“Mallory did a great job with Ginger - they connected immediately! Mallory was prompt, kind, asked great questions, and is confident and trustworthy. We will be booking her again and again! It's a huge relief knowing Ginger is in great hands.”

“Eva was amazing with our dog Lola. Took her on walks, kept to her schedule, and gave her lots of love and belly rubs. She sent us daily pictures and let us know how things were going. We could not have asked for a better sitter and she definitely is a dog lover. Lola was sorry to see her go.”

“Kathy has been absolutely wonderful to work with! I have two dogs, a senior Vizsla and young Boston Terrier. I hired Kathy to pet sit for three days, several hours each day. Kathy went above and beyond to make my pets feel comfortable! She engaged with them, sent pictures throughout the day and let me know how they were doing. She also had great communication prior to the booking. I will definitely hire Kathy again.”

“Elizabeth has been such a great sitter for our girls. It is such a relief not to have to worry about our furrbabies while we are out of town. They are always in good hands and we are truly grateful!”

“Kam is absolutely wonderful. We have weird dogs and one has anxiety issues and Kam is so patient with them. We are super happy to have her watching them and it keeps us at ease with their care. We have rebooked and will be rebooking Kam in the future.”

“We consider ourselves very lucky to have found Ashley on such short notice ahead of the holidays. Our dates were in flux and we couldn't book as far in advance as we would have liked. I was VERY anxious booking someone new for a full week (as our normal sitter was not available) especially given we have a senior cat that requires regular meds, but Ashley did everything in her power to make this paranoid cat mom feel at ease! She stopped by for a meet and greet ahead of the booking. She sent loads of pictures and updates, including regular updates on how my senior boy was doing taking his meds. Both cats seemed very comfortable with her as evidenced by the snuggles my senior cat gave and the very limited number of hisses from our spicy girl. When we got home, the house was in impeccable shape and Ashley even brought in our mail/packages, which I greatly appreciated! We will definitely be rebooking with Ashley next time we need someone to watch the buddies!”

“Ashley was very attentive to our dogs and communicated all the necessary information. The dogs really liked Ashley. We are thankful for the peace of mind while away because Ashley cared for our dogs so well.”

About: I have had dogs since I was 17 most of the time 2 t o 3 dogs at a time. I enjoy walking them and playing outside with them and loving on them. I currently work a fulltime job with work from home days as well. I work 8am to 4pm. I still have plenty of time with my animals and take my dog for walks or play fetch in the back yard. I have experience with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I also love to clean so you would never come home to a mess. I will only care for your pets in your home. I think it is best for them to stay home and not be introduced to a new location plus new people and pets. I will care for your pets exactly how you do.
“Faith was a life saver! She took great care of our dog Chloe while we were on vacation. When our flights got interrupted and we had to come home a day late she was able to come back and take care of Chloe again that night and the next morning! Whew! Will definitely use her again!”

“Gabby is wonderful—reliable, attentive, and genuinely caring with Sebastian. He’s always calm and happy when I get home, which means everything. She even went out of her way to stop by after work when I realized I’d be getting in later than expected. Highly recommend!”

“Rachel stayed with our pups for a week while we were on vacation. Our home was cared for and our pups were loved all week! One of our pups was on antibiotics while simultaneously battling an ear infection and Rachel managed both without hesitation! Thank you Rachel!”

“Kayla was great she is very sweet and attentive with our Steeley we will definitely use her again she sent pictures and walked and played with our lab she is a very sweet young lady”

“Darren’s first visit with our golden doodle Zeek was a huge success. We were a little nervous because Zeek can ba aggressive around other dogs. But it was no problem for Darren. He sent us lots of pictures and kept us updated.”
About: Hello everyone! I’m Bailey and I’m 27. Animals have been a huge part of my life and taking care of them is a big passion of mine. I have owned rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters and your typically dogs and cats. I currently am a proud owner of 2 rescued short hair cats and a senior shitzu. I currently am available any day and time! There’s nothing more stressful than having to leave your fur babies but no fear I’m here to help relieve your anxiety and treat your pets like my own! I’m currently working full time however my job is very flexible allowing me to be available anytime during the week. Weekend I have full open availability! Comfortable to crate your animal, administer medications, provide exercise, cuddles & scratches, and follow diet restrictions/accommodations. Minimal dog training like practicing commands and leash guiding
“Shelby did a great job with our pup! She stayed with him and cuddled him while we were out all day and safely secured him in his kennel when she left for the day. He was a happy and safe dog thanks to her!”

“Christina was outstanding with our two cats and dog she took great care of them, loved on them, removed a few ticks (wooded lot) and sent plenty of photos to show us all was A-OK! She is a fantastic carer for animals. We will be asking her back!”

“Emberly was spectacular. She helped us out with very short notice, taking care of three dogs that can get pretty rowdy. She handled our sick puppy with the care, love, and affection Dottie needed, even though Emberly didn’t know until the night before how much specialized care Dottie would need. My wife and I greatly appreciate Emberly’s help, and we would definitely use her again.”

About: From the time I was old enough to ask “can we keep him” I’ve always taken care of my best friends. From walking them 3 miles to the vet (before I was old enough to drive) to daily feedings, bathing, grooming and of course, treats! While I spoil the pets, I’m always sure to give them the highest grade food and treats. I believe they deserve the best. Diet and exercise are important. A daily regiment of “fetch” is highly recommended by Duke, the black lab! I would love to take care of your best friend and ensure he/she is given the highest quality of care while keeping Duke company (Duke plays well with others.) I’ve been working from home for the last seven years. I always have time to make sure the water bowls are full and play time is given. Who says you can’t work from the patio while throwing a ball for fetch? Duke and I have a great fenced in yard for plenty of play time and potty breaks. All vegetation is harmless for pets. Grass is well groomed and “yard bombs” removed daily (or as often as required).
“We can’t say enough great things about Madelyn she took amazing care of our boys, Jett and Griffin, while we were away. From the start, communication was fantastic — we received regular updates, adorable photos:)”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,511 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Jersey. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Jersey walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Jersey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Jersey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Jersey. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
