“We are so grateful for Holly’s diligent and attentive care of our two dogs, one of whom is very elderly. You can tell she cared for our dogs like they were her own and we feel so lucky to have found her. She was communicative, reliable and considerate about our home and systems. We will definitely continue to reach out to her for future care! We highly, highly recommend her for your beloved pups.”

“If you came over per my late request, please send it to me. I was driving all day until four, so I had very little time to talk on the phone. FYI, I saw oil in the driveway. I thought it was mine at first, but I would get yours checked if you can. Your car could be experiencing an oil/ATF leak. Have a great Holiday, and may you get a lot of gifts! I am sure I'll be contacting you soon.”

“Katie was amazing! We were able to do a meet and greet before which helped us feel super comfortable leaving our pups. She maintained great communication and sent several updates throughout the day. If available, we would love to have Katie dog sit again :)”

“Juliann was great! She kept my house in perfect shape and took such thoughtful care of my little rascal of a cat as well as allthe outdoor critters I feed. I came home to a happy pet and everything just as I left it. I felt totally at ease knowing she was here. Highly recommend!”

“Diana provided housesitting for my pets for about a week & it was great! She checked in with me about concerns & sent photos of my cats & dog. It was a good experience & I would book with Diana again! Thank you! 💕🐾😊”

“BReN was such a great sitter! She stayed at our place with Lupe and Flynn, took them in walks, sent regular updates. The dogs LOVED her. Thank you BReN! You’re a total lifesaver.”

About: I have lived all my life in the South Bay. I went to school in Rolling Hills, I went to College in Long Beach. I have worked in the Aerospace industry since the 1980's. In 2012 rescued a Pitbull from a abusive life. So I immersed myself in learning the Dog Whispers' training methods. I have had a dog ever since my third birthday. I have worked with Dachshunds, Schnauzer Terriers, Golden Retrievers, Pitbull's, Poodles, Shih Tzu, and Beagles. I believe all dogs have been given to mankind to show us how to live life. Unconditional love, live in the moment, don't worry and greet everyone with excitement and love. In conclusion, I will always treat you family member as my own and love taking care of them. I am retired so I am very flexible. I currently Walk dogs for elderly people at the Apache Mobile Home park. I am looking to expanding my services outside the park. I have fenced yard and my home is open to the dogs I care for and I have water and treats available. Your pets are welcomed to my couches and dog beds or pet cage.
About: I have so much love and patience for all kinds of animals. I grew up with 8 Saint Bernards. Had birds as well and an Appaloosa horse. I currently live in a home with 4 cats ( one of them is my own baby), 5 birds and a snake. I am comfortable with any type of animal. I am a caregiver through IHSS with Aging and Adult Services. I care for people who need extra help. I am wanting to do farm work as well. Would love to get hands on experience and learn the ways to care for farm animals. Even though I am a caregiver I will make time for your furbaby. What ever it may be I will accommodate your needs. Your baby is and will be in safe hands. I will be caring for them in your home. Whether its a daily check up or overnight. First thing is that I will not let your baby out where they are not allowed to go. I do feeding schedules and also make sure there is time for play and cuddle moments. I also am very comfortable administrating medicine.

“Chantelle took lovely care of our beloved kitty who needed extra kindness having recently been neutered. We spoil our kitty so wanted someone to stay overnights as well and Chantelle did and sent lots of cute pics of our kitty throughout our trip away. Would highly recommend her. She knows lots about cats and how to take great care of them which was comforting while we were away. Will definitely ask her to kitty sit again 🐈⬛ 🥰”

“Noah took care of my large german shepherd for almost 2 weeks while I was traveling abroad. He was very reliable throughout and very capable, educated and confident in the way he handled him. I’d definitely recommend Noah for anyone.”

“Layla was very communicative throughout the entire sit, sending me photos so it felt like I had missed nothing at all! She even agreed to come prior to the actual sit to meet the dogs and learn the layout of the house, which made the sit that much easier because the dogs already knew her! Would recommend! :)”

About: Currently servicing Twentynine palms, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley. Since I was a child I have been a lover of all animals and was always caring for and rescuing anything that needed help. With that I bring 30+ years of on-hand pet care experience, including 8 years of experience as a veterinary surgical asst. for an orthopedic surgeon, that included working in our connected emergency center. Some of my own dogs have been rescues from neglectful/abusive situations. So, I understand the time, patience and care it takes to build trust with all animals. Currently, I also have a parrot and previously raised 2 bearded dragons, amongst many other animals. I just recently moved to the area and am looking to turn my love of animals into a way to help others have peace of mind about their pets while they are at work or enjoying their free time. What sets me apart from others are both my personal and professional experiences caring for pets, with everything from dogs and cats to reptiles. These experiences have taught me to be calm, gentle and attentive in all situations and given the knowledge and comfort to work with a wide variety of animals from young pets to seniors. This includes the administration of various types and forms of medication, syringe feeding and grooming. If you are searching for someone to care for a pet that is not a cat or dog, please reach out so we can determine if I could be a great fit for your exotic pets or otherwise as well. Friends and family have entrusted me with their pets for as long as I can remember and I always give them the love and care that I would give my own pets because it’s very important to me that all animals feel safe and loved. I do have a larger SUV that can be used to take your fur baby to the vet should the need arise. I offer basic pet grooming services in your home which would include; bathing, drying, brushing, ear cleaning, nail trims (just ask and we can discuss details- I have this listed at $40 as a general price but this could adjust up or down based on size of pet and extent of services). I do free meet and greets prior to taking on new pets so we can make sure everyone involved is comfortable and it’s a great fit for all prior to your pets first time alone with me. As a loving pet mom myself, I know how hard it is to find trustworthy people to leave your pets with. I can assure you I would love and care for your pets like they were my own family, so I hope you pick me as your pets new care buddy :) I look forward to meeting you and your little 4 legged babies!! I am new to the area and currently not working, so this allows my schedule to be very open and flexible for all of your pet care needs. I’m open Monday through Friday from early morning to evening and some Sat/Sun based on dates. We will work together to discuss any and all specific needs your pets may have and any other preferences for care. This will include feeding schedules, any special needs or behavior quirks I need to be aware of, etc. As a cautious pet parent myself, you can rest assured I will never feed your pet anything they shouldn’t have and will always ensure house rules are followed. Currently, I offer house sitting but this does not include overnight stays at the moment. However, I can be available if necessary to stay all day with your pet if they need more than a drop in (for example, special needs or senior pets that need more full time care while you’re at work all day, frequent meds, potty breaks every hour, etc) Just ask and we can discuss details! I love being outside so I can provide all the walks and outdoor play time needed. I of course will provide photo updates of our time together along with any other needed updates upon my arrival and departure. My little 14 lb chihuahua mix loves making new friends, so if your dog is friendly with other dogs and wants a companion on walks or otherwise, we can discuss my little guy tagging along if that’s something you would want.
“Excellent service over a holiday weekend. Emily is conscientious and a great communicator. Her frequent communications gave me great peace of mind. She also went the extra mile by taking care of the house, cleaning, and watering the garden.”

About: I had a wonderful Husky growing up, He was always bursting with energy and personality, eager to run, explore, and snuggle up next to me whenever the day ended. Having him around taught me responsibility, patience, and just how strong the bond between a person and a dog can be. After high school, I adopted a Rottweiler of my own. Raising him from a young age helped me understand training, structure, and daily care better. Soon after, my mom needed some help with her cat, so I welcomed him into my home. For a while, I had both a dog and a cat living together—learning to balance their different personalities, needs, and routines. Later, when my husband and I moved into our own place, we added another furry family member—a sweet Corgi who joined us about two years later. Each pet has brought something special into my life and has helped me grow as a caregiver. I’ve gained hands-on experience with both dogs and cats—from energetic working breeds to loyal guardians and independent, affectionate cats. Caring for them isn’t just about feeding and walks—it’s about building trust, comfort, and a little friendship along the way. Pet sitting fits naturally into my routine since I work part-time with very flexible hours. I’m able to plan my schedule around visits, walks, and check-ins, whether they’re early mornings, midday, or evenings. Because I manage my own time, I can give pets consistent attention, unrushed care, and plenty of love throughout the week. I care for pets in my home and yours with the same level of love, patience, and attention I give my own. In my home, I create a calm, safe, and cozy environment where they can relax, play, and feel like part of the family. I adhere strictly to their regular routines—feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and bedtime habits—to ensure their security and comfort. In your home, I respect their space and maintain their familiar routine to minimize stress. I move at their pace, especially with shy or anxious pets, building trust through gentle interactions, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Whether it’s energetic playtime or quiet cuddles, I prioritize making each pet feel safe, understood, and truly cared for.

“Mary is absolutely wonderful! She sent me pictures and updates of my doggo during her house sitting adventures and even went above and beyond and brought her with her to work once. Mary is a clear communicator, easy going, and wonderful to be around. I’d definitely book again!”

“Donna was absolutely great watching our 3 dogs! She sent so many pictures and updates while we were gone. We never had to worry once about them. Also, came home to a clean house was a bonus! We will definitely use her again!”

What a great Dog Sitter! Bren was very good at caring for my babies. One of my dogs is epileptic, and she delivered his medication perfectly and kept me in the loop. She also took some wonderful pictures of my babies having fun outside.. highly recommend her for any animal care! She’s a keeper
Kaya did great with dog sitting, our pup was well-cared for! We had a last minute change of plans and she was able to come a whole day early for us :) Kaya kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Joshua Tree walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Joshua Tree maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Joshua Tree choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Joshua Tree. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
