“Dominique was the best! She was very attentive, communicative, and amenable to both our dogs and our needs. She left our house exactly how it was when she got here. From her updates, I could tell the dogs were well taken care of and loved on. I would absolutely book with her again and will definitely recommend her to my friends who are looking for sitters in the future.”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rithy! She is timely, communicative and treats your pet like they’re her own. This was my first time using Rover and I feel lucky to have found Rithy. She stayed with Clover for the weekend, texted me photos of their adventures, and she made homemade food for Clover! I think they both had a great weekend together.”

“Gina did such a great job taking care of the place and making sure I had regular updates and photos throughout my trip. It meant a lot to have that peace of mind. She is truly an animal lover and I am so glad I found her! Definitely would recommend. Excellent job!”

About: Beyond my thrilling experiences taking care of, and providing fun/enrichment for, a wide variety of animals throughout most of my life, I quickly get tuned into an individual pet's needs. While continuous learning means always researching more about any animals under my care, I also understand that proper care is more beneficial by trying to bond with your pet. But I promise I won't try to become their most favorite person! :-) I have been working remotely as an independent consultant but without any new full-time contracts recently. While still pursuing part-time remote work (contracts or employment), I wanted to maximize my additional time towards supporting pet parents who need a sitter, dog walker, or anything else for their pets that I can provide. As I have a free-roam house rabbit of my own, I can only care for pets at a client's home. (Or on walks, at the dog park, or elsewhere as reasonably requested/permitted by the client.) Your pet's care & safety, comfort, and enrichment are my top priorities.
“Melissa did a fantastic job taking care of Ansel and our house. She had no problem dealing with all of his quirks and I think she really understood him. He got all the snuggly attention he craves (which is a lot!). She also looked after our veggie garden and various plants (bonus that she's a gardener herself). We felt totally at ease knowing Melissa was there with Ansel while we were away. I know it was a treat for him as well to have a new friend. Thanks Melissa!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats & other pets since I was a teenager. I can also take care of other pets if necessary. Thanks! I am very flexible with my availability. Being outside with nature is necessary for my well being so pet care is second nature to me. I will take great care of your fur bbs in your home. I will give them pets, snuggles, food & play with them! I will be present with your pets while you are away to ease their separation anxiety & make sure they have the proper care.

I work part time so I have a flexible work schedule, I’m use to dedicating time to caring for animals, I have lots of free time. I play with them, feed them, give them water, take them on walks, let them play outside as needed, give them attention, ensure their health.
“Morgane took really good care of my cat and my apartment. My kitty (who's not always the most friendly) took to her instantly, cuddling & even sharing a bed with her :) You can tell Morgane is a caring, attentive, and experienced petsitter. 10/10 recommend Morgane!”

About: Animal caretaker at horse ranches, farms, and house pets with a lifetime of experience. Horse mom and dog mom to a very sweet 9 yr old Rottie-Shepard named Leif. Self-employed, so I spend all my time with my own pup. He loves playing with other dogs, so we want to host some furry friends! We live on 1/2 acre with a deck for napping on and a nice yard full of sticks and tennis balls. Several big dog beds. Right next to walking trail. Potty breaks can be on leash, on tie out, or off leash with supervision depending on owner preference. Have medium and XL crates available for use, but bring what makes your dog comfortable. All good dogs with parent permission that are allowed car rides may get dog park trips, easy hikes, or beach days depending on our schedule and the weather. Puppies and senior dogs welcome. I understand complex feeding schedules and medication and am happy to stick to your routine. Photo and video updates daily. Your dog will be tired and happy when you get home! I’m a self-employed, part-time remote work from home weekday mornings and local gigging musician on weekends, gone for around to 3-4 hours. Wifi camera set up with access on my phone, with microphone and speaker. My yard is mostly fenced, except for the front of the driveway. I live on the back part of 1/2 acre that is fenced. Dogs will be supervised for potty breaks, on leash or off depending on owner preference and behavior. Can also supervise on tie out for potty-shy dogs. Play on the yard and between dogs is supervised with walks on bike trail and adventures to nearby parks when allowed.
“Peter was great. He took the time to connect with our Great Dane in advance so that their time together was as seamless as possible. He provided updates during our time away about our dog and home. He took great care of our pup and our home.”

“Ashley was amazing!! This was our first time using rover so we were a little nervous to have someone stay at our home with our pup but Ashley made this a stress free, reassuring experience! She came over beforehand to meet our dog and ask questions. Once we were gone, she had great communication, sent pictures of our dog, and left a note letting us know how the boarding went at our house. We strongly recommend her! Thank you again, Ashley!”

About: I absolutely adore animals. They’ve been an integral part of my life for a long time! I’ve had many overnight jobs taking care of cats and dogs for family friends or neighbors. From changing the litter box regularly to taking the dog on long walks! I’ve dealt with many senior dogs and some puppies. I am currently a student at the junior college but I am willing to work in times to walk or watch your pets. My schedule at the moment is pretty open so contact me for further details! Not only do I take care of animals with their physical needs but also emotional. I’ll make sure your pet is given what it needs when you’re away! All the pets and cuddles (if they enjoy that).
About: Animals have been a cherished part of my life for over 30 years, and I understand that our pets are truly members of the family. Whether they’re playful, affectionate, independent, shy, or a little quirky, I believe every animal deserves patience, kindness, and individualized attention. I have extensive personal experience caring for both dogs and cats and appreciate their unique personalities and needs. From energetic dogs who love attention and companionship to independent cats who prefer affection on their own terms, I enjoy building trust and helping animals feel safe, comfortable, and loved. As a registered nurse, I bring an additional level of responsibility, compassion, and attention to detail to pet care. I’m experienced in following detailed care instructions, maintaining consistent routines, and recognizing subtle changes in behavior or well-being. I understand how especially important this can be for senior pets or animals who need a little extra patience and attention. I also know how much trust it takes to leave your beloved companions in someone else’s care. My goal is to provide the same warmth, respect, and attentiveness I would want for my own pets, while keeping you connected through regular updates, photos, and open communication. Whether your furry family member needs companionship, playtime, reassurance, or simply a calm and caring presence, I would love the opportunity to get to know them! I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to thoughtfully plan pet care around each animal’s individual needs. I enjoy peaceful environments, spending time with animals, and maintaining familiar routines. I believe consistency and companionship make a meaningful difference in helping pets feel comfortable while their families are away. I prefer to discuss each pet’s schedule, personality, and care requirements in advance so I can make sure we’re a wonderful fit. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my priorities. I understand how much trust it takes to welcome someone into your home and entrust them with a beloved family member. As a registered nurse, I’m accustomed to maintaining safe environments, following detailed instructions, and paying close attention to changes that may require additional care or communication. I respect each household’s routines, boundaries, and preferences. I take care to maintain a clean, peaceful environment, secure doors and gates, and follow feeding, medication, and household instructions carefully. I believe in open communication and will provide updates and photos throughout our time together. My goal is for you to return to a happy, comfortable pet and a home that has been treated with care and respect.
“Kyle was awesome to have at my home and stay with our 3 little dogs. Jack Russel Poodle, Bischon Poodle and Havanese. It can be a handful getting them rounded up, taking them for 3 or 4 walks a day, putting them to bed a night. Kyle was a master and showed them the love and attention that they are accustomed to. We tried to provide him 5 star accommodations and he in turn was an immaculate house guest showing great care and respect for our home.”

“Nikki was wonderful! I needed last minute care for my two pups, and she made time to stop by and meet us first. I ended up having to return home a day early for work and Nikki was understanding. She took great care of both the dogs and our home. We’ll definitely book with her again.”

“Sheila was our absolute hero and stepped into care for our lovely little senior dog after a last minute cancellation from another sitter. She was wonderful. She sent daily updates about our pup and took great care of her and our home. I appreciated her open communication and ease and would 100% book with her again.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Hurlbut is $75
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hurlbut
Leila took great care of our high energy dog when we were out of town for a week. We do not travel much so our dog was really struggling with separation anxiety. Leila kept me updated and we developed a plan together. I appreciate her being dependable and flexible given the circumstances.

This was our second time having Melissa watch our two dogs, we've been very pleased with the treatment and attention our animals receive when in her care. We hope that before long our dogs will love her as much as they love us. Will definitely re-book with Melissa in the future.

Laura was absolutely amazing!! She took great care of Bailey and Ahti! She logged all of Bailey’s medications so we could follow it, and was on top of all of her needs. Both of our pets were calm and happy to see us when we got home, telling us they had a wonderful, relaxing, playful time with Laura. We would be more than happy to have Laura watch Bailey and Ahti at our home again!

Micki came right away for the first interview. When it was time to pet it, she even arrived a bit early. Paid close attention to all instructions, and there were a lot. Texted photos while I was gone. When I arrived home, the house and pets were in good order and she even stripped the sheets and put them in the washer! Extra points for that.

Holly is an amazingly caring, responsible, clean sitter. We have two large dogs and she made sure they were both well cared for. She even read to them just like we do at home. She came to our home and stayed for several days. We will definitely be having her back. If you are lucky enough to hire Holly she’s exactly who you want to watch your dog(s)!

Clair has always been a huge help with watching our dogs and taking care of our house! Lots of updates and the dogs really enjoy her. Her communication is great, our dogs always look like they’re having a good time in her photos, and we come home to a tidy house. I definitely recommend Clair for dog and house sitting.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost of House Sitting in Hurlbut is $70 per night as of November 2026. Most bookings cost between $51 and $117 per night. On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets, and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the price shown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.
As of November 2026, there are 915 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hurlbut. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hurlbut walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hurlbut maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hurlbut choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hurlbut. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
