“Kristen was a delight from the start. She is so sweet and kind. She took care of my cat for a weekend, not only feeding him, but she also administered medication, cleaned the litter box and spent some time with him. I would totally recommend Kristen to anyone looking for a cat sitter and will definitely be reaching out to her next time I will be out of town 😁”

“Karla was great and we can't thank her enough for taking great care of our cats on short notice. The cats are usually extremely shy around new people and will hide when they come in to the house. But they warmed up to Karla quickly and we got lots of pictures of happy cats being played with and entertained. A+++”

About: My journey with dogs began with Sparkle, a rescue I raised from eight weeks old. For 14 wonderful years, she was my best friend. In her later years, she navigated life with a disability and absolutely rocked a pink wheelchair. Losing her in 2018 didn't diminish the love she left behind. It redirected it outward, straight toward every dog I've met since. I’ve since adopted Harvey, a rescue Pittie with a backstory that’ll make you cry and a personality that’ll make you laugh. He was found as a critically starving stray in Texas, brought to a high-kill shelter in NYC, and pulled from a euthanasia list just in the nick of time. Harvey has since blossomed into the happiest, goofiest, most brisket-shaped dog you'll ever meet. His favorite hobbies are couch hogging and unhinged zoomies. Rehabilitating him deepened my understanding of canine anxiety, trauma recovery, and the kind of steady, patient love it takes to help a dog truly feel safe. That experience, combined with years of hands-on care for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, is what I bring to every visit. I've worked with elderly and special needs dogs, as well as dogs managing anxiety, hyperactivity, and behavioral challenges, across a wide range of breeds from Pitbulls and Chihuahuas to St. Bernards and Corgis. I'm currently working toward board certification in canine massage therapy through my forthcoming practice. Your pet is family. I'll treat them like it… and probably talk to them in a silly voice the whole time. My schedule revolves around animals, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! If you have any questions about my availability, just send me a message! I treat every pet in my care the way I treat my own, and I welcome pets with disabilities. I have experience administering oral medications, tinctures, and topical treatments. I cared for my late dog Sparkle with medication administered via syringe. Special needs, senior pets, and animals with medical routines are in safe and experienced hands with me. I take time to learn each pet's individual needs, quirks, and comfort levels before and during every visit…because trust between a sitter and an animal isn't assumed…it’s built.
About: 🐾 Hi, I’m Jane. I’ve been caring for dogs in their own homes for 10 years and I can honestly say, I love what I do. There’s something really special about a dog who barely notices their owner left because they’re too busy having a good time. I enjoy leaving clients to wonder if I even stayed — everything is just as they left it, with one exception: a happier pet. I specialize in walks, drop-in visits, and overnight house sitting, all in the comfort of your pet’s own home. I learn their routine, respect their quirks, and treat your space the way I’d want someone to treat mine. You’ll hear from me regularly with updates, photos, and videos of your dear girl or sweet boi. If you like the mundane, you’ll hear from us — me and your dog (or cat, or gerbil, or boa python — we’re all inclusive here). If you’d love to see the reasons strangers fall for your sweet girlie or darling boi, you’ll definitely hear from me while your loved one is in my care. Once you reach out, I’ll schedule a complimentary meet and greet to make sure me and your special four-legged loved one are a good match. Spoiler: we usually are. 🐾 🐾 Providing care for your loved one is built into my week, not mushed into it. Available weekdays and weekends for walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays. 🐾 🐾 This is where the complimentary meet and greet pays off for you. Because we’ve spoken ahead of time, it’s even easier for me to keep your pet on their usual routine, respect your home, and stay in consistent communication so you always know your dog is doing well. There are legends abound of me leaving my client’s place a little cleaner than I found it too. 🐾
“Patricia was great with my cat, Skitty! We hired her to do drop-ins to set up the auto-feeders, clean up his litterbox, and play and cuddle with him. She is very communicative and sent lots of photos, which I appreciate so much. She made sure to update me on other things going on in the house as well. I would highly recommend her for cat sitting. Thank you so much, Patricia!”

Now I foster dogs and cats till they find their forever homes. Even family and friends ask me to watch their pets on occasion. I’ve done dog walking and boarding for many years now as well and I would love to continue to provide for animals rain or shine. I currently work from home so the most I leave for are some social events here and there or groceries. I have transportation if pick up and drop off is needs as well. I have a gated yard around my apartment. There grass and all the other animals in the building run around and use the property. I provide at least three walks/potty breaks a day, take time to train and reward. I’ve giving medication and baths on request as well.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Hewlett Neck
Marissa watched our cat for one week and she is amazing! This was our first experience with Rover and it couldn’t have gone better. If you’re on here and you’re not sure who to reach out to, reach out to Marissa! She is responsible, trustworthy and kind. We did an initial meet and greet at my house, and she asked great questions about my cat’s care that even I didn’t think about. She arrived at the same time everyday and sent me the cutest pictures of him. They clearly bonded. Marissa also works in the veterinary field which is great. I will definitely book her again during future trips!

Patricia was awesome and completely put my mind at ease while I was away. I’m new to the neighborhood and it was such a relief to know we had such a kind, reliable and communicative person nearby to check in on our two cats. Everything was perfect when we returned. Thank you again!!

Stephanie took great care of my two cats, Oreo and Nala, while I was away. She followed all of my instructions and made sure their routines were kept consistent, which I really appreciated. Oreo is a social butterfly and enjoyed her company right away. What impressed me most was seeing my shy girl Nala slowly come out of her shell. By the last couple of visits she was rubbing against Stephanie and even allowing pets, which is a big deal for her. That alone speaks volumes to me. Stephanie also shared photos during the visits and kept things running smoothly while I was gone. I’m grateful that I was able to relax on my trip knowing my cats were being looked after, and came home to two happy kitties. Thank you again, Stephanie! 🐱

Angela was the best cat sitter we could have ever found. From the moment I requested to book, she was communicative and friendly. She came by the same day for a meet and greet and was so friendly to our little Laszlo. My boyfriend and I knew instantly that we would hire her. This is our first pet together and he’s a little baby so we were really worried to leave him for such a long time. Angela reassured us and made us feel comfortable way before our trip. We booked Angela for a daily drop in and she provided Laszlo with food, water and a litter box change. She gave Laszlo lots of cuddles and play time & provided us with live updates and photos. She also watered our plants and made sure to check in if we needed anything else. She instantly fell in love with Laszlo and gave him such great care and attention. It’s unfortunate that she lives in Brazil 8 months out of the year but we will 100% be using her again when she comes back. Angela is also a really outgoing person so I think I have just found a new friend! 100000/10. Best cat sitter ever!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hewlett Neck. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
