“Jessica, Abu and Justin are the canine equivalent of the cat’s meow of dog sitters. Jessica is quick to communicate, easy going, and so knowledgeable! The backyard and house are well suited to canine guests. We can’t say enough good things and though our sweet dog is a homebody, we think he’s actually looking forward to his next stay and whatever adventures await him. Abu is one of a kind and a gentle, friendly host. THANK YOU!”

“Hailey was great! She watched our 2 yr old Charlie girl while we were in Newport for a night. Charlie loved her dog Henri which helped her settle in. Hailey sent lots of pictures and videos. I would definitely book her again!”

“Karissa is very caring and will love your dogs like her own for the time she has them. She sends pictures at least once a day so you know they’re doing well. My dog had a great weekend while I was away. Would book again if I need it! Thank you so much!”
“Mattea was wonderful. A truly kind person with great experience, knowledge and a perfect background. We were 100% relaxed, knowing that our dog is in very good hands. And so we picked up a very relaxed and happy dog. We can highly recommend Mattea, five star gold rating!!!”
“Jean is an absolutely incredible sitter! She goes above and beyond to make sure your pet is loved, cared for and feels safe during their stay. We can always tell after each visit how much sugar has loved her stay with Jean, and there are many video and photo updates to take the stress away.”

“Caley had a rough start to the week. She's getting older, and requires more attention. Celina kept us in the loop, but we thought we might have to come home. We and Celina came up with a plan that allowed us to stay on vacation, and Celina handled Caley like a pro! We appreciate that so much! Sorry for the sleepless nights.”

“As always Madison was amazing! She’s great with communication and flexible with drop off and pick up. She sent us the cutest Easter pictures of our pups, and we can tell they always have the best time staying with Madison. 10/10 recommend her!”

“Nick (Adalberto) is the perfect person to care for dogs. He and his wife have a dog friendly home, and 2 dogs of their own that help make boarding dogs feel welcome. I adopted a 10yo cocker spaniel one month ago, and needed to go away for 5 nights for training. I was worried that Romeo would feel abandoned again when I left him. I shouldn't have worried. Nick and his wife welcomed Romeo into their home like he was one of their own! Their 2 dogs even acted like they were happy to see him! Nick sent lots of pictures, and Romeo looked really happy! I have a training follow-up next Tuesday and I'm so glad Nick can take care of Romeo again! He and his wife fed, watered, walked and played with Romeo. I'm so grateful and happy to know them as wonderful dog-loving people, and as a professional dog-care resource. I will call Nick every time Romeo needs a home away from home. I recommend Nick 100% and without reservation!”

“Carolina is simply amazing. She is so accommodating and trustworthy. I had at least two updates, pictures, and videos of my little guy. Her family is wonderful, loving, and caring. I will be using her again on our next vacation.”

“Cherylee and Steven are great dog sitters! My dog is a slow to warm type and they were able to get her comfortable and eating quickly during her stay. They were also communicative and kept me up to date with how my dog is doing. I greatly recommend Cherylee and Steven!”

“David was absolutely wonderful with Merci and Dolce. I really appreciated the videos and updates he sent—it made being away so much easier and gave me total peace of mind. It was clear they were having an amazing time, and honestly, I think they may have enjoyed being at his house even more than mine! He was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely caring. It’s such a relief to find someone you can fully trust with your pets, and I truly can’t say enough good things about him. I would highly recommend David to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate sitter.”

“This was our first experience with Rover. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter like Kyleigh. Kyleigh and her family treated our dog Luna with so much love and attention, and the daily updates gave us such peace of mind. Our dog was relaxed, comfortable, and clearly enjoyed the time together. We’re so grateful and will definitely be booking again! Thank you Kyleigh and family!!!😊”

“Zachary was just the best - kind, attentive, and most importantly RJ came back to us happy! We were provided with plenty of photo updates & were thrilled to see RJ’s new pup friends. We will definitely (and only) use Zachary in the future.”

“Carrie and her family took good care of our pup at the last minute. She has a wealth of knowledge and understanding for dogs of various kinds and has a genuine care for the anyone she has under her watch. We look forward to requesting her service in the future!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in RI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
