About: I’ve had a love for animals for as long as I can remember! My experience caring for pets goes all the way back to childhood, and over the years, I’ve developed a genuine appreciation for the unique personalities and needs of every animal. I believe that building trust is one of the most important parts of caring for a pet. I always take the time to help animals feel comfortable, safe, and loved, whether they’re energetic and playful or a little shy and reserved. I understand that pets are family, and I know how important it is to have someone dependable looking after them while you’re away. My goal is to provide the same level of attention, patience, and affection that I would want for my own pets. As a pilot, I also have volunteer experience with flying shelter animals across the state to reach their new home where they find love and comfort. This experience has helped me learn the best way to keep animals calm through situations that could otherwise be stressful for them. I look forward to meeting your furry family members and making sure they receive the care and companionship they deserve! I currently work full-time in Livermore, with shifts typically running from either 6 AM–2 PM or 10 AM–6 PM. Fortunately, my schedule allows for some flexibility, and I’m happy to coordinate with pet owners to find times that work best for everyone! Depending on my work schedule, I’m available for morning, afternoon, or evening visits, as well as pet care on my days off. I understand that every pet has their own routine, and I’ll always do my best to accommodate their needs while making sure they receive plenty of attention, care, and companionship! Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities! My home offers a fully fenced yard with plenty of space for supervised outdoor playtime and exploration. We also have two small, friendly dogs who enjoy meeting new furry friends! I understand that every animal has a different personality and comfort level, so I always take introductions slowly and make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable. I also respect each pet’s individual needs, whether they love socializing or prefer a quieter environment. When caring for pets in their own homes, I make it a priority to follow their established routines and their owner’s instructions as closely as possible. I believe that consistency, patience, and communication are essential to building trust. I’m also happy to provide regular photo updates so you can feel confident that your furry family member is in good hands!

About: Have always had dogs and cats in the house and couldn’t imagine my life without them. Nice big backyard and plenty of room for activities! I currently work for myself so my schedule is very flexible week to week. Looking to help out another person owner with the added bonus of having a furry friend to have around. Big fenced in yard just under a half acre leaves plenty of room to run around. Access to indoors or outdoors at anytime, whatever makes pet most comfortable

“Highly recommend Gabby. She watched our kitten while we went out of town (our 1st vacation away from our kitty). She came over to meet him prior to our trip, and stayed in close contact throughout our trip (with photo & video updates.) Definitely booking Gabby again next time we are in need of a pet sitter!”

“Nicole watched over my German shepherd for a week and did couple of daily checks-in. She was very good with her communication and follow ups and took great care of Rio - who really enjoyed her company.”

“Garret was really wonderful from the very beginning with an acceptance to show up for taking care of my pets on very unplanned short notice. He was very good with my dog, cat and actually made friends with them by the end of the day! He is kind, communicative, easy to coordinate with and most importantly, he reaches to pets with gentleness that I think is hard to find. Thanks, Garret! I appreciate you! Good luck!”

About: I’m a stay home daughter and a caretaker of my mom :) - My boys have flown the coup! Our home is still always busy with my dog Maya (Australian cattle dog mix) and Chia my mom’s dog ( Chihuahua mix ). We would love to play and visit with your loved one. My cats Mr. Nardwair and Miso will watch from a distance:) My home is very welcoming to all, even those with lots of hair. We have a doggy door to the outside( medium size or small dogs only). So your dog is welcome to the freedoms of coming and going easily from the shady grass of my backyard to the comforts of the couch. After a meet and greet to see if we all get along, I’m sure you will see we are a perfect fit to watch and care for your furry friend! Keri I’m a semi retired Homemaker so I have plenty of time for your furry loved one. I also have other family members who help care for your Pup :) I have a fenced in yard and 2 dogs to keep your family member company and lots of activities in the home to entertain you Pup!

“Sarah took great care of our almost 7 month old GSP puppy Maple during a drop in visit. She has experience with high energy breeds and was totally professional and able to deal with Maple's excited jumping (we're working on it!). She asked all the questions you'd want someone to during the meet and greet, and sent an update and pictures of Maple during the drop in visit.”

“Jennifer was dependable, a great communicator & a pleasure to work with. She gave us updates daily & our cat Luca seemed to really enjoy her visits. We’d love to use Jennifer’s services next time we are out of town & need someone to make daily visits to care for our fur baby. Thanks Jennifer!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for family and friends for as long as I can remember! I love animals and I am comfortable with dogs big or small. I currently work part time so I have extra time to care for pets. Available for mid day, morning, and evening walks as well as house visits. I am a trustworthy, caring, and tidy person. I will care for your pet with whatever instructions you have and keep you updated along the way!
“Fuliang did a great job. I felt my cat Alba was well cared for. I got a nice detailed report on the last day. Could have used a picture of my cat everyday but otherwise I am a very satisfied customer and will use this sitter again for my pet sitting needs.”

About: A Housesitter across North America for several years now, I have built a wealth of experience with a variety of animals and homes . I worked as a dog sitter and walker in NYC for five years, raised my own puppy from 8 weeks old. Then traveled to the West, housesitting my way across the country from VA to CA, OR and CO. I provide daily photo and video updates of your pets and can make framed prints available to order. I have had pets in the home since I was a child, including birds and hamsters as well as cats, kittens and dogs. I am currently looking for summer work, having worked as a Ski Instructor all winter in Arapahoe Basin. When housesitting, it is my principal job and priority. I do not currently offer care for a pet in my home, unless of course, they are happy living and traveling in my Class C motorhome.
“I cannot say enough good things about Angelina. She absolutely went above and beyond for my kitties when my partner and I went out of country for two weeks. She enthusiastically agreed to also watch over our plants and fish and did so beautifully - even when one of the tanks sprung a pipe (fixable but scary I’m sure!) she remained calm and communicative and made sure to stay until all was fixed and calm in the house again. She took amazing care of our cats, sent photos every day, kept us updated, and clearly kept our kitties happy, played with, and fed well!!! 15/10. I will definitely be booking her again next time we go out of town - best experience with a sitter we’ve ever had.”

About: I’ve grown up around animals my whole life and honestly, taking care of them has always been something I love. My family has two Huskies and a Pit Bull Terrier, and I’ve also helped raise litters of Husky puppies, so I’m definitely used to the chaos that comes with having a lot of animals around! I’ve had all kinds of pets growing up, including a Pomeranian we sadly lost, and I’ve had my cat for the past two years who I’m completely obsessed with. I genuinely love animals and love getting to know their different personalities. I know it can be stressful leaving your pets with someone else, so I’ll always make sure they’re safe, comfortable, loved, and getting the attention they need. I’m happy to follow their normal routines and send updates/photos so you know they’re doing well. Your fur baby is in good hands with me! Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
