Carol was great. Apollo has severe anxiety during thunderstorms and she took care of him. Gave him his medication and cuddled with him to make him feel safe. She played with him and took him on short walks. She asked questions when needed and sent us pictures daily. I highly recommend Carol. She treated Apollo like he was her own. We already have her booked for a second time.

About: I approach all walks of life with an open heart and love. Because of this I believe all critters seek out my affections and makes for fun interactions. I am currently at a cross road in life and looking for new situations that are more fulfilling. I absolutely enjoy spending my time with four legged friends. I have a mostly private fenced in yard with plenty of room for running and playing. I also can provide crates and segregated spots for our friends that need their own space or maybe a little to shy.

About: I am an animal lover. I’ve had cats and dogs my whole life as well as goats, chickens, and an occasional bird. I’ve also rescued and/or raised squirrels, rabbits, and a raccoon. I am retired so I have plenty of time to care for your babies. My baby (chihuahua) has epilepsy so I’m familiar with sticking to routines and administering oral medication. I am really quite a home body. I do a lot of crocheting. The only time that is not negotiable is the first and third Saturday 7:00am to 2:00pm of each month when I try to sell my crochet items at the farmers market. Other than those few hours I’m available to care for your babies needs. I’m trustworthy and clean. I will follow your wishes. I can crate your pet or sleep with it. I currently sleep with my chihuahua and my cat. I love to cuddle with them. My dogs are on a schedule for their medications so I would do the same for babies.

Jessica was wonderful. This was our first experience with a sitter, so I was nervous. She exceeded all of my expectations. Jessica answered all of my questions, was here when she said she would be, played with Bear, took him on nice long walks, sent lots of pictures, and left the house in perfect condition. Thank you so much! We will absolutely have Jessica sit for us again.

Patty was great with our boy Sam. She was patient with him which helped a lot because he is so skittish and afraid of everything. We appreciate that she was willing to sit on short notice and have already asked her to sit when we go away in August. We definitely recommend her as a pet sitter.

About: I've been an enthusiastic lover of all sorts of animals. From the cute and cuddly dogs or cats to the sometimes considered less appealing reptiles and amphibians. I always have had a great low-key type of energy that some more anxious or skittish animals tend to be more receptive to. It helps im very patient and attentive to an animals needs. I, myself have owned Dogs, cats, small mammals and rodents, reptiles, and fish. I am very accommodating to any special care or attention a pet may need. Ive been pet sitting off and on since I was a teenager and have never encountered an animal I wasnt able to care for responsibly and exceed expectations. I can look after larger dogs (100lbs+) as I am 6' with the strength to walk and play with them. I grew up with a 100lb German Shepard and owned a 100lb Rottweiler mix. No pet will deter me. On the flip side I also enjoy smaller dogs that want to be held and/or carried. As I've mentioned I'm an all around animal lover. I generally work 4p to midnight. With that said I have pretty good flexibility and can usually work from home. I ensure pets nourishment and care are well met. I treat the clients home with absolute respect, very tidy and maintain the home as if it were my own. Cleaning up after myself and leaving it in the best condition possible. Making sure the pets area is tidy after eating or playing, cleaning up any messes they may create.

About: I have loved 3 senior dogs over the rainbow. I have a high energy cattle dog. I've had squirrels, cats ,bunnies, roosters, ducks. All that needed individual care at different times. I'm confident administering medicine and giving arthritis massages. I am a college student who just wants some relaxing and fun work around furry friends. I have availability most weekdays and weekends with enough notice. My animals are my babies first and foremost. Other people's animals are also my babies so any care coming from me would be exactly what I would do for my own.

Andrea C. was an absolutely wonderful house- and dog-sitter for our girls, Tootsie-Belle and Tessie-Belle. She kept them on their feeding, play, and snacking schedule so they stayed happy and comfortable throughout. Andrea sent daily reports with updates and photos, and even reached out with a question to make sure she was doing everything exactly as we wanted. When we returned, the house was sparkling clean. Responsible, attentive, and caring—highly recommended!

Courtney has once again done an excellent job taking care of our Sydney girl — She’s a 14 yr old, who acts more like a toddler with lots of quirks, than an old lady. Courtney handles everything like a pro. She checks in with a picture or two every few days, which is perfect for us! We are very pleased 🫶

This is the second time Carol has stayed with Apollo and I felt completely at ease knowing she was with him. She plays with him and takes him for walks but most importantly she comforts him when it thunderstorms. He is extremely anxious when it thunders and she makes him feel safe. I highly recommend her.

Jessica and Brett were absolutely amazing with our pups! Two of our three dogs have trouble with strangers (one is fearful/shy and the other is very wary) and Jessica and Brett went out of their way to make them feel comfortable and earn their trust. I can't say enough good things about the both of them. They sent lots of pictures and updates and totally put us at ease while on our trip. I was anxious to leave them but they were in the best hands! Would 100% recommend them to anyone!

5 Stars - Molly is AMAZING! Molly stayed at our house to watch our dogs, and honestly, she's the best. Our pups absolutely loved her - and that's saying something because they're not easy to impress. She has this natural way with dogs that makes them feel like she's their best friend (which, let's be real, she basically is now). What really got us was how great she communicated throughout the whole time. We got updates, pics of the pack having the time of their lives, and zero stress on our end. She took great care of our home and our dogs like family. Our dogs are already asking when Molly's coming back. Seriously, if your pups need someone they can trust (and someone YOU can trust in your home), Molly's your person. Highly recommend!

FAQs for House Sitting - Inverness Highlands South

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Inverness Highlands South on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 631 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Inverness Highlands South. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Inverness Highlands South walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Inverness Highlands South maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Inverness Highlands South choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Inverness Highlands South. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
