Kristen was a delight from the start. She is so sweet and kind. She took care of my cat for a weekend, not only feeding him, but she also administered medication, cleaned the litter box and spent some time with him. I would totally recommend Kristen to anyone looking for a cat sitter and will definitely be reaching out to her next time I will be out of town 😁

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life and have hands-on experience caring for a variety of breeds and personalities. I was raised with a Yellow Lab, Beagle, and German Shepherd, which gave me a strong foundation in dog behavior, exercise needs, and daily care. I currently have a 7-year-old Siberian Husky, so I’m very comfortable with high-energy dogs, long walks, and structured routines. I also care for a 4-year-old rabbit, giving me experience with smaller pets and their unique needs. In addition, I regularly walk and help care for my friends’ dogs while they’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and prioritize safety, patience, and attentive care. I currently work as a Physician Assistant- so I have an atypical schedule leaving me with availability on weekends, Mondays, and Tuesdays to care for your pets. I can provide walks, drop in visits, and feeding. I also have ability stay for extended hours if you are traveling or going away a for a long weekend. I currently work as a physician assistant so I have an atypical work schedule. I am available weekends, Mondays, and Tuesdays. Perfect for drop ins or walks when traveling, taking a long weekend, or going into the office I focus on maintaining their normal routine to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I follow all feeding and walking schedules and other care preferences exactly as provided. I make sure pets get appropriate exercise, playtime, and affection based on their personality and energy level. I keep the home tidy, ensure fresh water is always available, and monitor pets closely for any changes in behavior or health. I also provide regular updates and photos to owners so they feel comfortable and connected while they’re away

About: I have been a in-home pet sitter for the past six years for a medium size dog who had special needs as a puppy. I also am a pet photographer and have done pet portraits and holiday cards! I recently lost my beloved dog Zoey, who I had for over 12 years. I love dogs deeply, and welcome them into my home. I am available on a part time basis with more availability during the summer months. Weekends are ideal but I can be available after 5pm on weekdays or early morning. I live in a pet friendly apartment building, in a dog friendly neighborhood! My apartment is in the smaller side but dog and cat safe!

Kenny is fantastic! It’s the first time we’ve used a pet sitter so we were nervous how our pets would react at first. But everything went perfectly and Kenny was able to kindly handle our dog who is very cautious and protective of our family and home. Our pets mean the world to us so it’s difficult being apart, and when we returned home they were all relaxed, content, and happy!!

I cannot recommend Lisa enough! This our third time with Lisa and from the very beginning, communication has been always clear, prompt, and reassuring. She took amazing care of our cats, making sure they were well-fed, entertained, and loved while we were away. I received regular updates with photos and little notes that gave me peace of mind. One of our cats has medical issue and she made sure he was getting his medication daily and trying her best for him to take it, since he is very shy, we are very happy that he warmed up so quickly—it was clear he felt safe and comfortable. We came home to two happy, relaxed cats and a spotless home. Truly above and beyond—I’ll definitely be booking again.

Karla was great and we can't thank her enough for taking great care of our cats on short notice. The cats are usually extremely shy around new people and will hide when they come in to the house. But they warmed up to Karla quickly and we got lots of pictures of happy cats being played with and entertained. A+++

About: There have always been animals in my house, and I truly like them more than people! I have watched/walked many animals over the years. I also volunteer at a local animal shelter, so I have lots of experience As a teacher, I have an incredibly flexible schedule during the summer months and am completely free throughout the day for drop ins and walks! I also dedicate regular time to volunteering at the animal shelter, meaning animal care is already a seamless, rewarding part of my daily and weekly routine. Every home visit centers entirely on keeping your pet safe, happy, and comfortable in their own familiar environment. For cats, a standard visit includes scooping the litter box, refreshing their water bowl, and feeding fresh food exactly according to your instructions. Beyond the basics, I dedicate the rest of the visit to active engagement. If your cat is playful, I will break out the laser pointers and wand toys. If they are shy or anxious, I utilize my shelter socialization skills… giving them plenty of quiet space, reading their body language, and simply sitting nearby so they feel secure. I also respect your home by keeping pet areas clean and double-checking that all doors and locks are completely secure before I leave. You will always receive detailed updates and plenty of phot

I couldn’t be happier with the care my two cats received! From the very beginning, Lisa was reliable, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Each of my cats has a different personality, and Lisa took the time to make both of them feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for. I came home to two happy, relaxed cats and everything was just as I left it. I highly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a caring, dependable, and professional cat sitter! Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my fur babies!

Marissa watched our cat for one week and she is amazing! This was our first experience with Rover and it couldn’t have gone better. If you’re on here and you’re not sure who to reach out to, reach out to Marissa! She is responsible, trustworthy and kind. We did an initial meet and greet at my house, and she asked great questions about my cat’s care that even I didn’t think about. She arrived at the same time everyday and sent me the cutest pictures of him. They clearly bonded. Marissa also works in the veterinary field which is great. I will definitely book her again during future trips!

Stephanie took great care of my two cats, Oreo and Nala, while I was away. She followed all of my instructions and made sure their routines were kept consistent, which I really appreciated. Oreo is a social butterfly and enjoyed her company right away. What impressed me most was seeing my shy girl Nala slowly come out of her shell. By the last couple of visits she was rubbing against Stephanie and even allowing pets, which is a big deal for her. That alone speaks volumes to me. Stephanie also shared photos during the visits and kept things running smoothly while I was gone. I’m grateful that I was able to relax on my trip knowing my cats were being looked after, and came home to two happy kitties. Thank you again, Stephanie! 🐱

Angela was the best cat sitter we could have ever found. From the moment I requested to book, she was communicative and friendly. She came by the same day for a meet and greet and was so friendly to our little Laszlo. My boyfriend and I knew instantly that we would hire her. This is our first pet together and he’s a little baby so we were really worried to leave him for such a long time. Angela reassured us and made us feel comfortable way before our trip. We booked Angela for a daily drop in and she provided Laszlo with food, water and a litter box change. She gave Laszlo lots of cuddles and play time & provided us with live updates and photos. She also watered our plants and made sure to check in if we needed anything else. She instantly fell in love with Laszlo and gave him such great care and attention. It’s unfortunate that she lives in Brazil 8 months out of the year but we will 100% be using her again when she comes back. Angela is also a really outgoing person so I think I have just found a new friend! 100000/10. Best cat sitter ever!

Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Island Park. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
