“Meg took wonderful care of our doggies this weekend! She sent us photos, videos and text message updates of our pups. When we arrived home the dogs were relaxed and happy and our house was neat and tidy. Thanks Meg!”

“We rebooked Sam to watch our senior frenchie Tiffany while we went out of town for a week. Sam was amazing! They reached out with any questions and sent lots of updates and pictures. We just got home and Tiffany is chill as a cucumber, no stress at all. Sam was wonderful giving Tiffany her meds (there are so many) on schedule and without any issue. We were able to relax and enjoy our trip because Sam was here taking the best care of our Tiffany. Sam is also very friendly and chats with us in the app and in person so this whole situation is even more comfortable because we have a super cool person dog sitting, someone we would want to hang out with and who is competent, funny, and so caring. I cannot recommend Sam enough!”

“Lexi has stayed with our dog twice now for week long vacations. She does a great job at communicating with updates. She also went above and beyond to treat our pup to her own special vacation treats like pup cups and walks in various different places. We will definitely book with her again!”

“She was great and also played with the big wild dogs and kitty besides just the feeding etc Kept me updated…with pictures Daily and would respond anytime! Will def have her first on my list for sitters in the future!”

“Kennedy took great care of our dogs and our home while we were away for the weekend. We felt comfortable knowing our dogs were in good hands and would definitely book with her again in the future!”

“Elliana did a great job with our 5 month old golden. She was very responsive and sent pics throughout her stay with him. I was so worried about how he’d do his first time away from us and was quickly at ease once I saw all the cuddle pics. Will definitely book with Elliana again!”

“We really appreciate everything that Allison does for our Louie! She’s very punctual and arrives when she says she will and she does a wonderful job of staying in contact with us and filing us in on how things are going. We really appreciate the photos she sends us as well. She brings her own bedding and food and always leaves our home in great shape. We are always confident that our doggie will receive kind and loving care. We highly recommend Allison! 5 Stars!!”

“Nancy was amazing!!!! She sent us pictures every day. Took them for walks and gave their meds. Our old ladies are a lot and she never once complained. We would definitely use her again!!!!”

“This is the 3rd time we book Angie and she has been so great every single time. We have 3 pups and one of them was just diagnosed with diabetes and Angie did so good giving Zoey her insulin shot. We will definitely book with her for future travel. 😃”

“Traci is so amazing! Our pets loved her so much. She is very attentive and detailed which i really appreciate. She stayed with our pets for 7 days and everything went very smooth. She is very kind and easy to work with. Highly recommend.”

“Mackenzie and Anthony were great! We got lots of photos and videos of the pups having a blast and we returned home to three very tired and happy pups! Thanks, again!”

“Kendra was amazing!! She came over to our home prior to house/dog sitting to meet our babies. She kept us updated while we were away with how the dogs were doing. She also sent pictures. I would highly recommend her to watch your fur babies!”

About: I am an animal lover. I have a labradoodle. I am patient and very good with pets. I would love to meet and interact with your pet! I am available weekends. I work monday through friday, although sometimes i may be available. I am pretty flexible just let me know what you need. I have a fenced in yard with a beautiful prairie behind it as well as a path that my dog loves. We keep doors shut to keep dogs out of areas they don’t need to be in.
“Jessica was great! We were out of town 4 nights, and then our flight got delayed and she was able to adjust her schedule to stay a 5th night to take care of our dog. She sent photos and updates at least twice a day and I felt better knowing I had someone here at our house to care for our dog (instead of boarding him). Our dog has some anxiety and allergy issues and she took care of all his meds and gave him lots of love and cuddles. She also washed all the bedding, towels and took the trash out (which she didn't need to do but did it anyhow). Highly recommend! Thanks again, Jessica.”

“Jen and her daughter were so so great. She completely removed the guilt I had for leaving my two dogs. I have two vizslas and they have a very very high ‘affection needs’. every picture jen sent me was of 2 blissfully happy girls.”

About: I have taken care of mostly dogs and cats, but i am not afraid to care for all others! I myself have dogs and ferrets all my life, so I am familiar with those needs. I am very good at understanding and following any requests or instructions that you might have for any pet, as well as sending updates in photo/videos while you are out of town. I am more than willing to do meet and greet for those who have a harder time trusting strangers to watch their fur babies! (I completely understand this feeling!!) Both you and your baby deserve to have that trust and reliability. I am currently working as part-time LMT, so my schedule can be flexible, leaving me with spare time to take care of your pets! Play time, walks, potty breaks, whatever might be needed I can assist with! Every pet has different needs and I can customize my schedule to fit.
“Yasmin was very diligent about sending pictures and updates about our cat while we were away. It gave us such peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worrying about our cat. We will definitely be booking her again!”

Meredith took great care of our two older dogs while we were on a five day vacation. She was very good at communicating with us about the dogs and answered any questions within a reasonable time. She kept the house picked up and we came home to two happy dogs. Would highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Polk City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Polk City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Polk City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Polk City. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
