“BReN saved me when I had to leave home last minute due to a family emergency and I needed someone to check on my baby girl Xochitl while I was away. I received several photos of kitty being very social and affectionate upon BReN’s arrival. She also made sure to leave extra food and water since the power had gone out in other parts of town due to high winds. I’m so grateful to have someone who cares so much about animals who can care for Xochitl.”

“LeeAnn is such an amazing pet sitter! She's very quick and responsive, and sends the cutest pictures of pets! I'm so thankful she lives in the area <3 Thank you so much, LeeAnn! <3 Mamba and Liv”

“Diana looked after our kitties when we went out of town. She made sure they had food and water, cleaned their litter boxes, loved on them, and helped take care of the house when our mini ac unit was leaking. She did more than was required of a pet sitter ❤️”

“Beverly was an awesome cat sitter for our drop in visits. She cared exactly what we care about with our cats - them staying safe and comfy! She was thorough in locating them and providing photos and updates. We’ll definitely be partnering again!”

“Larissa was very professional, consistent, and thorough. Not a moments hesitation would there be to hire her again. Her communication was superb, as was her overall pet care and attention to detail. And I could tell from all the photos of my Kitty… that she agreed wholeheartedly, as well. A very happy little girl!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is there is no debate with me when it comes to which is better, cats or dogs. I just love taking care of your fur babies! Plus I have dealt with older animals and understand what comes with handling them. Pet care fits in my routine perfectly! This and college will blend in perfectly in my day to day routine getting me where I need to be! I unfortunately cannot have any dogs or cats in my home, because there already are 4 dogs plus a cat in the home that I take care of. But I am willing to stay and take care of your pets in your home.
About: I’ve grown up around animals. Despite being 19, I have over 10 years of experience caring for pets because my wonderful mom made sure I always had a doggy by my side. I absolutely love getting to know each animal’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their humans are away. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats, and I offer drop-ins and house sitting. I treat every pet like they’re my own and will always keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away. 💗 I am currently job searching so at the moment my schedule is almost fully free for pet care! I am unavailable on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and Saturday mornings, but other than that I am all yours for your little fur babies! As your trusted pet sitter I can love on your pups, care for cats and kittens, and clean up animal waste. I will also feed and potentially bathe your animals if requested.
“Renee was friendly and easy to communicate with for our drop in visit. She handled our two dogs (one of them reactive) without any issues and was receptive to all of our care notes. Would happily recommend and book her again.”

“Our dogs love Elizabeth! She spent time with them while were out of town for the day and brought us great peace of mind knowing they’d receive love, care and playtime while we were out. She shared photos and an update to keep us in the loop, and our pups just adore her.”

“Shawna helped me during a family emergency and I’m so grateful for her empathy and her sense of responsibility when caring for pets. I’m eternally grateful that she made time for my cat today.”
“Jenny did a great job coming by and checking on our cats. she was prompt, reliable and sent multiple pictures of my kitties looking happy and comfortable with her. she was super helpful and communicative and we would definitely use her again!”

“Greg was great with two girls! (Cats) He was able to send me updates daily with pictures, even of my shy girl who hides(sleeps) under the covers. Will definitely being using him again.”

About: I have 30 years of experience caring for dogs and understand that every pet has a different personality, routine, and comfort level. I work from home, so the dogs in my care receive close supervision, frequent attention, play, and regular potty breaks. I am comfortable caring for senior dogs and dogs with special needs, and I can administer oral or injected medication when provided with clear instructions. Pet parents can expect thoughtful communication and photo updates while their dog is with me. My goal is simple: to help your dog feel safe, understood, and at home while you are away. I work from home and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets consistent attention throughout the day. I can accommodate regular potty breaks, playtime, walks, feeding routines, medication schedules, and plenty of companionship. I provide attentive care in a non-smoking home with a fenced outdoor area and a gated dog park nearby. I supervise pets closely, follow each owner's feeding, medication, exercise, and household instructions, and take introductions at the dog's pace. My resident dog, Bart, is part of the home, so I want to understand how each guest is socialized before booking. I am also respectful and careful when providing care in a client's home. Please share any routines, triggers, medical needs, or safety concerns so I can create a calm, comfortable stay.
“Katie is an awesome caretaker! She set up a meet and greet right away, and was kind and attentive to our two older dogs, one of whom is blind and needs extra assistance and love. We were super grateful she was able to accept our emergency request for drop-in visits, and we will certainly invite her back again next time we need a sitter. Thank you so much!”

About: Both of us grew up with pets in our homes; some of our fondest memories include time spent with our animals. Tristan has had dogs ranging from a little Chihuahua to a Great Dane, while Adeline had a series of high-energy mixes, as well as a couple mellow cats. We watched many of our friends' animals prior to adopting our pup George about a year ago, and have loved creating a forever home for him! We both are self-employed, and frequently work from home throughout the week. This flexibility allows us to be attentive with breaks and walks, and ensures that our pup and yours won't be left alone for too long each day. We have a fenced-in yard and live in a very walkable area near a park. We love to take walks and play with our dog, and will treat yours with the same amount of attention and care!
“I am so grateful to have come across Kristin through Rover. My baby Lyu absolutely adores her, and we are both grateful to have Kristin as a part of our weekly routine. Her training techniques, knowledge, and insight have been invaluable in strengthening the bond between my pup and me. Kristin is a strong and confident dog trainer and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to enrich their dog’s life.”

Family medical emergency meant I needed a cat sitter ASAP. Beverly was able to do this and was flexible when I needed to be away longer than originally planned. Beverly took great care of our cat, stopping by for morning and afternoon feedings, litter box, and providing our cat with chin scratches and lap time. Beverly will take good care of your pet!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Joshua Tree. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
