“Caroline was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of Jasper, Max, and Stella and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. On top of that, we came home to a house that was even cleaner than when we left it. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Chloe did a fantastic job taking care of my pups! I loved all the photos and updates. They were happy and my home was as clean as I left it. Thank you, Chloe, Cohiba & Ollie look forward to seeing you soon!”

“Cheryl is so dependable! Muppet is a little nuts but when I come home she's always happy and a little tired! Cheryl is also very tidy and cleans up after herself, which is not necessary but very much appreciated.”

“Ryan was great! My puppy Clyde loved the visit as he got a walk and plenty of attention. Ryan sent photos throughout the day and we were happy with the visit. Will definitely be booking Ryan in the near future. Thanks Ryan!”

“I recently moved to the area with my senior dog and two cats and was in need of a sitter for a short trip. Caitlin had great reviews, and we spoke and met - she has a gentle, calming presence which I liked and sensed would benefit my pets in this new environment. I was right - based on her frequent communication and pictures they took to her right away! All this was great, but I was most impressed and grateful for her attentiveness and concern - the first day of my trip she contacted me regarding an unusual development with my dog - it turned out she had developed a hot spot! The early detection allowed for easy treatment (those things can get nasty quickly) which Caitlin was willing to undertake. I highly recommend Caitlin and will be using her in the future.”
“Macie was so helpful with my dogs while I was out of state! She kept me closely updated regarding my old and chronically ill dog. She administered many meds and even went to the store to grab something for them. She was exactly what we needed for our week long trip, would definitely recommend!”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs since I can remember. I have a dog myself, and she is the friendliest girl, her name is molly. She loves friends. Additionally, I have experience crate and home training dogs. I am accommodating to all dogs. I would love to take care of your dog as if it were my own! I am currently post-grad, and have plenty of time to care for your dog. My services are available all week. I can take your dog on as many walks needed. I live in an apartment complex with plenty of space for them to sniff and play around. I will also provide your dog with designated play time to keep its mind stimulated. Any additional request needed can be accommodated as well! I value communication, so I vow to listen to your dogs and your needs and meet them accordingly! I live in an apartment. I do not have a specific designated yard, but I do have plenty of outdoor space for your dog. I have one dog myself (medium sized), she loves friends and can’t wait to be great company to your dog. I will take care of your dog as if it were my own. You name the need, and I will meet it.
“Olivia was an excellent communicator and she did everything I asked and more. I appreciated all the pictures and notes regarding my pets. The most important thing is I felt my pets liked her and that is incredibly important to me, especially my shy cat. I will for sure book her again!”

“Grady went above and beyond to ensure our pup was well taken care of. His punctual, friendly, thoughtful, and communicative approach provided us with added peace of mind while we were away. Would recommend!”

“Ashley took amazing care of our two dogs. Provided us with so many photos and updates and just went above and beyond. She made us feel completely comfortable that our dogs were in great hands while we were out of town. Couldn’t recommend her enough!”

“Highly recommend Martha! This was my first time leaving my pup with someone I didn’t know, and she put all my worries to bed after the meet and greet. Sent daily pictures and messages, so I knew my dog was having a nice time :) Very attentive to the details I laid out and responsive to any questions or concerns I had throughout the entire experience and left my house just like it was when she arrived. I would book her again and would easily recommend her to anyone else!”

“Abby is a lifesaver! I had an unexpected out of town trip that bumped into another trip for which I had already booked another sitter. Abby came to meet my pets within a few hours of my request and was flexible with my unknown travel plans. She got along great with my dogs and wasn't afraid to take on my almost 17 year old Beagle mix who can be a lot of work. Abby also washed the linens on the bed so everything was ready to go for the next sitter to come in. She made a stressful, last minute trip a whole lot easier and sent plenty of pics of my pouting Yorkie and grandma Beagle.”

“Upon our initial Meet & Greet with Adam, my partner and I immediately felt good about working with them. Adam’s sensitivity, attunement, and ability to relate to animals was present from the moment they were introduced to our cat, Gonzi. Adam spent two weeks house/cat-siting while we were abroad and took care of him with an attentiveness and affection equaling our own. We received regular video and photo updates during our vacation. (Adam is a filmmaker, so the videos were extra special). In the videos Gonzi was purring, and had clearly developed a close bond with Adam, something that is quite unusual for Gonzi. Adam’s messages and videos made clear that they are conscientious and thoughtful about how important such updates are for pet owners. As well as being very prompt in communication, Adam was also flexible. Our flight was late, and they kindly made an extra visit that evening after the stay had officially ended. Upon our return, Gonzi was happy and healthy, and had clearly been very well taken care of. Our home was very clean and tidy as well. Adam was a perfect cat sitter for us. Their Rover profile states, “Loving and Professional Care,” which could not be truer. We will have no hesitation in asking Adam to cat/house-sit for us in the future, and we recommend them enthusiastically to other pet owners.”

“Lily did a wonderful job with my senior, partially deaf, dog, and guinea pig. My dog can be challenging as he can be a bit standoffish, but she got him to warm up. Also, he only gets pain medication when necessary, so it was up to her observation and judgment. My guinea pig requires daily cage cleaning and feeding, in addition to handling my dog's needs.”

“Jessica was great! She was willing to come to our hotel suite to sit with our puppy Sedona while we attended a wedding. She even brought her small dog as a playmate for Sedona. She sent text updates and pictures throughout her stay. This was our first time using Rover and we are beyond pleased with our experience. It was so nice not to have to worry about our pup being alone barking and disturbing other hotel guests!”

“Molly took care of our pups and house over a weekend, and was extra accommodating and flexible when we needed to extend for a few extra days. She kept us up to date with photos and adventures, we highly recommend and would happily have Molly house and dog sit for us again.”

“Amara did an excellent job caring for my senior dog while I was out of town. She was able to give him his medication every day and keep him on his regular schedule. I cannot recommend her enough and will be booking with her for future pet sitting needs.”

About: I am caring, reliable, and patient. Especially with the small pups. I love giving them attention. I love playing with them and making them feel safe, comfortable and loved. Currently, I’m a college student. I can’t do Mondays from 2 to 5 but other than that I can do any day at any time I’d rather stay away from nighttime services for my safety. I have a fenced yard so plenty of room for them to play. I am a retired pup owner, so I would suggest you bring food and toys, but I will take care of them with all love and care and have fun!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 750 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Meraux. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Meraux walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Meraux maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Meraux choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Meraux. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
