About: I have had experience with dogs for 18 years, ever since my parents got a dog for us when I was 8 years old and I had to help train it and care for it. Ever since, my family has had more dogs i’ve helped train and care for, and I have had roommates and friends with dogs that I’ve helped train and care for (including puppies, service dogs, and dogs who are elderly/ill). I am a consistent cat caretaker ever since I turned 19, when I got my first cat (7 years ago). Ever since, I have felt drawn to care for kitties and have fostered many kittens and cats since, in addition to caring for my own 2. I owned a ball python for a year or two, and my father has for six years. My sister also owned a leopard gecko for five years. I also cared for multiple guinea pigs to help out a friend for a long time. I’ve also had friends and family that have had birds that I have helped care for in the past, however, I have less experience with them. In conclusion, no matter the type, breed, size, age or health of your pet, it is important to me to make our companions/partners in life feel loved and cared for, and I would be honored to be a part of that! It is a large portion of my daily routine as is, and I would love for it to be an even larger part, especially if this could help provide means to live for my pets and I (finances) because due to certain conditions I am unable to work a normal job. I would care for your pets with kindness, love and patience. If you have any questions or concerns I would love to discuss them and I’m sure we could figure something out!
“Hannah was amazing with our fur babies!!!! We have a special needs pup (and 2 cats) and she took extra time to make sure our pup was comfortable and his needs were met. We were very anxious leaving him for a week long trip when we've never been away that long, and Hannah put him and us at ease with her care and professionalism. Highly highly recommend :)”

“Melissa was absolutely amazing and a life saver on a last minute request when and emergency came up. She was patient and sweet with Tucker who I know can be anxious and shy. An amazing pet sitter and will be using again in the future! Thank you Melissa!!”

“If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This was my first Rover experience and I couldn’t be happier using Kristen! She gave thorough updates each visit and provided many pictures. She was more than accommodating with the weird schedule we had. I highly recommend Kristen and she even gave extra love to the additional indoor and outdoor animals (she was only responsible for one dog!). I am so glad to know we have someone to check on Rosie and the other animals during future travels. Thank you Kristen!!! 🫶🏽”

“Erica was wonderful. She came to check Mikey, walk with him, and play him for five days. I can tell when I returned home he was happy and well cared for. Thank you so much Erica. I could not have done what I did this week without your help.”

About: I’ve been working with dogs for 6 years, but they’ve been my biggest passion since I was little. I have a certification in dog training, have taken a first aid class, and have experience with all kinds of pups! Dogs are my full-time job, which means your pup gets all of my time and attention! My day revolves around the care of my furr-ends! I have a fenced in yard, as well as a small turfed section that is double fenced for extra safety. I have a room in my home dedicated to the care of my clients! I have large comfy kennel spaces for each of my guests but if your pup happens to be social and non-destructive I would allow them to free-roam!
About: We’ve taken care of our friends dogs and have a little guy of our own (Shih tzu). He is a wonderful and loving little guy. One of us works remote permanently, we are able to take them outside as much as they need and they will be attended to at all times. At least one of us will always be home. We have a fenced yard and a little guy of our own who’s 2 years old now. He loves to go for walks and play and he loves other dogs.
About: I have been raised with a pet by side. When I have born we had two brittany spaniels that have since passed on. In 8th grade, after they passed, we adopted another puppy brittany. A year later, we adopted another, to have our current pair of brittanys. So I have experience raising puppies as well. I play with them outdoors and indoors, brush them, clean up their poop, bath them, feed them, and train them. They also get taken on walks at the local forest preserve for stimulation. I have experience in caring for fish and snakes. Between dogs, I had my cat to keep me company. She is solely my cat, so she got the same attention as the dogs, plus I bought her toys, treats, litter, and food. Outside of my dogs I have pet sit goldens labs, goldendoodles, springer spaniels, and many other breeds. As in my headline, I don't think any animal is low maintenance. That just means the pet isn't getting the care it deserves. I had my cat at my dorm first semester, and I fed her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I made sure to play with twice a day and we played birds on the tv for stimulation as well. I had a weekly schedule to brush her twice a week, and clean the litter box every Sunday and Wednesday. At home I would alternate playing with my dogs, training, and brushing them whenever possible. I can play indoors and outdoors. I can take the animal for walks. Clean up any potential messes, such as muddy dogs or if a cat has a hairball. I can accompany senior pets that need help eating. I can brush the animal. And feed them, and do basic training.
About: I’m a 19 year old student at UNC Charlotte and have grown up with dogs my entire life, so caring for animals comes very naturally to me. I’ve also dog and cat sat many times for friends, family, and others, including feeding, walking, playing, and overnight care. I’m comfortable with pets of different sizes and personalities, and I always make sure to follow routines closely so pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I’m available for check-ins, feedings, walks, and overnight stays with pets. I’m also flexible with my schedule and can adjust to meet a pet’s specific routine, whether that means multiple visits a day or staying longer to make sure they’re comfortable and cared for. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I always follow their specific instructions closely to keep their pet’s routine as consistent as possible. I make sure pets are fed on time, have fresh water, get plenty of attention, and any other care they need like walks, playtime, or litter box cleaning. I’m respectful of my clients’ homes and keep everything clean and organized. I also like to provide updates and photos so owners feel comfortable knowing their pet is happy and well cared for while they’re away.
“Tania was so helpful to us. She instantly bonded with our Freya. She provided some pets, a chance for a quick walk, and a bathroom opportunity while we were working. We will be so happy for her to help again in the future.”

About: I’ve taken care of my 3 cats, 1 dog, and 3 snakes for a while now. I always make sure to make time for them, and show them love no matter what type of animal. I work part time at a retirement home in Matthews, NC. I’ve worked there for over a year now, but I always make time for my pets no matter what. I keep all of my animals safe at all times. No open doors, no dangerous foods, and especially no sharp objects around them. When they’re safe, i’m happy.

About: I grew up in a household caring for pets of every kind; cats, dogs, birds! Fish! I currently have a puppy of my own and pet-sit often for friends and family as well! I’m working part time, typically no more than three days a week, and taking online classes this summer for college. My availability is mostly during the week, and occasionally Saturdays, starting at early mornings after I care for my own dog Making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in the absence of their primary caregiver is my top priority. Having a dog who’s wary of strangers, I understand and am completely committed to doing what I was hired to do and making sure pets get the care they deserve no matter the level of introversion or anxiety.

About: With 17 years of dedicated experience in dog care, I am the proud owner of three canine companions – one over 14 years old and two between 1-2 years old. Specializing in comprehensive care for senior dogs, I prioritize their well-being, and I am equally adept at managing the exuberance of high-energy dogs. Ensuring a hygienic and comfortable environment is a commitment I extend to all dogs in my care, with particular attention to the unique needs of senior dogs, including accidents, diaper changes, and puppy pad adjustments. My comfort level extends to administering medications, accommodating special diets, handling leash-pulling, and caring for larger breeds. I possess valuable knowledge in addressing the specific requirements of elderly dogs, demonstrating proficiency in managing issues like accidents, diaper usage, and the regular changing of puppy pads. I derive immense joy from engaging dogs in activities that balance their mood and energy levels, whether it's long walks, runs, or interactive play. When entrusted with a dog's care, I treat them as if they were my own, prioritizing their comfort, health, and happiness. Confident in my ability to discern any signs of discomfort or distress, I am vigilant as a pet owner and can readily identify when a dog requires assistance. I am fully adaptable and committed to following any special requests or specific needs for the pups under my care. I prioritize clear communication, always ensuring others are aware when encountering another dog. This proactive approach reflects my commitment to the safety and well-being of all dogs involved, fostering an environment where trust and harmony thrive.

“Bonnie is awesome! She is reliable and takes wonderful care of our puppy. She even works with him on training and brought him a new toy for his progress! We are thrilled to have found someone that takes care of our puppy like we would and that we trust in our home.”

“Annie was so great! She checked in every day, she played with our babies and she took great care of them. She even made our kitties toys! When we got home, everything was just as we left it and Annie left us a little note with an update of her stay. It was very appreciated! We highly recommend Annie and hope she will watch our kitties again in the future!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
