“Bella was an AWESOME sitter for the week we were away. She took great care of our two giant breed dogs who have very different needs and even took great care of our chickens and garden. The house was in great shape when we got home and she communicated really well throughout the week with lots of pictures. Would definitely recommend Bella to anyone searching for a sitter!”

“Caitlin was communicative, kind and gentle with our Paco. She had our little guy cuddling all night long, and even reached out for a question he had in regard to his needs that I didn't address earlier. She was flexible in getting to the hotel exactly when I needed her there! We would book her again in a heartbeat! Thank you Caitlin!”

“Ann is absolutely wonderful! We have had some really awful experiences with other sitters in the past, so it's very hard for us to trust anyone with our babies. Ann arrived to the meet and greet with her own notes sheet, was very thorough, and asked great questions to make sure she had all the information she needed to keep their routines as normal as possible. Our boy has some crazy food preparation because of his IBD, and Ann was meticulous in making sure everything was just right for him. He also ended up needing a course of medication right before the stay started, and Ann had no problem with the addition of the twice-daily pill. I received photos and updates without having to ask, which really eased my mind and allowed me to actually enjoy my trip without having to wonder how things were going. Ann is so patient (not just with the babies, but with ME and all my baggage from those previous bad experiences) and very professional. Thank you Ann, for all your kindness and genuine care. I'm looking forward to you staying with our babies again!”

“Olivia was amazing. She was able to take care of our pets on short notice and was able to accommodate a quick meet and greet as well. She shared regular updates and truly went the extra mile in caring for our dog. Fantastic job and I would recommend her to anyone that needs pet care.”

“Eva did a great job taking care of our big dogs. She was able to adapt to both of their quirky personalities and took them on regular walks. It is so nice to know your dogs are well taken care of when you are gone!! It really makes being away so much more comfortable❤️”

“Nina was great. Easy to communicate with. Dogs were happy and well cared for. I'm extremely picky about my dogs and who cares for them and Nina did a great job. She stayed at my house while we attended a wedding I never once worried about the dogs. The cute pictures she sent were an added bonus.”

“Brooke is amazing! We have a reactive dog that needs a few introductions before feeling comfortable with new people. Brooke took extra time with us and our pup to ensure everyone was comfortable for an overnight stay on our wedding day. She has such compassion for animals and I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Jess was amazing! Her friendliness won our dog over right away, and our (very timid) cat wanted attention from her, too! Jess was very good at communicating, asking questions, sending pictures and making sure that our pets were well taken care of. She's a natural with animals which is wonderful because our dog freaked out when our smoke detector started chirping and Jess handled it all like a pro! (And bonus that she left my house super clean!). I highly recommend Jess and will use her again in the future.”

“It’s always nerve wracking having someone watch your dog who has trouble with strangers, but Rachel made it stress free! She was patient and kind, which helped our dog warm up to her quickly. We can’t wait to have Rachel come again!”

“Our first experience with Rover and with Kerstie was wonderful. Having someone come into our home to spend time with Bo and not have to take him to a kennel put our minds at ease while we were on vacation. We could tell Bo enjoyed being home in a familiar setting by the pictures and comments Kerstie shared with us while we were away. I would definitely have Kerstie come back again when we head out of town in the future. Thanks so much Kerstie for the care and the extra things you did for us while we were away. We so appreciate it! :)”

About: We are a retired couple who recently lost our dog. We want to have a gap in owning a dog to be freer to travel, but also want to have them in our lives. Rover seems like a great solution. We have had dogs on and off most of our lives. When I grew up my dad had dogs that were racoon hunters. Laura has had in house dogs most of her adult life. I am a pretty active person, I walk a lot each day and I feel having dogs around is helpful and motivational. We live in a one level, ground floor condo, so there are no steps in our house. I don't work and Laura has a very part-time job at a doggy daycare, so we can be around quite a bit during the day. We are retired couple who are at home a lot. I have over 800 days in a row that I've gotten 10,000+ steps in each and every day, and I would appreciate having your dog help me. We have a very accessible dog-park if you feel your dog can be trusted in that situation. We will currently be pet free and very available. We can crate your dog if necessary. We love dogs and would look forward to caring for yours.

“Danielle did a great job caring for my two dogs! I received updates and she had good communication before and during the time I was out of town. Very flexible and accommodating. I will definitely be hiring her again in the future.”

“Michelle took excellent care of my high-maintenance elderly baby for 3 nights. She followed his routines (directions), treat and feeding habits, his need to go potty a LOT, and kept him calm and happy. She also kept me updated while I was away and sent pictures. I didn't worry while I was gone, and my baby seemed so relaxed when I got home. She also kept my house clean, which I appreciate!! I would highly recommend Michelle!!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Prior Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Prior Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Prior Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
