Experienced, compassionate care for your beloved pets Caring for people and their pets is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’ve been caring professionally for clients’ pets for 25 years and have been offering my services through Rover since May 2019. Over the years, I’ve cared for hundreds of furry, finned, scaled, and feathered companions. I’m an End-of-Life Doula for people and pets, and my caregiving work has taught me the importance of being present, observant, patient, and attentive to the details. Animals tend to warm up to me quickly because I genuinely enjoy being with them and take the time to understand their individual personalities, routines, and needs. I have experience with puppies and kittens, adult and senior pets, reactive or unsocialized animals, and pets who are learning and in training. I’m experienced administering oral and topical medications, as well as insulin injections when needed. My pet-care journey began decades ago while working alongside nurses supporting hospice patients and their families. That experience taught me something I still carry with me today: when someone entrusts you with a loved one, the details matter. I offer dog walks, drop-in visits, daytime care, and overnight care in your pet’s home, as well as transportation to and from the veterinarian when needed. I’m especially flexible Fridays through Mondays and happy to work with you to accommodate your pet’s routine. Whether your pet enjoys a neighborhood stroll, playful companionship, or simply having someone nearby in the comfort of home, I meet them where they are. Meet & greets are an important part of my care. I find that meeting you and your pet beforehand helps us get acquainted, gives me a chance to learn your pet’s routines and unique needs, and creates a foundation of trust that benefits the overall experience of care—for both you and your pet. My background also includes work as a Compassion & Grief Support Companion, Reiki Master, and Trauma-Informed Yoga and Meditation Facilitator, bringing a calm and grounded presence to the animals in my care. Above all, I care for your pet the way you care for them. I’ll listen carefully to what you share about their routines, quirks, favorite things, and what helps them feel safe—and I’ll honor those details. While caring for your pet in your home, yard, or on walks, I maintain a safe, calm environment and follow your routines and instructions. Your pet is always my top priority. I’ll keep you updated on how your pet and home are doing with photos, videos, and text updates. I never assume—I ask questions, because you know your pet best. I want to understand their routines, boundaries, preferences, and anything that helps them feel safe and comfortable. My goal is for you to have peace of mind knowing your pet and home are being cared for with the same attention and respect you give them.

Melissa was great with our baby puppy and cat. She was thoughtful and thorough in her updates and questions. She even helped us work through some puppy tummy troubles. Her patience and care was greatly appreciated as this was our first time away from our puppy. She also took great care of the house and made sure the pets and the home were comfortable for all upon our arrival. Excellent help and care!
Melissa was great with our cat Olive, including administering her asthma puffer twice a day. Lots of pictures to let us know that Olive was well cared for.

Melissa is a star and our cat loved her. Our cat is diabetic and needed insulin shots, which Melissa took care of with ease. She sends lovely updates and keeps a keen eye on your fur babies, even if it’s a quick drop-in session. We were hoping to find a regular pet-sitter and are so glad we found Melissa!
Melissa was fantastic! She was kind enough to come for a meet and greet so that we get comfortable before her first visit. During her visits, she sent lots of photos and great info, and it was clear our cat felt comfortable and happy with her. She was communicative, professional, and kind. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Schedule
My schedule is generally most flexible Fridays through Mondays, allowing me to provide attentive, dependable care for walks, drop-in visits, daytime care, and overnight stays.
