I've rescued and rehabilitated six dogs, three became mine. And I've dog/house-sat for friends & family for decades, and now locally via ROVER for a year; I've loved meeting and caring for every dog I've met. And dogs love my fenced yard and the looong walks we take in the acres of trails and woods around my house! I'm formally educated and experienced in animal behavior and comparative psychology. And as a professional conservation biologist, I've spent my career working to protect all animals and their habitats. Caring for dogs is my heart and soul. I have employed many pet sitters over the years, but Samantha is among the very best of them. She was uniformly wonderful in taking care of my busy household with five dogs and three cats. She has a lovely calm demeanor and is clearly very experienced. She asks detailed questions, makes notes, and fulfills all requests to the letter. When I returned home after a holiday, she left no evidence behind that she had been there at all. It is clear that she loves the pets. She was not at all thrown by the large number of animals. Indeed, she made helpful suggestions to improve the dog training I have done. Her communication skills were great, with regular texts and pictures of the pets while I was away. The pets were all calm and happy, and had clearly had a great time. I was delighted with the service we received from Samantha, and absolutely intend to hire her again.
My dogs were very happy with Samantha! She played with them, loved on them, was right on time with meals and medication’s and pretty much just stayed there with them while I was away. She texted me updates and pictures to assure me they were doing well. It was my first experience with a pet sitter in my home and I was extremely pleased! I will definitely use Samantha again!
Loved having Aunt Sam watch the pups again! So thankful that she sent pics every day so that we felt better about being away from them! So grateful to be able to take trips again knowing our babies are in good hands! Thanks, Sam!
Spencer had a double ear infection right before we had to leave. I was so grateful that Sam was watching him again, because I knew he would be in good hands. He's not the easiest to give meds to, but she made sure he got everything he needed and looked great when we picked him up!

My dog gets extremely stressed with storms and I had left not expecting one and Pepper didn’t have anything to ease her. She kept Sam awake until 3AM. Sam took loving care of my girl. I felt so bad, but Sam said she just felt bad for Pepper and not herself. I will always have medicine available from now on. Thank you Sam.

Schedule
I work from home (complete with a fenced yard) surrounded by many wooded acres for long walks. Dogs welcome day or night, long- or short-term. I'm always here with them. And your dog(s) can either enjoy the company of my two pups, or they can have me, the house, and the yard all to themselves (as my pups love to go stay with their grand-dad down the hill).

Boarding dogs can either meet and play with my two pups or they can have me, the house, and the fenced yard to themselves, which ever you/they prefer. The same applies to day-care for dogs.
Pets
A typical day
With dogs, we go for long walks (at least 30 minutes) on safe, private dirt roads with many fascinating sniff breaks along the way. We also play catch or fetch in my fenced-in yard with balls and rope-toys. Every day ends with a special, healthy freeze-dried liver treat and head scratch or belly rub, as per the dog's preference. Cats get the run of the house including the upstairs loft, with a view out the window and over the entire inside of the house. Cats are always kept safely inside. They get multiple toys and special treats.
