About: I’m a 19 year old student at UNC Charlotte and have grown up with dogs my entire life, so caring for animals comes very naturally to me. I’ve also dog and cat sat many times for friends, family, and others, including feeding, walking, playing, and overnight care. I’m comfortable with pets of different sizes and personalities, and I always make sure to follow routines closely so pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I have classes in the mornings until around 12, which leaves me free for the rest of the day and evenings. I’m available for check-ins, feedings, walks, and overnight stays with pets throughout the afternoon and night. I’m also flexible with my schedule and can adjust to meet a pet’s specific routine, whether that means multiple visits a day or staying longer to make sure they’re comfortable and cared for. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I always follow their specific instructions closely to keep their pet’s routine as consistent as possible. I make sure pets are fed on time, have fresh water, get plenty of attention, and any other care they need like walks, playtime, or litter box cleaning. I’m respectful of my clients’ homes and keep everything clean and organized. I also like to provide updates and photos so owners feel comfortable knowing their pet is happy and well cared for while they’re away.
“Taryn was very quick and accommodating with our week-of booking. She made time for a meet and greet prior to the drop in visits and took AMAZING photos. Our dogs & cat loved her too!”

“First time using Rover and Brittany. She did an initial meet and greet and came by one more time before services started since I was a new customer. Brittany communicated daily and sent pictures. One of my cats needed meds and she did all as requested. Would use her again and do recommend.”

About: Since I was 12 years old I have been dog sitting at my home, dog walking, doing visits and assisting with South Charlotte Dog Rescue doing short term fosters. I have worked with dogs of all ages and have good experience with different needs and requirements. I am currently working part time and doing some fun projects. But I still have plenty of time for your pup. I am flexible on times and days just please communicate with me! I will provide safe, reliable dog walks and home visits while making sure your dog is happy and healthy. I will ensure pets have food, water, exercise, and attention, while keeping their environment calm and secure. I treat every pet and home with respect, patience, and care.
“This is the second time that Gina has cared for our cat while we are away. Gina is wonderful...she truly loves cats, is mature and an excellent communicator and photographer (she takes better pictures of G. than I think I ever have!) We will always book Gina as our first choice as she is a treasure!”

“Katherine took care of our cat for the first time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was reliable, communicative, and gave our cat so much love and attention while we were away. It was clear she genuinely cared, and we came home to a happy, well-cared-for kitty. We’re so grateful to have found her and will absolutely be booking with Katherine again. Highly recommend!”

About: I have always had at least one fur baby in our home with experience in taking care of my senior dog to. I will treat your baby like they are one of mine. I currently work full time in Indian Land Monday- Friday weekends off. I would be able to care for your baby before and after work, during lunch and before bed. Weekends I am available all day. I have a fenced yard if a client's needs to bring them to my home. If I was in my clients home I would keep them to their daily routine. Make them always feel safe and loved

About: I’ve cared for fish, birds, cats, and dogs in my own home since I was 10 years old — 24 years of reading animal behavior and knowing what every kind of pet needs at every stage of life. Today I’m a federally-credentialed animal handler (USFWS Import License) maintaining a complex multi-species planted aquarium, and by day I own a licensed home services company in Union County. Married with a young son. Your pet gets a calm, attentive walker who never rushes a visit. I live two minutes from downtown Waxhaw and treat every booking like a neighbor helping a neighbor. My evenings open up at 8pm once my family is settled in, which means I’m available for that last walk before bed, the dinner-time check-in, or the after-work visit your dog can’t get from a daytime sitter. Standard availability: Sunday through Saturday, 8–11pm. Weekend afternoons sometimes open — message me. New clients: 4 hours’ advance notice gets you on my calendar, same-day if I’m free. Drop-in visits happen in your home, so my focus is keeping things exactly as you left them. I re-secure every door and gate, follow your written instructions to the letter, send photo updates during each visit, and keep walks on-leash unless you tell me otherwise. As a licensed business owner who runs crews on customer properties every day, treating someone else’s space with care is second nature. Background-checked through Rover, and happy to do a free meet-and-greet before your first booking.

About: I previously cat/dog and house sat while living in NYC and Los Angeles, and now North/South Carolina. I walked the dogs several times daily, prepared special meals as directed and kept them company. With cats, I made sure their litter boxes were clean and they had their meals and medications. Up until recently, I had threesenior dogs, a chi-weenie and a dachshund. The dachshund had back trouble so I took her to the acupuncturist and chiropractor, she also had chronic UTI so she was on medications. One of my dogs had seizures, so I had special diets and medications for her. I would love to meet you & your pet! I am currently working outside the house - so weekday care might be difficult if you need someone at your home during the day. I can be available evenings and weekends, and depending on the specific case, I could make arrangements during the day. I can walk your pet around your neighborhood. I like to make sure that they have some reflective tapes/leash in case we're out at night.
About: I Love all breeds of dogs and have lots of snuggles to give your fur babies. I pay attention to detail and understand how to care for a pet. Your pet will enjoy a comfortable stay in our home with our family as if they were our own. I do not have cages or crates. They will have use of our shaded and grass covered, fenced in backyard at their leisure and get lots of attention from myself and my kids. We truly enjoy spending time with different breeds. I look forward to going on long nature walks, playing with, and caring for your pets. I have been a pet owner my entire life and enjoy every aspect and being in the company of animals. I can provide outdoor play time, walks, feedings, administer medication and give baths to your fur baby. I can carefully follow any instructions provided whether it be crate traing or snuggling.
About: I have been taking care of my own pets for about 8 years, and I have also helped my family with their pet care responsibilities. I am currently looking for work, so I have morning and afternoon availability to offer pet care and walking services, always with attention, patience, and love. Near where I live, there's a fenced dog park, and at home, I have a balcony where pets can relax, play and enjoy the outdoors.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waxhaw
Yaphet was incredible. Our 12 year old dog Bree is not easy to work with to begin with and we had just moved so she was extra on edge. He handled her well, gave her the dailies she needed + exercise and was great with our cat Tuft as well at the same time. He was communicative, took photos and updated us as needed. Highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
