About: Not only have I had pets my whole life, I have cared for other peoples pets as well. I pride myself as being reliable. I consider our pets as family. Each have personalities, emotions, and specifics needs like every member of our family do. This is how I approach caring for pets. I am an active person so would love to take your pet on adventures. I am a full time graduate engineer student at University of Nevada, Reno. I have classes I have to attend Monday - Thursday for approximate 4-6hrs. When I am not on campus I would love having a furry study buddy to hang out with or stretch my legs with on an adventure. At the moment I can not accept caring for pets at my home, although I more than happy to take your pet on a hike, walk or care for them in your home.
“Mickenzie was reliable and very communicative during the time she checked in on our 2 cats. She provided lots of pictures after each visit along with updates of her visit. Our cats were very comfortable with her and very happy while we were gone. We hope she will be available to look after our cats in the future!”

“We were visiting Truckee to ski for a weekend and brought our 5 month old puppy! Chloe spent a few hours with her each day and was amazing - she was super communicative, reliable, and friendly. We will definitely contact her next time we are in Tahoe!”

About: I am an experienced dog walker with a background in SPCA volunteering, wildlife rescue work, and in-home pet sitting. I have lifelong experience with dogs and focus on providing safe, reliable, and attentive care. My goal is to make sure each dog is comfortable, exercised, and well cared for during every walk. Pet care fits into my weekly routine on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when I dedicate my time to dog walking and pet care services in the Truckee area. I keep a limited schedule so I can provide reliable, consistent, and focused care for each pet. This allows me to prioritize safety, communication with owners, and quality time with every dog I work with. I focus on providing safe, attentive, and respectful care in each pet’s familiar environment or during walks. I always follow the owner’s instructions closely, maintain routines, and prioritize each animal’s comfort and well-being. With experience in SPCA volunteering, wildlife rescue, and in-home pet sitting, I understand how important consistency, patience, and observation are. I make sure pets are always secure, supervised, and treated with calm, reliable handling.
“Malea was literally the best! From her communication- punctual arrival - and extra love for our new puppy. So many wonderful pictures and I absolutely trust her to come take care of our girl anytime. We got so lucky having Malea and will def use her again! She's the best!”

“Mariah is awesome! She recently agreed to watch our fur baby with very short notice and did an amazing job. Also, our request was submitted outside of normal business hours but, she respond rapidly and with a very pleasant attitude.”

About: I have taken care of a variety of dogs and cats. I have experience dog walking, dog and cat sitting. I really enjoy bring people's pets outside for exercise and spending time with them at their home. I currently work full time in Reno so I have availability between 3:00 and 5:00 PM M-F but this can change upon specific request. I am available for over nights M-F as well. I enjoy making your animals feel safe and happy. I have experience walking and running with others' dogs and caring for older dogs who just need to be let out side for a short period of time.

About: I have had animals my whole life, though not professionally, but I have taken care of mine and friends animals now for many years. When friends are out of town or at work all day I will take their dogs on walks/hikes or to the lake for some swimming. I do work a full-time job but my job allows me to get out at a decent time so I enjoy hiking and walks after I get out of work so I wouldn't mind a furry buddy with me as I enjoy the outdoors! I already do it for some friends so I might as well offer it up to anyone that would like their pets to get outside more. I have 2 cats so I can't have a dog in the house, which is why I can only offer my services for dog walking or drop in visits.

About: Hello, my name is Zac. I am an avid animal lover who enjoys looking after and taking care of animals. I have worked as an Assistant Manager attendant at Dr Daves Doggie day care, and a Veterinary Technician for the past 11 years; more recently working at Sierra Pet Clinic for 6yrs. I would like to offer my sitting and walking services to anyone who needs them. Play time and walks are always a must! Being with animals is a passion of mine, and if you would like someone who loves animals, will treat your furry family member as one of their own - I’m your guy. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I m excited to work with you & your furry friend! I am in the midst of a career change from clinic work to field work in ecology, supporting fish hatcheries. Thus my schedule is fairly flexible and I am able to accommodate more clientele at this time. I offer in-house sits at your home, and ensure meet-and-greets are scheduled first to ensure both you and your animal feel comfortable and safe with my care.
“We loved working with Layla. She’s incredibly kind, responsible and invested in making sure our dog was well cared for. We highly recommend her. We had just moved to a new town and she made it easy for us to feel comfortable to do what we needed to do and not worry about a thing while we were away from our pup.”

About: I grew up with a household of pets. After leaving my childhood home I moved to the Tahoe Truckee area and began working for a veterinarian. I studied animal behavior in college and I continued to work in the veterinary profession until my retirement in 2022, for 40 plus years! I have always devoted myself to the best of care for all of my own pets, including hamsters, parakeets, cats, dogs, rats, and chickens, and to the pets of friends and family including horses. I am very tuned into their health and medical needs as well as their everyday fun and attention needs. I love to walk and am very safety conscious. I am free to offer services many days. Now that I am newly retired I do spend some time traveling away from home or with other part time activities but, in general, my schedule is very flexible. As I currently have a senior cat who is afraid of dogs, I prefer most of my services be in your home or walking your dogs. However, some cat loving, mellow dogs might be possible for short periods in my home as needed. I do not have a fenced yard so outside time in my home would be leash walking time, dependent on the needs of your dog, for safety.
“I’m so thankful for Caitlyn! Due to an accident I had a last minute request. I felt so much better knowing that she was going to be caring for my animals and it helped take some of the stress off of what I was dealing with. Caitlyn took great care of them and I hope to book with her again .”

About: I have experience working at a doggy day-care. I was responsible for watching and entertaining up to 25 dogs at a time of all ages and sizes! I work 10 hour shifts 4 days a week Tues-Fri. I am not home for pick ups/drop-offs between 7:15 AM-6:30 PM on those days. However my 3-day weekend gives me plenty of time to give your pup the love and attention they deserve! I hope to find some canine friends to hike with me on the weekends. I can cater to whatever your dog needs as I have plenty of experience working with different breeds, sizes, and ages. Just let me know and I will provide.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Polaris. On Rover:

- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
