“Kimberly is amazing! She's super communicative. Buttons (my dog) absolutely adored her. My wife was a bit nervous dropping off Buttons due to some recent leash aggression, but Kimberly and her mother completely put us at ease. They know how to introduce the dogs and have a great setup. Added bonus, Kimberly sends lots of pictures of your pup. I'd highly highly recommend using Kimberly to watch your dog and will be booking with her again next time we're in Newport.”

About: I am a life-long animal lover with 7+ years experience as a veterinary technician and boarding kennel attendant. I have pretty much seen it all when it comes to pet care! Along with my experience in taking care of other’s beloved pets (feeding, walking, training, play times), I am also able to administer any type of medications (oral, topical, injections) and am confident in taking care of pets with any medical needs, especially senior dogs. Being a kennel attendant and vet tech, I know that so many dogs struggle with anxiety, especially when they’re separated from their owners. I have lots of experience with these kinds of dogs and can assure your fur baby will feel safe and comfortable with me. I genuinely just love spending my free time with animals of all shapes and sizes, and making sure they have the best experience while under my care. Consider me for any of your pet care needs! I am an independent contractor, therefore my schedule is very flexible. My partner primarily works from home, so there is always someone home to look after your pet. We are a very active couple who loves going for walks, visiting dog parks, swimming, jogging, hiking, etc. Your pet will have potty breaks every 1-2 hours to ensure their comfort. We are open to dog boarding or day care in our home. We are also open to dog walking. We have a small fenced in yard behind our apartment, which makes potty breaks a breeze. We have a 5 year old Aussiedoodle who loves other dogs. We are always keeping a close on your pets when they are getting acquainted and for feedings. They are allowed on the furniture. We have multiple dog beds, no crates necessary if your dog is house trained.
“Chey was so great taking care of my dog Brody. She was so understanding of his quirks and really cared to make sure he was comfortable between her house sititng and Brody boarding at hers over a week. She was very flexible with scheduling which was awesome. Her great communication made me feel so comfortable with Brody staying with her for a long stay and I couldnt recommend her more!!!”

“Maple had been with us for only 3 weeks and it was the first time leaving her for an afternoon. We now believe that she'd like to know when we're planning to go away again (so she can go back to Sharon's house). It worked out very very well. Sharon is calm and more than competent.”

“Kate was great! She was available last minute and watched our pup longer than originally planned. She had healthy tasty snacks for the pup and was very kind and friendly with us as well. We will definitely call her next time we are in Newport!”

About: 18 years ago my husband and I adopted our first border collie puppy, and Maggie made us a family! Over the years, we've had 2 cats, a hedgehog, bunny, guinea pig, a "protege" border collie puppy, as well as 3 human kids. I am experienced in dog training, elder pet care, medication administration, exotic pet care, and I have multiple references available on request. I hold advanced degrees in education and disability advocacy and am a certified English teacher. As a stay-at-home mom, I have morning, afternoon and evening flexibility for dog walking and drop in care. I would love to walk and care for your pets. While I am happy to do drop in care at your home, my cats would object to having your pet be boarded inside our home. I am interested in caring for dogs and cats in the client's home only, as we currently have two cats who would become upset if I were to care for animals at their house! Our border collie would love having a companion for dog walks, however!

“Jan and Mick were great sitters for my little “Millie”. It was her first time away from home so I was a little nervous. However, Jan and Mick made me feel very comfortable with leaving my puppy with them. They sent me pictures of Millie and her new friends playing which confirmed that I made a good choice. I will definitely call them again when I am in their area.”

“Colleen treated Lucy wonderfully and we will definitely be asking her again to help out! She was responsive, flexible with our schedule, and consistently updated us throughout the day with lots of photos. It was obvious from the beginning she really loves her furry clientele… would highly recommend Colleen for your next pup needs!”

About: I am an animal lover. I have watched other’s pets for long and short periods of time (6 months). From puppy to elder dog. To healthy to needing medications. Your dog, when with me, is the most important person in the world to me. I don’t text or talk on the phone when with your pet. All my attention is focused on your loved ones safety I work part time from home. Very flexible hours You name the time of day or night and I can be there. I am looking for 3-4 regular clients. I cannot have a pet overnight. It’s not allowed where I live. I can watch your pet at your pets home, which I think makes them feel more comfortable. I normally just sleep on the couch with the dogs. When they are with me, they are as loved as they are my own. It’s very hard for me to say goodbye so it’s often when I am with a doggy for 45 min and I am only booked for 30 min. I am just switching to Rover from Wag I had over 300 dogs and 50 preferred clients. If you were to go to their site, you will see, I am by the numbers, their highest rated walker. I am switching to River because I feel Rover provides more support for the walker and the pet owner

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Jamestown commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in RI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
