want to leave when we picked him up. She has a nice piece of property that gives the dogs plenty of room to run around outside but also inviting enough to snuggle up inside.”

“Thank you so much, Hannah, for taking care so well of Lucy! I can tell she had a great time with you and I would always trust you with her again. I loved the pictures you shared during her stay and the smooth drop off and pick up process. Thank you once again!”

About: I genuinely love animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. I am patient, attentive, and take the time to learn each pet’s personality and needs. I understand how important it is for owners to trust the person caring for their pets, so I focus on providing reliable care, following instructions carefully, and keeping owners updated. My goal is to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their families are away. I care for my own kitten and dog every day, so pet care is already a regular part of my routine. Feeding, cleaning up after pets, playing with them, and making sure they’re comfortable are things I do daily. I enjoy being around animals and can dedicate time each day to caring for pets. I provide pets with a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. I follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise routines, medications (if needed), and any special care requirements. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, playtime, and affection while respecting their individual personalities and needs. In a client’s home, I treat their home and pets with respect, keep everything tidy, and provide updates so owners know their pets are doing well.
“I had a great experience! Kaylyn and Naman accommodated my last minute booking and took great care of my dogs. I’ll definitely be booking with them in the future!”

About: Dogs have always been an important part of my life. I cared for my Miniature Schnauzer for many years, including times when he required extra care due to health issues. That experience taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of understanding each dog’s unique needs. I spend most of my time at home, allowing me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I do my best to maintain each dog’s normal routine so they feel comfortable during their stay. ✨ What you can expect: 🐾 Personalized Care: I keep the number of bookings limited so each dog receives plenty of affection, supervision, and individual attention. Exclusive one-on-one care may also be available upon request. 🏡 Easy Yard Access: Our living space connects directly to the yard. Since the yard is unfenced, dogs are always leashed and supervised during outdoor time. 📸 Frequent Daily Updates: I love sending plenty of photos and videos throughout the day so you can see how your pup is doing.
“Taylor is a wonderful dog sitter who has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly personable and treats my dog, Wynter, like family. Wynter has become best friends with Taylor's dog, Stuffy, and her bagel, forming a delightful trio. Taylor's loving and attentive care has made every experience stress-free for both me and my dog. It's evident that she has a genuine love for animals, and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a compassionate and reliable pet sitter.”

“Once again an amazing day of daycare with Nina! Coco has so much fun with Kobe and Maggie, he loves it! Nina is an excellent communicator and her photo and video updates of Coco going about his day are super adorable. We feel very comfortable and at peace leaving Coco in Nina's care. Thank you!”

I had a wonderful experience with Lydia and can’t recommend her enough. She is incredibly responsive, which gave me peace of mind from the very beginning. Communication was consistent, thoughtful, and timely—something that really matters when you’re trusting someone with your pet. What stood out the most was the level of care and patience she showed. My dog can be a bit resistant in new environments, but she handled it with such calmness and understanding. It was clear they took the time to build trust and make my pet feel as comfortable as possible. It’s not easy to find someone who combines professionalism with genuine care, but she truly does. I felt confident knowing my pet was in good hands, and I will absolutely be using her services again.

Mark and Mariette welcomed our girl into their home. We had a last minute booking and Mark was very responsive. Our lab didn’t settle easily as it was her first stay, and they made sure to give her special walks until she acclimated. She seemed to enjoy herself and their other guests were gentle and sweet doggies. They moved together as a pack through the house in the morning so it was evident that the dogs were all comfortable and welcome. Highly recommend and thank you!

Gurpreet was a fantastic sitter! She accepted our last minute daycare request and took great care of zeph during that time. She was super communicative, sent tons of pictures and videos and made sure zeph had a long potty walk during his stay. It was clear that zeph had a great time when he was with Gurpreet! Would happily come back when I'm in the area again! Thank you so much for watching zeph for me last week!!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
