About: I’ve loved and cared for animals my whole life. Friends, family, and peers trust me to take care of their pets while they’re away. I made sure that they returned home better than ever like they went on a vacation too! I have experience with high-energy pups to senior dogs and can adapt to their personality and pace. About: I've been walking dogs and visiting and sitting with them in owners' homes for Rover for about eight months. During this time, I've had many highly-satisfied customers, both recurring and one-time. I have cared for a wide range of dogs -- both the large and tough ones, like a massive greyhound, an uncharacteristically aggressive male lab, and a German shepherd/Husky cross -- and the small and vulnerable ones -- a 20-year-old miniature requiring loving TLC, and a fragile Bichon Frise. Prior to Rover, I've taken care of two family dogs who became family members, one of which I rescued from a neglectful owner. I was a hands-on dad to my son (now grown), got him the care he needed to survive and thrive as a preemie, and as a single parent knew well how to feed and change him and care for him when he was sick. As a senior, I have the experience and "seasoning" to know what's important, whether it's an infant or child or a family dog or a person with a disability or a senior like myself. So I know how to see to it that the one in my care is well cared for, happy, and loved. Since the condo development where my wife and I live doesn't allow dogs, I take special pleasure in spending time with them at every opportunity. I come from a long line of dog lovers on my dad's side, and I proudly carry on that tradition. I keep as active as the vicissitudes of age allow -- I currently am able to hike, swim and play pickleball, and have returned to 5K runs, tennis and kayaking. That fitness enables me to have what it takes to care for dogs of all ages and stages. I'm a retiree who does part-time volunteer work, both hands-on with elementary-school-aged children and legislative and policy advocacy on behalf of folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My other major activities are staying in shape and learning a foreign language. These part-time gigs, and the fact that my wife works part-time, leave me enough time to do some pet care. I cannot care for pets in my home, or for that matter have a dog, because the condo development where I live does not permit dogs. I care for dogs in their owner's homes, following their owners' lead, so to speak, and according to their owners' directives. Fortunately, this means that the dogs I care for, who know their way around their own turf, do not need to adjust to new environs. As a guest myself, I am naturally inclined to treat the home where I find myself with extra care and respect, more so than I would my own home.
About: My first ever working experience was walking a friend of my family’s dog when I was 13. I also have a pitbull named Brandy who is not the best behaved, so I feel like I can handle walking most dogs. I also grew up with a cat so I have experience with cats too. I am currently enrolled in university, so during weekdays I can only do pet care after my classes which is usually in the afternoon. On weekends however I am pretty available and open to overnight sitting. I will walk, feed, and play with pets based on owner’s instructions and make sure they’re okay throughout my time with them.
