“Ashleigh took great care of my 3-year old greyhound mix and my 18-year old house cat, while I took the my kids on a 5-day camping trip. Ashleigh left a sweet note behind as well. I’ll definitely book Ashleigh for pet care in the future.”

“William has provided wonderful care for my dog Finn. He arrives right on time for drop-ins, shares photos and updates, and shows Finn lots of love. Would definitely recommend!”

“Berenice was amazing with my pup! It was the first time since we’d moved that she was alone for extended time. Berenice came over, walked her then gave her lots of belly rubs. And sent me lots of pics of my nice and calm pup. Hurray. Would book again 💯”

“Excellent! I really appreciated Holly's concern for Gray and extra search efforts in getting my wayward cat back into the house, after I foolishly let her out before my trip. Holly became good friends with Gray, gave her lots of affection and noticed issues with Gray's cat food which I had not. Holly also offered to evacuate Gray if needed during the recent Sonoma County fires. I recommend Holly to anyone who wants a caring and conscientious pet sitter. She did a wonderful job :-)”

“Michelle is very reliable and communicative throughout her visits. Most importantly though, she is outstanding with my super shy senior Chihuahua. I highly recommend Michelle as she expertly gained the trust of my little chi making pet sitting more accessible and worry free.”

“Melissa was thoughtful and created a bond to our dog right away! She was incredibly communicative, sending us many updates and photos while we away -- she let us know how he was doing, sleeping, eating, etc. Melissa has amazing intuition with animals and spent a lot of time with Donovan on his level, be it playing, pets or just sitting together. Highly recommend!”

About: I have five years of experience providing dependable house and pet sitting for multiple families, including stays of up to three weeks at a time. I understand how important it is to know that both your pets and your home are in good hands while you’re away. I’ve cared for cats, dogs, and even a ferret! I provide loving, attentive care to every furry friend, while also taking care of household needs like watering plants, collecting mail, and keeping an eye on the home. My goal is to help pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while giving their families peace of mind. After a career as an engineer and geologist with the State of California, I’m happily retired and enjoying a flexible schedule. When I’m not fan-girling over rocks or spending time at the bowling alley, I’m probably fan-girling over someone’s furry friend! Retirement gives me plenty of time to provide attentive pet care, and I can accommodate most schedules, including daytime visits, evenings, weekends, and overnight stays. My goal is for your pets to feel safe, loved, and comfortable in your absence. I’ll treat them with the same patience, kindness, and care I would want for my own pets.
“Michael was fantastic. He gave us regular updates and went above and beyond with providing care to our cats. We would love to work with him again in the future.”

“Amanda definitely has a way with animals; she can even win the heart of our younger cat who tends to be more shy. She is an awesome communicator and provides timely updates and lots of photos, which make us feel comfortable when we are away.”

“Gina took amazing care of our fur baby! She was super communicative, friendly, and took amazing pictures while we were away. Our shy kitty loved her immediately! Definitely will ask her to pet sit for us again. 💛”

About: I have taken care of my neighbors dogs by walking them around the neighborhood since I was little. I have dog sat my neighbors dog as well in their house and received positive reviews. I have owned two cats and they lived very long and happy lives. I have taken care of horses as well as a part of my riding lessons when I was younger. I love to take care of all animals especially dogs no matter what that entails! I am a Junior in college at University of Hawaii. I am a kinesiology major with the end goal to be a physical therapist. I have always loved animals especially dogs and the joy they bring me. I grew up in Sebastopol with my family. I have always considered myself as a strong, kind, caring and dependable person and i know my friends and family would agree. I have dog sat for my neighbors as well as walk their dogs for several years. Unfortunately I have never been able to own a dog myself but I would love to in the future. I have had multiple fish as well as two cats who were my best friends. I am missing taking care of pets and I would love to take care of yours and make your life a little bit less stressful. I hope that we will be able to meet each other and I hope I can meet your for legged family member! I live in a very safe neighborhood surrounded by very kind people. I am a strong and observant person who will keep a good eye on our surroundings as well as your dog as well. I have a car that I can transport your four legged friend to different hikes if permission is granted. I live near popular hiking spots including Ragle Park Ranch.
“Laura has been a dependable buddy for our two cats while we are away. She is super friendly, easy to communicate with, and very reliable. We are very lucky to have her taking care of of our girls!”

“Bellajean gave us so much peace of mind on our trip. She checked in with me, sent photos and I could tell my animals were happy to be with her and very well taken care of. Now I know next time I have to go somewhere who to use!! I couldn’t be happier.”

About: I have loved animals since I was a little kid, and I grew up surrounded by animals including a cat, two dogs, and a rabbit. As a teen, I was also a junior zookeeper for several years at my local wildlife refuge, helping to care for animals that couldn’t be released into the wild and also educating visitors on the importance of these animals and their natural habitats. For the last 10 years, I have had the pleasure of being the guardian of a sassy little tabby named Moon. I have also had the pleasure to housesit for some other furry friends when their humans were out of town. Currently have a pretty flexible schedule as long as I know a few days in advance what’s up 😊 Which is why I unfortunately can’t take same day bookings. At this time, I am unable to accommodate overnight housesitting requests where a pet cannot be left alone for at least 4 hours at a time. I am committed to making sure that your furry family members are safe and well cared for while they are with me. Please communicate any known issues to me (things your pet likes to chew that they shouldn’t, medications they take, behavior issues, for instance) and in turn I will do my absolute best to keep them safe and report any possible issues immediately.
About: I live all first friends and critters! From caring for young puppies learning potty training to senior kitties with medical needs, I feel comfortable learning the best way to help your loved ones feel safe and comfortable☮️ sometimes a pet wants to run and play and sometimes they want to just share some quiet time from a distance, the best way to care for a pet is to read their body language! I work full time but have lots of time on weekends for pet care! Dog walks are best for me during the week but weekends afford me more time for longer visits. I take safely and security very seriously. It is absolutely imperative to me to follow owners instructions with care and attention to detail. I would never take a risk with a pet and my full attention is on your loved one during the visit.

Amanda went above and beyond by making an extra trip to our house to receive cat food we had delivered to stock our auto cat feeder. She left us sweet notes and photos at every visit and we knew our cat and chickens would be well cared for so we could enjoy our vacation.

Sarah was amazing!! I have two very shy cats and she won them both over with kindness and patience. They both love her!! And I loved her care for the house, great questions and videos that she sent with every visit! I never worried once while on vacation—that’s how good she is!!
Elika was perfect for our Puma! She checked in with me every visit with details of Puma's feeding, water and pee and pooh activity. Elika was responsible, respectful and cautious in our home. We arrived home to our well cared for pet, that was happy to see us! When we need a sitter for Puma, Elika is the sitter for us!! Thanks again for your service, Jill

Mary was efficient, through and reliable in her drop-in visits. She engaged with my shy boys and with the more friendly female. I found the kitchen area clean because she rinsed the cat dishes as they were used. I heartily recommend Mary for sitting with your pets!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hurlbut. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
