“Jamie and her mom did a great job taking care of our Yorkie, Aria. Aria is a spoiled little princess, and they did a terrific job of communicating with us, keeping us posted while we were gone, and helping us be comfortable while we were away from our pup. Ari is virtually never alone, and certainly not for very long. Having her here was a blessing! We’ll definitely ask her to stay with Ari again!”

“Ashley worked with us to make sure our time was covered. The dogs loved her!! And she sent us nightly pictures and report of the day's adventures. Would highly recommend and I am sure we will try to use her on future sittings. It was a great experience!”

About: I approach all walks of life with an open heart and love. Because of this I believe all critters seek out my affections and makes for fun interactions. I am currently at a cross road in life and looking for new situations that are more fulfilling. I absolutely enjoy spending my time with four legged friends. I have a mostly private fenced in yard with plenty of room for running and playing. I also can provide crates and segregated spots for our friends that need their own space or maybe a little to shy.
“Patty is simply amazing! She communicates so well and sends the best pictures. My dog is well looked after and she even tidied up our house just because. She is so nice and is our favorite pet sitter by far!”

About: I have taken care of animals all my life. I've had dogs to horses. I love them as family just like I love my own children. I'm retired so I have plenty of time to put myself into a job in which I would love. I know I would love your animals as much I love mine. My dogs are very spoiled and very well taken care of and loved by all of my family. So I will show your pets the same love and care as I show my own
“Courtney has once again done an excellent job taking care of our Sydney girl — She’s a 14 yr old, who acts more like a toddler with lots of quirks, than an old lady. Courtney handles everything like a pro. She checks in with a picture or two every few days, which is perfect for us! We are very pleased 🫶”

“What can I say…if I could give Lynda 10 stars ⭐️ I absolutely would!!! She went above and beyond with taking care of my girl, Cinnamon and my home for a week! She kept in contact with me every day and sent me pictures. I highly recommend Lynda to take care of your fur kids and your home. Thank you Lynda and Rover for a great experience and for easing my mind!”

“Taylor is the best. She stayed at our home and took care of our dog who was in love with her. We felt completely relaxed and trusted her completly. We do hope she can spend more time with our dog in the near future.”

“This was our first time using Rover since we moved to Florida. We felt good about using Katelyne after the meet & greet. It was obvious she has a love for dogs. She was prompt arriving, kept us informed throughout the day including sending pics and she gave us a synopsis when we got home. She made sure we didn’t have any questions for before she left. We will use Katelyne again, providing she is available.”

“Andrea C. was an absolutely wonderful house- and dog-sitter for our girls, Tootsie-Belle and Tessie-Belle. She kept them on their feeding, play, and snacking schedule so they stayed happy and comfortable throughout. Andrea sent daily reports with updates and photos, and even reached out with a question to make sure she was doing everything exactly as we wanted. When we returned, the house was sparkling clean. Responsible, attentive, and caring—highly recommended!”

“This is the second time Carol has stayed with Apollo and I felt completely at ease knowing she was with him. She plays with him and takes him for walks but most importantly she comforts him when it thunderstorms. He is extremely anxious when it thunders and she makes him feel safe. I highly recommend her.”

Available for morning, noon time or evening care. Flexible for your convenience. I have a fenced in yard 1.25 acres. We play fetch and have tug of war games. Fresh water always available. My dog is always in a leash if not at home.
“Jessica was the best!!! She went above and beyond to care for my pup! She was punctual and always made sure to give an update with each visit. For someone who is nervous about leaving my pup with a stranger I can say that she calmed my nerves and she no longer feels like a stranger. Will certainly use her services in the future.”

About: I was born into a dog-loving family and throughout my life my parents have always had dogs in our home. Growing up, there came a time when we lost one of our dogs, and our home went from having two furry friends running around to just one. Because of my love for dogs and my desire while growing up was to continue having two dogs in the house, my parents brought home a puppy and made me responsible for helping care for it. From a young age (for me and the puppy), I took an active role in raising and training our puppy. This included taking them outside during the night while working on obedience training throughout the day. And most importantly, I made sure they always felt loved and cared for. As I’ve gotten older my love for animals has only continued to grow, especially with friends and family allowing me to take care of their pets while they are away. This opptoruntiy has given me experience with a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, and even shee! All of these pets have ranged from young animals to older pets with different personalities and needs. I have also needed to follow strict pill schedules in the past as well so I understand the extra level of care needed for sick or elderly dogs. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I would be excited to give your pets the same care and attention I’ve always given my own. I am currently looking for work, so I have a flexible schedule and am able to dedicate plenty of time to taking care of animals' needs. As I apply for other jobs, I will keep my Rover availability updated regularly and make sure my schedule accurately reflects my commitments. Once you book with me, your pet becomes my priority. I will make sure they receive the care, attention, and routine they need based on your specific instructions and their individual needs. My goal is to provide dependable care so you can feel confident knowing your pet is in good hands while you’re away. My care for your pets will be based on the specific instructions and routines you provide. I currently only offer in-home pet sitting, dog walking, and potty/play visits. This way I will always care for your pets in an environment that they are familiar with. Before each booking, I ask that all important pet and house instructions be communicated to me through the Rover app, text, or email. This allows me to make sure I understand your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medications, walking preferences, and any other specific needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 506 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hernando. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hernando walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hernando maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hernando choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
