“I’ve never left Truffle with anyone but family members. She and I have been inseparable since her original pet mommy (my mother) passed. Needless to say she is extremely spoiled and I was very apprehensive about leaving her with anyone!! But from the first initial meeting with Jenni and her son that doubt started to melt away. And by the second day into my weekend getaway I was totally comfortable with Truffle being in Jenni and her little assistants care. After I shared the many adorable photos, My family members teased that Truffle was enjoying her vacation just as much or more. And my grandchildren were jealous that Truffle had a new found little friend🤣”

“I will 1000% use Meaghan again. She accepted my dog into her home and treated her like she was part of the family. From family outings, to walks, to hanging out with her and her children, my dog was always included. I love that she sends morning updates with pictures. Being able to see that she is calm and comfortable with Meaghan and her family is very reassuring. My dog is very anxious, especially when we go out of town, and tends not to eat when we are gone. Meaghan was consistent and patient with her and finally was able to get her to eat on the 2nd or 3rd day.”

“I can't recommend Karen enough as a dog sitter! She has taken exceptional care of my dog, Django, and I always feel at ease knowing he's in her hands. From the moment I met her, it was clear that she has a genuine love for animals. Karen goes above and beyond, ensuring that Django gets plenty of playtime, exercise, and affection. She provides regular updates and photos, which I truly appreciate. Django always comes home happy and well-cared for after his time with her.”

“Great relief, knowing my dog Barbie was in great hands for two weeks. Latasha would also send updates and pictures which really was really comforting to know Barbie was being well took care of. Would highly recommend Latasha to family and friends.”

“Kimberley was an awesome sitter for our pups. She shows that she truly cares and treated our dogs like her own. Would certainly recommend her to a friend, and hope to book her in the future!”
“We enjoyed seeing our senior dog outside playing with other dogs in Eloise’s care. She has always provided the best care and makes sure his routine is followed. He’s a happy pup when he comes home.”
“Rachel was fantastic! I couldn't have asked for someone better to take care of my pup while a is to go out of town for a few days. She kept me updated with not only pics, but also a quick note on how my furbaby was doing. It was my first time leaving him, so I was very nervous and concerned with how he would be, and by the pics I could tell he was comfortable with her and in very good hands! I week definitely be bringing him back wherever we have small trips or even long days away from home. Cannot express enough how much I appreciate her!!”

“Magda is our favorite Rover sitter. I feel that she treats our little pup as her own. I am always very comfortable leaving my dog with her and not having to worry at all.”

“A true life saver! We attempted to keep our dog at a pet friendly hotel while we went to a concert, but Noodle decided she was going to let the hotel guests know how much she missed us by barking. We thought for sure we'd have to listen to the concert from the parking lot or just not go all together. Kathy responded very quickly, super nice and accommodating . Thank you again!”

“I really want to say Big Thank You for taking care of my dog. This was first time for me to use dog sitter and I wa scared and unsure how this will work. And big Wow!!!! “Once again a great stay for Max and an almost worry free trip for me.. I say almost because I always worry when I'm not with him but that's just me. He is well taken care of and I feel so fortunate to have found someone so caring . As long as they are willing I will continue to use their services.”

“Sharee was a GODSEND!!! An absolute a dream to work with from initial contact to meet & greet, to the drop-off, to pick-up: everything was simple, seamless and SO well in hand. Since our Morty has only been for an overnight stay once without either me/my husband or a family member he’s known a LONG time, my husband and I were concerned about leaving our boy behind while we were on vacation but Sharee put both of us at ease right away. Sharee is warm and friendly with a great vibe. You can tell she knows what she’s doing and is very comfortable and confident working with multiple dogs of varying sizes. Sharee definitely gives off “Alpha” energy, which is especially important because dogs need to know who’s running things in order to feel as well as actually BE safe and secure. She’s got a great back yard with lots of room for pups to run around in and sniff as well as a decent sized area that is still outdoors but parceled off if pups need separation for any reason. This way everyone gets fresh air without having to sacrifice safety. I love this. Morty (who normally is quite bashful when meeting new people) took to Sharee right away: I believe this was because she was so calm, decisive, yet loving and warm with all the other dogs that were there. Once he saw how happy/not stressed out all the other dogs seemed, Morty seemed to fold into the pack pretty seamlessly. Tails were wagging hard and fast all around— it was amazing! One thing I truly appreciated was on the evening when we dropped Morty off, Sharee met us at the car and SHE walked Morty into the house and I followed behind. This set the tone and served as a kind of “changing of the guard” insofar as signaling to Morty that he had to listen to HER from then on out. He got on board without issue (again, safety first: I. LOVE. IT.), and then she introduced him to the other dogs who would be his buddies during his stay (some he’d met during the meet and greet, one he hadn’t… all was well!) While we were away Sharee kept us updated throughout each day on how Morty was adjusting and what good mischief he and the others were getting into with sweet pictures and videos which were always appreciated. We also discovered that Sharee’s dog, King, and Morty are kindred spirits and became fast friends so that was great too! While Morty seemed happy to see us when we came to scoop him up when it was time to go, I’d be lying if I said he didn’t cry for a little bit on the car ride home when he realized King wasn’t coming too! 😂 All told, we could not have asked for a better experience and will MOST DEFINITELY be repeat customers!!! Sharee is AMAZING!!!!!”

“Amy was amazing! I left my cat Dino in her care for over a week, and she was very communicative, kind, and caring for my cat. By the end of his stay, he was even cuddling with her throughout the night because of how comfortable he was. Will definitely book again! 10/10 service would recommend”

“Barbara really helped us out last second! She was super accommodating and helpful every step of the way. Our pup came back happy and exhausted which is hard to do for our guy! Thank you so much!”

Max had an amazing stay, and I couldn’t be happier with the care he received! As a Cane Corso owner, I’m very protective of my dog, so leaving him with someone else made me nervous. From the moment I dropped him off, I could tell he was in good hands. The sitter kept me updated, made sure Max was well cared for, and treated him like family. When I picked him up, he was happy, healthy, and clearly comfortable. That gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend this sitter to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable. Thank you for taking such great care of my big guy—I truly appreciate it!

We had a great experience with Kiana! She kept us updated with photos, and it was clear our dog was well cared for and comfortable during the stay. It gave us peace of mind knowing our pup was in good hands. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

Veronica was an amazing host to my dog. She provided updates and photos daily and was very timely with responses to my questions. When I picked up Test, I could tell he had a great time and was very much relaxed while there. Will definitely come back for the next trip and high recommend Veronica as an awesome doggy host.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
