“Kathy and her family were wonderful! She asked thoughtful questions on how to care for my dog. Kathy kept me updated on how Honey was doing during her stay with texts and pictures. She treated my furbaby like family. Highly recommended!”

“Sheree H. is the BEST!! It was our first time getting a dog sitter for our fur baby MILO and we were nervous initially. However, Sheree put our minds at ease by sending updates throughout the day she even sent video footage. I highly recommend Sheree for your dog boarding needs.”

“Liliana and her family gave me such peace of mind to leave my Whiskey in their care. The initial visit with the family in their beautiful home was so warm and friendly. And while I was away, I was so grateful for the updates and pics throughout each day. Whiskey got attached to one of Liliana’s teenage daughters. So sweet!”

“Five Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are beyond grateful for the incredible care Michelle and her family provided for our senior pup, Boots. She’s 15 years old, has several health issues, and requires a very specific medication routine—including liquid meds and multiple eye drops throughout the day. They were incredibly patient with her, attentive to every detail, and clearly took the time to understand her needs. I had never left Boots with a sitter before, but was at such ease leaving her with Michelle! We received regular updates and felt totally at ease knowing she was in such loving, capable hands. It’s rare to find someone who not only follows instructions but genuinely cares about the comfort and well-being of your pet. Boots came home relaxed and happy, which says it all. We will absolutely be booking with them again and recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for thoughtful, dependable care for their fur baby—especially senior dogs with extra needs. Thank you so much for treating Boots like family!”

“After rescuing our pup not more than 7 months ago, we didn't know what to expect when going out of town. Kate was nothing short of a blessing. With her profound knowledge of animal care, and large area for numerous animals to play and explore, we knew she was the one for our Moose. It was only a short two day trip, but every step of the way, she was eager to let us know how moose was while we were away. We cannot recommend Kate more! Thank you Kate!”

“Kendra was very warm and made me feel very comfortable. She constantly sent pictures and communicated with me throughout the entire time. She assured me that the dogs were doing fine.”

“Our last rodeo with Tanisha & Darrius was great per usual. They’re always so welcoming & attentive, making my fur baby feel so comfortable. We’ll truly miss them as they take some time away to refocus on their family. & looking forward to when they’re back to accepting intakes for boarding again. 💕”

About: I have taken care of animals my whole life. Family and friends have relied on me for decades to take care of their animals. Growing up on a farm helped give me a lifelong affinity for animals. I’m a teacher who is off all summer. I have plenty of time to fill and would love to look after your animals, either in my home, as a drop in, or just a walk. I have a fenced in backyard, two amazing labs who love other dogs, and a wife and daughter who love dogs as much as I do.
“Ericka did such an excellent job watching my nervous, super smart, intense little rescue dog. Within a day she was sending photos of him on his back asking for belly rubs -- something he would only do if he felt safe and trusted the person. I would highly recommend her!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
