“Lexie is a wonderful dog sitter. She has tons of experience with and loves dogs, and they love her back. My girls were well taken care of during my recent trip, and Lexie kept in touch with me throughout my trip. I've already booked her for another stay!”

“Ashley took good care of my cat, played with her and sent lots of pictures. She communicates well. My cat really liked her and was relatively calm on my return. I arrived back home to find my house much as I had left it. No problems!”

“Sebastian did an excellent job housesitting Sophie and Maerwynn for 9 days. He communicated well throughout the stay, sending regular updates that gave us peace of mind. When Maerwynn wasn’t eating normally, he expressed concern right away, which helped us quickly resolve the situation. He was punctual, self-sufficient, and left our home clean and just as we had left it. I would gladly welcome him back in the future.”

“Cecelia was professional, skilled, in tune, patient, loving, responsive, reliable and responsible. I highly recommend her! She took excellent care of my Frenchie who required extra attention to details and care. I was able to travel for work without worry. Cecelia kept me update, sent photos and gently made progress with Luna. My cat Aldo seemed comfortable and content upon my return.”
“Nikki was great! My dog was clearly happy and in good spirits when I came home. She communicated well, and my house was just as I left it when I got back! Will definitely book with her when I go out of town next!”
“Jinah was outstanding! She sent daily messages and photos to keep me updated and took very good care of my dog and cat. She also watered my plants and left my house in perfect condition. She is professional, thorough, compassionate and very helpful. My dog is a large Old English Sheepdog. Many people struggle with his energy, but Jinah was completely comfortable with him and was able to handle him. I highly recommend Jinah.”

“Kaitlin did a great job and we will definitely be requesting her to house/cat sit again. She sent frequent updates on our cats and I came home to happy cats and house in order. Highly recommend!”

About: I’m the lady who crosses the street to ask if I can pet your dog. I love all dogs, but big dogs have my heart. I confess, I’m also the lady that will remember your dog’s name, age and origins, but perhaps not always your name. Although I have the confidence and experience to befriend your big dogs, that shouldn’t suggest that I don’t love our smaller friends, as well. Big and small, I love them all❣️ I’ve been responsible for animals most of my life. Chiefly, I’ve had the privilege to care and own big dogs. Growing up, we had a Sheppard-Mastiff mix, and that’s when my love for big dogs began. In our house, we had a macaw, cockatoo, kākāriki, ring-necked parakeet, and a cockatiel, tropical/ saltwater fish, dogs, and cats. I continue to be a proud breed ambassador and have owned 4 Rottweilers over the years. I’ve been gainfully employed as a civil servant for 25 years. After my last Rottweiler passed away, I wanted to care for a dog again, but haven’t adopted quite yet. I enjoy hiking, outdoor activities, walking and traveling, and of course dogs! I’ve had the privilege to care for our misunderstood and sometimes reactive dog friends, as well. All dogs deserve love. I helped welp Belgian Malinois puppies and ensure they found loving, deserving homes. I joke that, “If the choice was between world peace or puppies, I would choose puppies.” I can’t wait to meet your doggie! Since I’m a civil servant, my schedule is consistent. I have free nights and 3-day weekends. I enjoy a lot of free time that I would like to fulfill with dogs. I have a secured, fenced yard. I can also kennel your pets as well. My responsibility to you is ensuring your family member is secure in my charge.
“It was our first time having Mia watch our two Siberian Huskies. One can be very stand-offish and Mia understood her personality. She sent texts with pix of our happy dogs. She was a pleasure to meet and the dogs did great with a new person in the house! I will definitely use Mia again.”

“Peter was very attentive to our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Hijo. It was very clear that he made Hijo his priority and Hijo was so comfortable with him that Peter got to see some of his antics usually reserved for folks he knows well. We felt very confident Peter had everything under control while we stepped away. Jen”

“Karen cared for my two cats and one dog for almost a full week while I was away, and she was absolutely amazing! It’s always hard for me to leave my pets, but she made the entire experience so much easier and stress free. She sent regular updates and lots of photos, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my pets were happy and well cared for. My dog has some separation anxiety and my cats can be a bit shy at first, but they all warmed up to her quickly! It was clear she took the time to really connect with them and pay attention to their individual needs. I also really appreciated how respectful she was of my home, everything was clean and well taken care of when I returned. I’m so grateful I found Karen and will definitely be booking with her again in the future!”

“Thad was prompt, communicative, and great with my dog. He kept the house in good shape and watered the garden as instructed. He is very personable. I enjoyed meeting him and will call him again.”

“I really appreciated Toni's attention to detail and the thoughtful questions she asked about our pets' care. She provided updates and photos and was very responsive. It was great that she also watered our plants and brought a package in for us. I would rebook with her in the future and recommend her.”

“Samantha did a wonderful job house sitting for my elderly cat. She loves cats and she and Tiger took to each other right away. He was very happy when I got home and so was my house. I will definitely hire Samantha’s again.”

“Lauren was great! She confirmed with me the day before, which was awesome. Lauren was on time, communicative throughout the day, and sent pics. My dog loved her right away and I knew it was a match made in heaven. Thanks Lauren!”

“We had a great experience with Andi! This was my first time using Rover and upon meeting her I felt very comfortable having her in my home with dog. She sent photo updates which I appreciated and my dog must have had a great time because he was pooped out when I got home. Thank you Andi! I highly reccomend her and will definitely book with her again.”

“Very very sweet and so patient with my boys. She took the time to understand their needs and give them care. I would recommend her services to anyone needing gentle care for their pets. I will be using her services again.”

Benjamin was a wonderful housesitter for our dogs and stayed in our home for almost two weeks. He was friendly, punctual, responsible, and very responsive throughout his stay. It was clear that he genuinely enjoyed spending time with our dogs and took great care of them. He left our home clean and in great condition, and we felt completely comfortable having him stay. I would definitely recommend Benjamin and would be happy to have him sit for us again!

Toni was wonderful with our 18-yo cat - she is a little high maintenance in her old age, but Toni was so sweet and loving and indulged all of her needs. She updated us with pictures and details, which helped us not worry while we were away. Toni also came to the house in advance to learn our routines and genuinely cared to understand our needs. We came home to a happy kitty and a spotless home. I'd definitely book Toni again in a heartbeat!

Once again, Trey has done a fabulous housesitting job with our two cats. They are healthy and happy after a month and I always feel fully confident in leaving them with Trey. We can't thank him enough for being so considerate and thorough, getting to know the cats completely, and truly caring for them. Thank you, Trey!
Brianna stayed at our house and took car of our cat and chickens for three weeks while we were out of town. We highly recommend her and will definitely use her services again in the future. She was very reliable, self sufficient and able to solve things as they arose, and very attentive to our animals needs. Our cat is a very attention needy cat with some odd behavior like biting and Brianna won her over and loved on her without any hesitation. We came home to a well loved and content cat. Brianna also took special care of our chickens during the heat wave, tending to their needs. We also came home to a freshly cleaned house which was very much appreciated. Brianna was wonderful and we highly recommend her.

Jan was wonderful watching my three dogs overnight. She was communicative throughout, sending timely updates and photos so I always knew how they were doing. She was respectful of my home and took wonderful care of the pups, making sure they felt comfortable and safe. I'd book her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter who can manage a pack of dogs!

Myrea was amazing! I was in a bind and needed someone to watch my dog while I was away on vacation. Not only was she the quickest to respond to my request, but she was also incredibly accommodating. The night before my trip, I realized I had accidentally booked the wrong dates. Myrea was able to adjust her schedule and come a day earlier, which was a huge help. She kept me updated with photos and messages about Theodore, and she even watered my plants while I was gone, which I really appreciated. She was kind, communicative, and very respectful of my home. Most importantly, Theo absolutely loved her! I wouldn't hesitate to book with Myrea again, and I'm looking forward to having her watch Theo in the future.

Rebecca is amazing! Totally sweet and professional. She took care of our 3 cats and our newly moved into house while we were away for work. We got regular updates and photos of our three cats and kept everyone well fed, entertained and loved. She was very flexible with our changing schedules and patient with our disorganization while we moved. She is now our go-to pet sitter any time we go out of town (hopefully you’re okay with that Rebecca 😂). Hire her!!!…. but also don’t book her when we need her 😂. Thank you so much Rebecca! ❤️

Kaitlin housesat for us and did a phenomenal job! We have a senior dog with dietary restrictions and daily medications and three cats. Kaitlin not only provided excellent care, she provided daily updates and frequent pictures. She was communicative and proactively maintained our household even when unexpected issues came up. We came home to happy, healthy pets, a spotless home and a thriving garden/plants. We will definitely ask her to housesit for all our future family trips!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Santa Rosa on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 1,034 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Santa Rosa. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Rosa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Rosa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Rosa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Santa Rosa. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
