I wish I could give Julia 100 stars! She took amazing care of Penny and our home. She is neat, thoughtful and treated our home and Penny as her own. She took adorable pics of her and sent daily updates. She also noticed a town water shutoff and alerted us right away. We were able to truly enjoy our vacation knowing everything safe at home.

About: Hi, I’m Miru. Dogs genuinely make my day :) I have 10+ years of experience in dog walking, house sitting, and drop in visits. Here to give your pup the care and attention they deserve. I currently share my home with a 14 y.o. Maltese, so I have a soft spot for seniors and know how to care for dogs at every life stage. My clients describe me as reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy, and I take pride in always showing up as scheduled. I’d love to meet your pup and answer any questions you have. Their happiness is the whole point! I’m a recent graduate from Virginia Tech’s agricultural & applied economics masters program. I have full availability to care for your pet(s), including holidays and weekends. Safety is of utmost importance to me. I understand that each pet has unique needs and preferences. If necessary, I am experienced in crate training and can provide a secure and comfortable space for your dog if you prefer them to be crated while I am caring for them. I am diligent in following any specific safety instructions or guidelines you provide to ensure your pet's safety at all times. Trust is the foundation of a successful pet caretaker-client relationship. I recognize the trust you place in me by allowing me access to your home and entrusting me with the care of your furry family member. I take this responsibility seriously and will always respect your home, privacy, and belongings. You can trust that I will provide the highest level of care and attention to your pet, just as if they were my own. Creating a comfortable environment for your pet is crucial for their well-being. I understand that some pets have specific preferences or routines, and I am committed to maintaining those while you're away. If you request that your dog be kept off furniture, I will ensure they adhere to that rule. I will follow any specific instructions you provide regarding feeding, playtime, or any other routines your pet requires. By maintaining a familiar and comfortable environment, I aim to reduce any stress or anxiety your pet may experience in your absence. In addition to safety, trust, and comfort, I also pay close attention to the overall environment in your home. I am mindful of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards during my stay. I will clean up after your pet, dispose of waste properly, and keep their living area tidy. I believe that a clean and organized space contributes to your pet's well-being and helps create a positive atmosphere for them. Your pet's happiness and contentment are my top priorities. By focusing on safety, building trust, and creating a comfortable environment, I strive to provide the best possible care for your furry friend. You can rest assured that I will go above and beyond to ensure their well-being while you are away. If you have any specific requests or concerns regarding safety, trust, or creating a comfortable environment for your pet, please feel free to discuss them with me. I felt comfortable with Yvette right from the start. She is personable and knowledgeable about dogs and my pet Dallas liked her immediately. I had her stay overnight for a week while on vacation. Yvette sent me daily updates and pictures, and even watered my plants. My mother lives downstairs and hit it off with Yvette as well altogether. I am happy to recommend her and will definitely be using when I travel next year.

About: I have taken care of two golden retrievers of my own. I have experience working with puppies as well as larger sized dogs. I love playing with dogs and making sure their needs are met. I’m currently working at a school and will have more availability this summer to take additional clients. I am available in the afternoon and evenings. I thrive off of detailed explanation from pet parents on how to make their fur babies more comfortable while their parents are away. I make sure to leave everything clean and tidy after my service is complete.

About: I’ve lived with dogs and cats since I was a kid, multiple times my family and I have taken care of other people’s animals, including dog sitting and dog walking, along with cat sitting for months on end. I’m currently not working, and the only dates I cannot do this summer is July 1-5, and August 1-9. Other than that, it works into my schedule perfectly I take my dogs on walks and train them, I make sure they’re always fed and have clean water, I’m attentive to their needs as best as I can, I make sure to play with them and occasionally groom them if needed (not a professional), and I do the same with my cats along with cleaning their litter boxes regularly

About: I've been taking care of dogs since I was 10 when I got my dog. I joined Rover 3 years ago and have experience walking, feeding, playing with, and caring for various types of dogs. I care for every dog as if they're my own! I just got home from college and am looking to make some money as I take a remote class this summer. That being said, my schedule is pretty open and flexible! I am very respectful of other's spaces and make sure to follow instructions carefully. I pay attention to detail and am a high energy individual. I truly love dogs so much and am happy to help take care of them when owners' lives get busy.

He has a deep understanding of cat psychology, and he spent a ton of time interacting with our cats. We really appreciate him going above and beyond and will be booking him again!

Dawn and her son Adam were professional and fabulous from our very first communication with them about house- and dog-sitting for us. Adam and Finn took to each other immediately, we felt entirely comfortable leaving Finn in Adam’s capable hands, and it was obvious to us upon our return that Adam had taken immaculate care of both Finn and our home for the week we were away. We look forward to having Adam come back to stay with Finn soon. Thank you both so much!

FAQs for House Sitting - Piermont

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 18,343 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Piermont. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Piermont walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Piermont maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Piermont choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Piermont. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
