Shanna did an amazing job caring for my cats while I was away on a much-needed vacation. From our initial meeting, my cats took to her right away, which was such a relief! She was very responsive and shared thoughtful, detailed updates in each Rover card. I genuinely looked forward to reading them after every visit. It was clear she cared for Skylar & Jackson as if they were her own. I was able to feel at ease during my trip because I knew they were in good hands. Highly recommend!

About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and personalities, and I’m comfortable following specific routines, feeding schedules, and care instructions. I know how important it is to have peace of mind, so I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages during every visit or walk. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive to each dog’s unique needs. Whether your furry friend loves long walks, playing fetch, or simply taking their time to sniff every tree, I’ll make sure they have a great experience. As a teacher, I am currently off for the summer and have a very flexible schedule. I am available all days of the week, including weekdays and weekends, for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting. During the school year, my availability is more limited, but I will always update my calendar in advance so pet parents can plan accordingly. I care for pets in my clients’ homes by following their established routines to help animals feel comfortable and secure in their familiar environment. I make sure to provide fresh food and water, regular walks or playtime, litter box or potty breaks, and plenty of attention and affection based on each pet’s personality and needs. I also keep the home tidy, respect all instructions, and send updates with photos so you always know how your pet is doing while you’re away.

About: Hi! My name is Neil D. Wallace and I love dogs. Dogs make me happy. My favorite dogs are Blue Staffies and Pugs. I have most experience walking Doodles, Pitbulls, Huskies and Chihuahas. I also communicate everything, and promise an open book attitude with owners. All hours until i book my next show. This is just a side hustle when demand is low in the acting world, which will change, with my contribution. No matter what dog I take care of, there is always one thing in common. The owner is always right. Even if I think something might work better for the pups, the owner knows best; open communication is key.

About: NYC AREA ONLY! I must be able to reach your address via transit. Due to transit times, I may not be able to take a last-minute request. **Dogs I have 17 years of experience, cats I grew up with and rabbits I have 7 years with** I had the pleasure of owning a big beautiful rottweiler greater swiss mountain dog boy for many years until I lost him to cancer. I also grew up with cats! Check out my kitty profile to see my best friend, an orange tabby boy. He made it all the way to high school putting up with me before it was his time to go. Losing him was as hard as losing my college best friend, my rottie mix. . Outside of that, I professionally raised, trained, and showed rabbits for a decade and had a professional show horse while I was in college. With the passing of my big rottie boy, I couldnt bring myself to have a new dog and my schedule is too busy to own another these days so instead I offer my services to help other busy pet owners. I have worked with pit bulls, huskies, stubborn shepherds, all kinds of dogs from volunteering at shelters to taking care of friends dogs while they were out of town to just helping neighbors get in potty breaks and walks for elderly pet owners who cant always go for long walks. . I am in my later 30s and have experience in the hospitality industry, corporate security industry, airline industry, and medical field (ex FF/Medic). Your pet is like one of your kids- their safety and security matters as much as someone who understands animal body language. Your dog and I can work on basic things like leash manners while on our walk (its all included if they need it). Im available to take dogs out for walks in my free time. Must book at least 24 hours in advance. I will update my availability based on my primary job schedule, any time I am out of town, or unavailable due to personal life appointments. I do not offer in my home sitting (I live in a condo and the HOA does not allow large pets in this facility/only service animals). I am a will check on your pet house call and on the go dog walker only. If your dog does not have a harness, I will NOT be walking your dof for their OWN safety. Dogs can easily slip out of leashes. It also helps them with leash manners and allows me better control of them if I needed to move them quickly from a situation. I prefer to walk dogs away from busy roads/busy intersections and will take advantage of any nature trails nearby. Dog parks can be stressful on dogs, so unless your dog has playmates that it regularly sees at a specific dog park, I will not take your dog to an unfamiliar area and let them run free with other dogs where they could become involved in a fight. Generally, I walk them around their local neighborhood or on a nature trail. NO car rides (I dont even have a car). Your dog always stays close to home and in a familiar environment. Treats will be used for positive reinforcement but due to dogs having food allergies, I DO NOT provide treats. All owners must provide their OWN pet-specific "safe treats" and note ANY restrictions such as "Only one or two whole treats" or for bigger dogs, "5 cookies max" (these are just generic examples, its up to you to know your pets diet and leave instructions for what your pet needs). CATS- same deal, although cats typically wont take treats from strangers so don't be offended or surprised if you find kitty crunchies left untouched. Kitty churus/"tubes"- if your cat cannot have the whole tube, please leave a ziplock baggie that I can put the remainder of the tube in. I will only squeeze out the directed amount and then place the tube in the baggie and leave it in your fridge so it doesnt spoil from the coastal heat/humidity and so bugs cant get in it.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all ages and with different needs since I was a teen. I’ve had two of my own :) I’m very active so love doing out door activities with them! I currently work remotely, so I have plenty of time to play with your furbaby’s! I am available to drop in for walks if you’re local, dog-sit, and board in my home. With a lot of love and as if they were my own. I have a yard but mainly love going on walks or hikes (depending on the dog). I work from home so I have a very flexible schedule and I don’t ever leave a pet alone more than 3 hrs at most I care for them as I do my own. My husband and I are usually home and if possible (depending on the furbaby) we always include the pups in any outdoor errand/activity

About: I treat every pet as if they were my own. What sets me apart is my attention to each pet’s unique personality, routine, and comfort level—I take the time to make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I’m also comfortable handling pets with anxiety and work to create a calm, reassuring environment. You will always get consistent updates and clear communication, so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. I’m currently working in a high school so I am home early by 2:45 and have availability for the remainder of the evening! Pets stay in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment where they’re treated like part of the family. I stick closely to their usual feeding, walking, and sleeping schedules to help them feel at ease. There’s plenty of supervised playtime, affection, and downtime, depending on their personality. I also make sure the space is pet-friendly and secure at all times.

About: With a genuine love for all animals, I've been caring for furry friends for over three years professionally here in the US. Back in Italy, my experience stems from caring for my own dogs, creating a deep understanding of the bond between pets and their owners. My services include feedings, baths, regular walks, and extra attention for senior dogs. Additionally, I have hands-on experience with senior dogs, providing them the extra attention they need, such as assistance with walking and more frequent potty breaks. Your furry friend isn't just another job for me; it's an opportunity to make sure they feel cherished, secure, and content. As I ease back into the workplace, my schedule is open and flexible, allowing ample time to prioritize and care for your pets daily. Your furry friends are a top priority in my routine, receiving not just attention but genuine companionship. Unfortunately, I can't board pets in my home, but I offer dedicated in-home sitting services. I prioritize your pet's well-being by maintaining their familiar routine, creating a safe and comfortable environment. I ensure their needs are met, from feeding and playtime to adhering to any specific requirements. Your pets can enjoy the coziness of their own space while receiving the care, attention, and respect they deserve.

About: I’ve been caring for animals in my neighborhood and volunteering with Sean Casey Animal Rescue since I was 16. I’m experienced in reading both cats and dogs body language and adapting my approach to each animal’s personality. I’m especially patient with anxious pets, helping them feel safe and comfortable, and I also enjoy keeping energetic pets engaged through play, exercise, and enrichment. I treat every pet as if they were my own and prioritize their safety, routine, and well-being. Caring for animals is already a regular part of my daily and weekly routine. I build my schedule around providing consistent care, including walks, potty breaks, feeding, playtime, and lots of affection. I enjoy staying active, so outdoor walks and exercise are something I genuinely look forward to. I also understand the importance of maintaining a pet’s routine, paying close attention to their body language, and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their family is away. I treat every pet with the same patience and care I would give my own. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible. I carefully follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, take dogs out for walks and potty breaks, clean litter boxes, administer basic care as instructed, and make sure each pet gets the attention, play, and affection they need. I pay close attention to their body language and behavior so I can respond to their individual needs, whether they need extra reassurance or more activity. I also treat every client’s home with respect by keeping it clean, secure, and exactly as I found it while providing regular updates for peace of mind.

Alex was wonderful. I can’t recommend him enough! He took amazing care of my dog while we were away and treated her like she was his own. She can be stubborn on walks, but he was incredibly patient and somehow got her walking calmly and politely on a leash. It was obvious he genuinely cared about her and took the time to work with her instead of just watching her. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ll definitely be using him again and would recommend him to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, knowledgeable, and great with dogs.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Island Park stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Island Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Island Park with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Island Park. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
