Growing up, I owned a Chow Chow, which was a real treat. I even loved giving her baths! She had 2 litters of puppies-sets of 6 & 8, so I got lots of joy from training & playing with puppies until they were adopted. Since then, I have done pet sitting/house sitting/babysitting for various friends & family over the years, and eventually started using Rover in 2021. The most dogs I’ve house-sat with at one time are 3. I am accustomed to following your pet’s individualized routine. I am very much a dog lover. I don’t currently own one due to apartment restrictions, but greatly wish I could. I like to dog sit because I get so much out of it. I truly LOVE DOGS! I am quite familiar with various breeds and their unique traits. Some of the breeds I have cared for are as follows: Akita, American Eskimo, Australian Shepherd, Bernedoodle, Bichon Frise, Border Collie, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chow Chow, English Bulldog, Frenchie, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Greyhound, Golden Retriever, Jack Russell Terrier, Labradoodle, Labrador Retriever, Pug, Newfoundland, Rat Terrier, Rottweiler, Saint Bernard, Sheltie, Toy Poodle, Welsh Corgi. I cared quite often for a dog with congestive heart failure who needed medicine & needed monitored for his breathing & risk for fainting. I’ve also cared for blind dogs and older dogs with dementia. Some of the dogs I’ve watched take medicine or have dietary supplements and restrictions. I’ve never had any pet emergencies while pet-sitting for others, but did have to take my family dog on an emergency run in her final days which resulted in her passing from old age at 16 years. I mention this to say, if an emergency would ever arise while pet sitting- I am familiar with the process to get the dog help. I have MedVet info saved to my phone so you can rest easy knowing I am prepared for any out of the ordinary circumstances any time of day or night. I also like cats & have done cat sitting on a more rare occasion, including homes with a cat and dog, or only cats. I have lived with a cat who was very close to me in recent years so I am familiar with their behaviors and needs. I’ve also administered medication to a cat with FIV although it is a bit tricky. Did a good job of taking care of our cat while we were gone. She got fed twice a day and I didn’t have to think about it. She even did a good job being flexible when a family emergency came up and my parents were not able to watch the dog so she jumped in and helped take care of him by letting him out and making sure you sure he was fed we could get back home. Overall, she did a good job and she asked clarification questions as needed.
As a first time Rover user, I was a bit apprehensive about being away from my kitty for the first time. Dorothy was fantastic! The meet and greet went great and she kept in communication the whole time we were gone. She was prompt about making sure the house was secure. Our cat normally roams outside, but she noticed he was hanging out under cars in the front, which is not normal, and she made sure to get him out from under and back inside. She was very nice and very responsible. We will def book her again.
Liset was excellent! We have never used this app before and had to find a last minute sitter to feed and let out our dogs for a whole week. Liset made it very easy and was great at communicating everything and always responded to our messages immediately. My dogs absolutely loved her and she would send pictures everyday of her walking/playing fetch with the dogs. Highly recommended if you need someone you can trust to watch your dogs.
