“Short review: 20/10, Sarah is incredible! Long review: I can’t say enough good things about Sarah! We have a 10 year-old lab and a 5 month old great pyr mix puppy and so having Sarah staying in our home was so wonderful to keep my girls comfortable and together. My Lab got sick several times on my last day of vacation and Sarah kept me updated almost every hour, escalated it and called the vet line to get advice. I was out of the country and so far from home, so having Sarah raise concerns for me and care for my girls like they were her own was incredible. I knew she was in good hands and if there were an emergency, Sarah would’ve gotten my 80+ lb lab to the vet ASAP! Between my little one having accidents and my older one being sick, Sarah not only cleaned up after them every time but also cleaned blankets and towels that got dirty. This was not expected and she went above and beyond. She of course also sent lots of fun updates and cute pics, and also ended the visit with a video detailing the laundry / cleanliness of my house. Thank you so so so much Sarah for your kindness and care of my girls (and home)!!”

“Dannie was beyond exceptional. They made me and my dog feel well taken care of. It was my first time leaving Penny alone for the weekend and she may have had more fun with Dannie than she does with me. Will 💯 book with them again! Thank you Dannie!”

“Amanda was great and worked around my specific requests with timing and all of my dogs personalities. She sent updates and pictures and never delayed in response. My dogs seemed to like her and be comfortable with her so we will be booking for future stays. Thanks so much, Amanda.”
“April was absolutely phenomenal. She did a meet and greet very last minute and when we went to the hospital to have our baby, she was very flexible to make sure our dogs got the around the clock care so that we could focus on our family. The dogs are OBSESSED with April!!! She gave so many wonderful photo and text updates. We can’t wait to have April back so soon!!!!”

“Erin is simply the best. She is an animal lover through and through and a wonderful pet sitter. She treated our home as her own and took exceptional care of our two dogs and two cats. She even let our snoring husky sleep next to her. Erin is wonderful. Would absolutely book again.”

About: I am a clinical social worker for children and young adults! My love for animals came from being raised in an animal loving home. I worked in a private vet right after college and have not only prior knowledge from my own family animals but hands on experience in the fields. About 5 years ago I adopted my cat Athena. Im the type of care giver who will make sure not only are your fur babies are loved and safe but that their owners have the sense of security that their babies are in good hands with frequent updates. I have been working with Rover since I was 18 years old! This was my job as a student that I very much loved! Now that it’s been 10 years in the business this job is a passion of mine that fulfills a purpose and only bring me more joy and happiness. I have a job that is flexible with my hours and allows me to work for my clients for hours that are needed. I book clients that I know I will be able to provide exact care they are expecting and asking for. Animals are like children, you always have to be vigilant. Every animal is different, needing specific care that is geared to them. I make sure my clients get attention, love and care.
“Claire is a wonderful petsitter for our 1.5 year old golden retriever. She’s very personable to work with, considerate in her communications and highly conscientious about our pup’s needs, schedules and preferences. Both our pup and our home were well cared for while we were away.”
“Hailey was great with our dog, who can be a little less than friendly at times. She was also very communicative and accommodating, which we really appreciated. We'd definitely recommend her and rebook: thank you, Hailey!”

“Just incredible service. Lizzie kept me informed and made me feel so safe leaving my little guy with her (who has health issues so that’s saying a lot). Will absolutely work with her again. 5 stars!”

“This is the second time Mollie has sat for Abbey and Bowie at our house, and both times we’ve been able to enjoy our overseas trip knowing that they are well cared for. This time Mollie was even able to stay an extra day when our flight was cancelled - such a relief during a chaotic experience. She also treated our home like her own, brought in our packages, and washed the sheets/dishes. Thank you Mollie!”

“Madelyn was communicative, giving daily updates about River while I was gone. She took her on lots of walks and it seems my dog really got comfortable with her and cuddled a lot. I also came home to a clean house and she was respectful of my space while she was there! I am excited to use Madelyn again in the future.”

“Simone is Loving, Kind and very attentive to our big boy, Okami. She is very respectful of our home and a fantastic communicator with photos and updates of how our pup is doing :) if your looking for someone you can trust, Simone is your gal! Definitely will be working with her again!”

“Kathryn took such great care of our boys and even braved taking them on a walk together! She handled our pups' meds, provided updates, was very thorough with communication, and left the house in great condition. Would absolutely have Kathryn back!”

“Ziggy loved Shelby! She was wondering, very trustworthy and took wonderful care of our 13 week old baby! She sent loads of pictures and updates and did tons of fun stuff with him. Will definitely use her again!”
“Brooke did a wonderful job taking care of my dog and home during a May 2026 trip to the beach. Her communications were outstanding and upon return, I could tell that my puppy had been well cared for. I would give Brooke the highest possible rating , 5 STARS for sure. Mitch G.”

“Erin was great with Rowan! She showed up on time was very communicative and sent pictures! We had a great experience with her watching him and our home. Rowan is still in training and she followed his rules and worked with him to continue his training! We will use again and you will be happy with Erin, she is great with dogs!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Casey was absolutely amazing! She was present the entire time and took such great care of my girls — even when they were being a little bad! She was so kind, patient, and incredibly communicative throughout the whole stay, which gave me total peace of mind. It’s clear she really cares about the dogs she watches. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Madison
Sarah is always reliable and this trip, even though she got extremely sick, she kept us in the loop and received support instead of leaving our very sick cat who needs a house sitter instead of just drop ins. It was very scary to be far away with no backups, but Sarah hung in there and took care of our baby despite how sick she was.

Brittany did outstanding ! We took a 9 day trip and Brittany touched base daily with texts, pictures and she was very sweet to my pups bc coming home they were so happy and well taken care of along with our home. If your looking for a trustworthy, loving , pet sitter whether it’s a trip out of town or just a drop in she very reliable .

Absolutely fabulous. Ali was such a find! She watched my house and corgi puppy for 12 days, and left my house in perfect condition. My neighbors all loved Ali, and my puppy especially was head-over-heels for her, was sad when she was finished. I really couldn’t be happier with Ali and the service she provided, I will definitely use her and Rover again. If you’re looking for someone to house sit/pet sit that you can trust, for longer time frames, then look no further, Ali is the answer.

Maddie was such a great sitter!! We were able to connect before the sit so she could meet the pups. She sent me daily updates and pics and Leo and London look like they had a great time. She was dependable and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend Maddie and I hope I travel soon so i can use her again. ❤️

Alexis has been house sitting my pup for a couple years now and it's always a great experience, she is great with him, communicates, and I always feel confident he (and my house) are well looked after. She brings her dog with her and the two pups always have a great time together, highly recommend her for dog/house sitting needs!

Abbi and her husband were fantastic. Abbi was communicative, responsible, and clearly loves animals. We got updates while we were away, which gave us real peace of mind. Our dog was happy and relaxed when we got home, and the house was spotless. We’re so grateful we found her and would absolutely book her again. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Madison on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,437 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Madison. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Madison walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Madison maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Madison choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Madison. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
