Jaron was great! We needed some help with our pup at very last minute, on a busy spring break week of all times. Jaron was available quickly, was incredibly attentive to our doggo, and asked some great questions letting us know he really cares about pups. Glad we could have him caring for our dog, we will absolutely rebook with him!

About: My grandfather was a veterinarian for 50 years. I fortunately got to grow up living with them & was able to see animals of all ages, shapes & sizes. I don’t think there was a day where I wasn’t with him at the office “helping” out (scooping poop and cleaning kennels). In my own adult life, i have 4 of my own animals who I treat better than myself 🤣 i love them to pieces and always do my best to ensure their needs are met. You can expect me to do the same for you! My 17 yr old man Tiger has some extra care needs so I am 100% comfortable with doing extra care needs for your animals. I’m a social worker that is able to make her schedule most weeks. I work from home a few days a week and am able to make a flexible schedule. You can trust me to provide for your animals as I provide for my own. I work for the State of Iowa & have passed a background check with no concern.

Nejra was great at communicating with us and very patient with our cat with social anxiety, and even spent 45 minutes with her the Saturday before our trip and was also patient with my 4-year-old human child who chose that time to be a chaotic preschooler. She took lots of photos during our trip and provided a detailed Rover card after each drop-in. Our extroverted kitty absolutely adored her.

He sent great pictures and went above and beyond for us. Would highly recommend using Austin to watch your pets when out of town!

While we debated having someone come check in on the cats while we were going for two nights, we are glad we had Sara come. We ended up having a water leak with water dripping through the ceiling. Sara let us know about this and put towels and bowls under the drips to lessen the damage from the water. Thank you, Sara! :)

About: I worked at a pet boarding facility for 3 years prior to my current position. I learned valuable skills such as learning behavior, correcting behavior, and how to communicate social cues to pet parents. I'm hoping to find clients that needs someone during unconventional times as I work a full time position. Please let me know what times you're looking for and we'll see if I can be a fit for you and your pet! As I mentioned earlier, I treat my dog like my own child. I consider the facts that she can't speak for herself or vocalize her concerns, pains, etc. I know that when I have someone watching my pet, I want to ensure that they can read her cues and handle a emergent situation. I'm prepared to be that person you pet finds comfort in when you're away.

Aubrie was great with our kitties while we were gone. She met them first, which gave us an idea how she interacted with them and gave us a chance to show her where supplies were. She was great about sharing 3 to 4 pictures every visit of them playing, eating, and just being cute. She made sure to send a good note each visit with the Rover Card and pictures. We would definitely use Aubrie again to take care of our cats when we leave town!!

Alysha was amazing with Sadie! Sadie usually is a little uneasy with new caregivers and won’t eat her food or is a little shy. Sadie was very comfortable with Alysha and never missed a meal. Alysha sent great updates with every visit, so we could see pics of Sadie and know how she was doing. We would recommend using Alysha’s services, and will be having her care for Sadie more in the future!

I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and am happy to follow training routines, feeding schedules, and any special care instructions you provide. Whether caring for a playful puppy, a senior pet, or a shy animal, I focus on creating a safe, comfortable environment where pets feel loved and cared for. I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and will keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away if wanted! ☺️ Pet care fits well into my weekly routine. I work in an office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. most weekdays, so I’m available before and after work, on evenings, weekends, and many holidays. On days I work from home or have flexibility in my schedule, I can often accommodate additional visits as well. I have a securely fenced backyard where dogs can play, explore, and get plenty of exercise under my supervision. I also have a friendly, well-socialized dog who enjoys the company of other dogs, but I’ll always introduce pets gradually and make sure everyone is comfortable. Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Polk City stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Polk City. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
