About: Mine was a dog family. My parents showed Chow Chows and Bichon Frisés at dog shows around the country with me in tow as a junior handler grooming, training, and caring for our dogs. In college, rather than wait tables, I worked as a kennel assistant and then as a veterinarian assistant during post-grad, spending weekends caring for medical boarders, administering meds and keeping lonely, isolated dogs company. I’m a deeply attached and passionate rescue advocate and animal-lover. My pets have all been mostly large, lovable mixed-breed dogs and second-chance stories like Betsey. Professionally, I have 20+ years of experience as a copywriter and creative strategist. Before starting Betsey & Julie Walk Dogs, I spent the past year as a Dog Handler at Pawlins Day Care — under the tutelage of all kinds of dogs. I’m a freelance writer and I work from home. I share this home with Betsey, an incredibly sweet five-year-old Labrador Retriever. I’m available and actively involved in your dog’s enrichment and overall experience. I’m active and attentive. About: I love animals and helping them have the best time they can possibly have without their person at home. I know it can be nerve wracking to be away from your animals so I vow to make their time as enjoyable as it can be. I’ll make sure they feel just as loved and cared for as you would make them feel. I want to bring a fun and safe energy to them so you don’t have to worry. I’m open most of the time. I usually bartend but since it’s the slow season I haven’t had much work. I can fully immerse myself into caring for any animal! I can come over at any time to watch your animals. If they are feeling extra nervous I’d even be okay with staying a bit longer than agreed upon just to make them feel more comfortable. I’ll do whatever I need so they feel safe in my care.

About: I started my animal care experience working for the Audubon Science and Nature center in animal husbandry by caring for native and exotic animals, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians in outreach and environmental education! My husband and I cared for wild, rehabilated, exotic, domestic and farm animals throughout our careers. My husband has worked in a stable and farm and has experience with horses, goats, pigs, chickens ect. Both working part-time and mostly from home we will love your baby whether it's got fur, feathers ,hooves, scales or semiporous skin! ;-) My husband and I have a flexible schedule working part time and seasonally, with most hours I can set for myself and also often I am able to work from home. He and I make sure all animals are paid lots of attention to and cared for throughout the day and checked on at night. I have two residences one where I have my pets and another where there are no pets so we can discuss your pets environmental needs. Your baby can play with my pets or have the place to themselves if that suits their demeanor.

About: I’ve had pets my whole life growing up! I got my first on cat (Katniss) as a freshman in college, and she is now 12 years old and thriving well! I got my first dog (Albus) the next year and he is a 106 pounds black lab who is also doing very well. I am a teacher so I am off from June-July 20 all day, every day. I can show up on short notice and stay for extended periods if needed! My schedule for the next 2 months is extremely flexible, and I’m willing to work with your schedule as well! I have a dog and a cat of my own, so I’m very experienced caring for multiple pets in a home environment. I have a condo in Metairie a block from the levee where I can take a dog on a good walk, and my parents house in mandeville with a fenced yard where pets can safely play and get fresh air. I can easily crate your dog or cat if needed, follow any specific feeding, medication, or routine instructions, and provide plenty of love, attention, and enrichment. Whether the service is at my home or yours, my goal is always to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away.

About: Throughout my life I have pet sat dogs, cats, rats, bunnies, and reptiles such as bearded dragons and currently work at a doggy daycare/vet. Not only do I have experience caring for animals in a home but I also have experience caring for animals at work and feeding and bathing/exercising them. I am a pretty busy gal but I still have time for your pets! I work Sunday through Monday either 8:30-5, 7:30-4 or 7-3:30. Im off on Feidays and Saturdays. I usually can provide services for your animal in the evenings/late afternoons and weekends. I enjoy providing daily exercise and snuggles. I have a fenced front yard, long concrete driveway perfect for running, and a fenced in backyard with a deck for animals that like to be outside but also need to be monitored. About: I used to work in a veterinarian hospital and also have always had pets of my own. Caring for animals has always been something I love. Transporting your animals to and from the island can be very difficult so I am more than happy to make accommodations whether that be in my home or yours. I work on our family farm from 7am to around 2pm. I am fully committed to making my schedule work around your animal’s schedules to provide the best care to them and keep them comfortable. I have a 15 acre farm that our dogs are allowed to free roam, if yours is not, kenneling is an option as well as GPS collars that are able to set perimeters.
