“Lucia is amazing with our cats! We absolutely adore her. One of our cats is usually pretty shy, but with Lucia, she turns into a total lovebug rolling around and completely at ease. We also really appreciate the photo updates and check-ins. It’s such a comfort knowing they’re in such caring hands. Lucia is the best!”

About: I grew up on a farm and always had animals with me, I've taken care of animals my whole. From ducks to dogs!! My life is animals. I'm currently working PT so I have lots of free time after and before work and on weekends I don't work at all! Very open! I love dogs and cats and will care for them if they are or aren't mine! I have rescued many animals and saved them! I am a caring person, i've watched many dogs and cats before, changing water, walks, and following the special requests they give me since all animals are unique. My backyard is a porch that's fenced in.

About: I have taken care of dogs my whole life. I took care of my own and others when needed. I am good with all care for dogs or cats I work for petco part time so I can able to sit during the week. I go to Concordia university so I have flexibility in my class schedule. I am able to keep your dogs company while you are gone. I will keep an eye out of them while they are outside and give them walks myself if needed

About: Hi! I’m Alejandra, a lifelong animal lover and mom to Ford, my Catahoula/German Shorthaired Pointer mix. Growing up around ranch life, I’ve cared for many different animals, so being around them has always felt natural to me. Because Ford is a high-energy working breed, I’m very comfortable handling active dogs that need structure, exercise, and attention. i’ve also had a miniature yorkie so have experience with small dogs as well - and well Ford is obsessed with all dogs! I provide safe, attentive walks amd playtime and always prioritize your dog’s comfort, safety, and routine. I take daily walks with Ford who gets along with other dogs and cats. Whether your pup loves long walks, playtime, or a relaxed stroll, I’ll match their energy and make sure they get the care they need. I’m reliable, communicative, and always send photo updates so you can see your dog happy and having a great time. My goal is simple: make sure every dog returns home happy, relaxed, and well cared for. Im available all day on weekdays and sometimes during the weekends, which allows me to be flexible with exercise, pet care, making homemade dog treats, and making sure your pup has a play and nap schedule. I enjoy staying active and getting outside, and I’m reliable about making sure dogs get the attention, exercise, and care they need. Safety and awareness are always my top priorities when caring for pets. I’ve trained my own dog, Ford, to stay calm and non-reactive on trails and around other dogs, so I’m very comfortable managing different situations during walks. Through that experience, I’ve learned how to read dog behavior and handle a variety of personalities—from high-energy dogs to more cautious or sensitive ones. Whether in my client’s home or out on a walk, I make sure pets feel safe, respected, and well cared for while keeping owners updated with photos and communication.
“Sarah took such great care of our kitties while we were gone! I felt more at ease during holidays with family when I received sweet updates of my babies! Sarah was kind, thorough, and very easy to work with. Thankful for her and I know my kitties are too!”

“Cheryal went above and beyond while taking care of my 3 cats while I was out of town! She sent daily updates and pictures of my kitties and they seemed quite happy and well taken care of when I returned home! She even brought my Amazon packages indoors without me asking her to! I will definitely be booking her pet care services again!”

About: I have always loved fur animals! I was raised having dogs in the home and helping with neighbor pets when I was available. I am trained to care for puppies, small to medium-size dogs and cats. I do work full-time during the week but flexible with timely bookings and advanced notice. I do believe in giving the pets all the tenderness, love, and care they deserve. I do work full-time during the week and do commute daily. However, the early evenings are my available time. I do often have 3 day weekends and open to checking and being with the pets if needed. I do ask to have some flexibility to run errands, and I do attend classes on the weekends if scheduled. I am a grad student. I treat the client's home as my own. I am a very clean, tidy and responsible person. I am open to overnight visits but do request some flexibility depending on my schedule. I am open and available to walk pets as needed once I am back from work or not attending classes.

About: I've always had pets of my own as well as taken care of pets that friends, neighbors, and family have asked me to help out with. I love taking dogs out on walks and cuddling new feline friends. I care for any pet just as lovingly as I do my own. I'm figuring out my next move in life and hoping to surround myself with things that make me happy, which definitely includes pets! I’ll be home here in Austin for at least 2-3 months. In my own home, we've always placed importance on our pets being active. If you have a dog that needs to get out on a daily basis or just needs to be played with around the house, I am so happy to be there for those needs. If your cat just loves to be given attention, I'm your girl! Consistency in a pets food and water routine is also a priority. Sending picture updates while you're away is something I love to do.
About: Dogs have been part of my life since childhood. I grew up in a home where our dogs were family, which is where I first learned to read their cues, respect their needs, and love them without condition. That foundation has stayed with me. Today I’m a dog mom to two of my own, a 2-year-old poodle/corgi and a 5 month-old puppy, so I have hands-on experience with dogs at every stage of life. I understand the patience a puppy needs, the gentleness a senior deserves, and everything in between. I work from home, so your pup will never be left alone for long. Expect regular potty breaks, playtime, lots of love, and photo updates so you always know they’re happy and safe. Your dog is family. They’ll be treated exactly like mine. 🐾 I’m home all day, so your dog is never left alone waiting for someone to come back. I live in a quiet west Austin neighborhood with a backyard for running and playing, plus plenty of nearby trails, parks, and shaded routes for walks and hikes. It's a calm, secure setting where dogs can relax and feel at home. Inside, I follow the dog's lead. Some pups need their own space to decompress, and others want to be glued to our side. Either way, I’ve got them. I live in a house and two dogs of my own in the Bee Cave area. We have a big back yard where we get fresh air and stretch our legs regularly. I’m comfortable with small to large dogs. My home is calm, my dogs are friendly, and you’ll get daily reports of your fur babies and how they’re settling in!
About: I’ve owned 5 dogs, pet sat for a dogs including a senior dog, trained and taken care of my own puppies, and don’t forget also cats! I am fully free to watch any animal at any time, I want this job to benefit me in my career but also as a human being helping you feel comfortable for someone watching your pets. All my dogs are crate trained, knows tons of tricks, and of course spoiled because they deserve it! Although my dogs don’t enjoy little kids very much, it is because they are very protective and unsure, due to my dogs all having a mix of border collie in them. Very protective

Lydia was very responsive and always attentive. This was our first time booking a sitter for our cats, and the first time for our cats to be alone for so long. Lydia put our minds at ease on our trip because our cats were in good hands. Our cats are normally really shy but Lydia was able to put them at ease as well. We hope we can count on her again in the future if need be! Absolutely great service!

Maggie was amazing with our kitties! One of our cat’s has heart failure and is really tricky to give meds to. With a lot of patience to trying out different methods, was able to give him his pills without fail. She was kind and gentle with our cats during the meet and greet as well making us feel confident to have our cats in her care 🐈⬛🐈⬛

I’ve booked Kaia a couple of times now and she’s awesome. She watched my two cats over the holidays, and I couldn’t be more grateful. The photos and updates she sends are always the sweetest, and it’s so clear how much she cares about my kitties and they love her! ☺️ thank you so much, Kaia! 🥹

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
