“LeeAnn is such an amazing pet sitter! She's very quick and responsive, and sends the cutest pictures of pets! I'm so thankful she lives in the area <3 Thank you so much, LeeAnn! <3 Mamba and Liv”

“Beverly was an awesome cat sitter for our drop in visits. She cared exactly what we care about with our cats - them staying safe and comfy! She was thorough in locating them and providing photos and updates. We’ll definitely be partnering again!”

“Renee is AWESOME! She met our 3 pups and bonded extremely well with them instantly. While I was trying to decide on who to watch our pups, I messaged her and she was extremely helpful on answering my questions. She met our pups and they took a quick liking to her. All was well in our world. While we were on our trip she would happily answer my texts and sent pictures oh how things were going. We had to sadly come home a day early and she was completely understanding of it and even coached me through how to adjust our reservations. We are extremely thankful to Renee, would recommend her to everyone in the area, and will be requesting her services again in the future.”

“Jenny is very reliable and my kitty, Squirrel loved her. Upon returning from a weekend away, Squirrel was very content and comfortable. Jenny shared lots of photos and updates and went above and beyond what was requested of her.”

About: I've been taking care of animals for my entire life. Outside of having my own fur babies (two cats, and one dog), I have frequently cat/dog sat for friends, family, and neighbors! I have a deep love, and understanding for animals. I am ready to get to know your pets, and learn about their own unique characteristics and needs. I am able to provide feeding, grooming, exercise, quality time and any medical accommodations they may need. I'm currently taking some time off from my regular employment, so I have an abundance of free time to care for and spend quality time with your pets! I will utilize any instructions given, as well as my own intuition when it comes to the safety and well being of your pet. Whether we are at your home or playing at a park, your pet will be in very safe hands. I am also prepared to have active communication with you in regards to your pets, and how they are doing.
“Liz is the best, and our kitty is always in good hands! She always goes beyond the call of duty to ensure our kitty and home are in good hands! Can't recommend her enough.”

“BReN once again was a great sitter for my cat Xochitl while I was away for a week. My cat is very independent and doesn’t cuddle much so BReN must be a cat whisperer because I received frequent pictures of Xochitl hanging out on her lap or next to her! The house was clean upon return and she even brought in a package that arrived while we were out. BReN is thoughtful and caring toward animals and their human guardians.”

About: I have taken care of pets since an early age. We have had surgeries, Iv care and shot and medication experience. I have trained puppies and dogs and shown dogs that have won titles. I currently do pet and people portraits while I’m pet sitting and the dogs are napping. I have an elderly dog and two younger Labradors that live here. I also have vegetable gardens, gardens and lawn I water every 3-4 days. Taking care of cuddlers is my life💕 I have 7 snake wire fenced yards. Two have lawns. One yard with a large patio and dirt and shade and the other areas have sawdust so the dogs won’t burn their feet. I also have three larger areas for winter runs. The fencing is 6’ high except in the large lawn area. It is 4.5’.
About: What sets me apart from other sitters is there is no debate with me when it comes to which is better, cats or dogs. I just love taking care of your fur babies! Plus I have dealt with older animals and understand what comes with handling them. Pet care fits in my routine perfectly! This and college will blend in perfectly in my day to day routine getting me where I need to be! I unfortunately cannot have any dogs or cats in my home, because there already are 4 dogs plus a cat in the home that I take care of. But I am willing to stay and take care of your pets in your home.
“Booked Shawna for a last-minute drop-in visit for my two pups. Really appreciate her professionalism and communication. The meet-and-greet before our scheduled session really put me at ease. Shawna sent out a pup report card and detailed what happened during session with pictures. Our girls were surely in good hands! Thank you Shawna!”

About: I love being with dogs! I have been a dog Mom for 35 years, and I run a nonprofit dog rescue. Through my extensive experience with dogs, I feel I understand the emotions, language and needs of pups. My joy is seeing dogs feel safe and cared for, and watching them thrive! I am good with dogs in all stages of life, especially senior pups. I am home with the dogs! Dog care and being with the dogs is my priority. Your dogs will have loving companionship and attention, to help them feel comfortable, relaxed and nurtured. My home is set up for the comfort of the pups! Dogs are allowed on all furniture and beds, for better snuggling. I have fenced yards made for the pups’ safety and security, and I own 28 surrounding acres of beautiful, pristine desert land, where pups can run, walk and play. There are no roads, traffic or passing cars. Dogs love the freedom of this exquisite area! I call it a Doggy Disneyland!
“Greg was awesome! I left for a week long trip and he was able to do drop in visits for my fur baby so she could stay in the comfort of our own home. He went above and beyond and mentioned brushing her and even bringing his own dog over for play dates which I know my pup appreciated very much! He provided pictures and updates with the temp in our house as it’s been getting hotter. Will definitely use Greg in the future if needed.”

“Katie did a couple of drop ins for my dog and 2 cats. They were all very comfortable with her and she gave them tons of attention! We would definitely recommend her to others and will use her for future trips!”

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Joshua Tree. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
