My dog is picky about people. He immediately felt comfortable with Alison. She is very kind and caring and he felt that as soon as he met her . You can tell she takes such great care of the dogs while you are gone. I saw all her little notes she takes to make sure that she didn’t forget anything. I had a missed flight connection and she responded immediately and was so flexible to add another visit on the spot. I am so glad I found her!

About: I have lived in Tahoe for 25 years and always had my own dog and watched over my friend's dogs throughout the years. My best friend (Maggie - Retriever) passed away 18 months ago and I watch many of my friend's dogs frequently, including an elderly short hair retriever that is battling pancreatic cancer. I work from home and board my friend's dogs as well as check in and walk dogs when owners need help. I do have a number of recent references. I have worked from home for 25 years. I am very active and walk frequently. I am an early morning riser and monitor how often dogs need a walk or outside break. Pets are a part of my daily routine. My home: I have beds set up and recognize different doggy routines, ie need to go on the porch for sun, or need to go out for a break and walk. I have a section on my porch and in the laundry area for their food and water and a special area where I organize all the food, medication, leaches, doggy bags. I have a place by my couches with a large basket with balls, toys and stuffed doggy animals. I watch a number of my friend's dogs, and each has a unique and special routine and they have all come to trust me a look forward to visiting. I stay a bit at some of my friend's houses if they want me to help with house watch, plants, delivery receipt and other home needs while they are traveling and away on extended trips.

About: I have loved and cared for dogs my whole life, including my own senior dog, so I understand how important patience, routine, and gentle care are. I have experience walking, feeding, bathing, playing with, and comforting dogs of different sizes and personalities. I am responsible, calm, and very attentive to each pet’s needs, especially older dogs who may need extra time, love, and careful handling. I will treat every pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owner is away. I am a J1 student currently working at Hyatt. I am available two days a week, and on the days I work, my schedule is usually from 8 AM to 5 PM, so I can also help before or after work when needed. I am looking for an additional job so I can save money and travel, and I would be happy to help with walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and giving your pet attention and care. At this time, I am not able to care for pets in my own home because I live with my landlords, who have their own dog. However, I am very comfortable caring for pets in the client’s home and following their routine closely. I always make sure pets feel safe, calm, and comfortable, and I will carefully follow any instructions about feeding, walks, medication, house rules, and special needs.

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life, from growing up with them to having two Labrador Retrievers of my own. I also spent college as the head caretaker for our bulldog mascot, which required professional training. These days, I work remotely, so I have a lot more flexibility than the typical 9-to-5 sitter. When I’m house sitting, your dog can have plenty of company throughout the day rather than being left alone for hours. I can work from your home, take breaks for walks, and adjust the routine around what your dog is used to. I live in the Tahoe area and spend a lot of my free time outside, so I’m especially happy to get out for walks, hikes, or just some time in the fresh air with an energetic dog. At the same time, I’m equally happy hanging out at home with a senior dog or a pup who would rather spend the afternoon on the couch. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and have experience with senior dogs, daily exercise, and oral medications. My goal is to keep your dog comfortable and on their normal routine while you’re away, take good care of your home, and send enough photos and updates that you know they’re doing well. I’m happy to meet beforehand so we can make sure it’s a good fit and go over your dog’s routine, favorite spots, and anything else I should know. I work remotely and have flexibility on weekdays and weekends to stay at your home full-time or do frequent drop-ins, depending on the client’s preferences. I take the utmost care for a clients space when dog sitting, respecting all guidelines, over communicating as needed, and leaving the space as if I was never there each time. I like to share frequent updates proactively so the owner can be at peace their dog is well taken care of.

About: Hi, I’m Annette! I’m a reliable, attentive dog sitter based in Incline Village with a flexible schedule and a calm, grounded approach to care. My goal is to ensure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and well-attended to, whether through neighborhood walks, quality time at home, or overnight companionship. I focus on providing a peaceful and structured environment for the pets in my care. Because of this, I am a great fit for dogs who enjoy a relaxed pace and steady routine, though I may not be the best match for those requiring highly intensive outdoor exercise or off-leash adventure outings. Being based in Incline Village with a flexible consulting schedule means I can get to most local neighborhoods quickly for drop-ins or walks This allows me to be highly responsive to your pet’s needs, whether that’s a last-minute drop-in or staying at your home to keep your pet company during the day. Since I set my own hours, your pet’s routine becomes my priority. I believe pets are family members who deserve the same respect and care as any other resident. In a client’s home, my priority is maintaining the 'status quo' to minimize stress. I start by learning your pet’s specific cues, favorite hiding spots, and unique quirks. Whether it’s following a precise feeding ritual or ensuring the exact level of evening companionship they are used to, I treat your home and your pet with the utmost integrity. I am naturally observant and communicative, so you’ll receive regular updates and photos that capture your pet’s true comfort level.

About: I absolutely love every pet I meet, and am always willing to put in the effort to make them feel safe and happy. I have 15+ years of experience as a sitter, dog walker, and as a veterinary technician. I also own and operate my own business that focuses on in-home care for nervous and anxious pets (primarily nail trims). I understand that each pet is unique and has its own needs, and am committed to honoring that. I have the patience required to work with any dog, and a pretty flexible schedule. I am an all around animal lover who will treat your fur baby like they were my own, because I know just how important our pets are to us. I’m currently working part time and have the flexibility to work with your pet as needed. I don’t currently offer care in my own home. I treat each pet like they’re my own and honor the unique needs of each pet. I understand that going in to someone’s home is an act of trust, and will always be respectful of that.

  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
