Kara was amazing when I needed a last minute dog walker. She came everyday on time and communicated when she picked Moose up and dropped him off. She even wrote notes about the walk! I could not have found a better/sweeter friend for Moose that week! Thank you Kara!

Explain pet sitter routine adherence Pet sitter routine adherence means following a pet’s established daily schedule exactly as the owner outlines so the animal experiences consistency, comfort, and stability while their family is away. It’s one of the core pillars of professional pet care because pets rely heavily on predictable patterns to feel safe. Here’s a clear, professional explanation you can use in your policies, website, or client materials: 🐾 What “Routine Adherence” Means in Professional Pet Sitting ⭐ Following the Owner’s Instructions Precisely A professional sitter sticks to the pet’s normal schedule — feeding times, walk durations, medication windows, play preferences, crate routines, and bedtime habits. This reduces stress and keeps the pet’s internal rhythm stable. ⭐ Maintaining Familiar Patterns Pets thrive on predictability. Routine adherence ensures: Meals happen at the same time Walks follow familiar routes Litter boxes are cleaned on the usual schedule Treats and enrichment match the owner’s guidelines Sleep and rest periods stay consistent ⭐ Respecting Behavioral Needs Some pets require structure to feel secure — especially seniors, anxious animals, or pets with medical conditions. Routine adherence helps prevent behavioral issues like pacing, whining, or refusal to eat. ⭐ Supporting Health & Safety Sticking to the routine ensures medications are given on time, dietary restrictions are followed, and physical activity is appropriate for the pet’s age and condition. ⭐ Providing Stability During Owner Absence When everything else changes — the environment, the person caring for them — the routine becomes the anchor. Adhering to it helps pets feel calm, confident, and cared for. Want me to write this as a polished section for your Safety & Environment Policy, Welcome Packet, or Website? I can format it to match your brand voice — professional, warm, or friendly — just tell me the style you want. About: I have always had a big heart for animals since I was a little girl. Constantly helping with my family’s dogs and now that we’re all older and on our own, my siblings still choose me to help oversee care for their dogs when they’re out of town. I have past experience as a vet assistant (little over a year.) With this I have learned just how different each dog, or cat, can be and therefore I can approach care that is best fitted for them :) I’m a flight attendant so I’m gone 4-5 days at a time but tend to be home an average of 15 days a month. With this type of schedule it allows me to have plenty of free time to keep myself active and having a little friend to walk with would just add to it! I’m currently just a cat owner but do go take care of my siblings and parents dogs. They all have big yards that allow for them to play catch with a ball or just sniff around. Also have good areas to walk each of their dogs to keep them moving!

About: I’ve had animals my entire life. From dogs to hermit crabs, kitties to turtles. But dogs have always had my heart the most! (🤫 don’t tell the others) I am a very calm and steady person and have always had a comforting effect on animals and people alike. Caregiving is something I come by naturally. So when I’m given the responsibility to care for someone, I take that very seriously. And I enjoy it! I will make sure your precious fur child feels safe, loved, and has so much fun! And I’m always happy to provide pictures and updates of their adventures along the way! I have a very flexible schedule at the moment. I’m available at most times during the day and able to move around my own schedule when needed. I love taking them for walks, playing with them and giving them lots of attention. I would very much appreciate knowing what your routine is, or what your expectations are for your pets care. I will stick as closely as possible to what your fur baby knows and loves.

About: I’ve had animals my whole life. I grew up on a dairy goat farm. All sorts of dogs, horses, cats, cows, goats, etc. I have had Chihuahuas all the way through German Shepherds. Puppy age all the way through their whole lives. I am the biggest animal (especially dog) lover! I love meeting new personalities. I would spend 24/7 lounging around with my dogs & cats if I could!🩷 I currently have a 16 year old Minature Schnauzer, and an under 1 year old Goldendoodle. My old girl currently takes quite a few medications and likes her alone time. My little man loves to play, be active, and requires hands on often. Therefore, I work with a spectrum of needs. I will make sure your baby has all the play time (or alone/rest time) they need!🩷 I am a professional MMA fighter & bar tend on the weekends! Most of my job consists of being at the gym just a couple hours at a time. And I live 5 minutes away from where I train! It makes spending time with & caring for pets easy and frequent. I only bar tend two days on the weekend (and my boyfriend is home most of that time too 😁 ) Home visits 🏡: In my client’s homes, I can easily care for your pets however you need. I will play games with your furry friends, lounge around with them, etc. I am a very active person & love taking long walks myself, so I would love to do that with your dog if you’d like! I am a reliable, very detail oriented gal. Whatever instructions you leave, I’ll get them done. I love when my clients can come back to a clean, comfortable space after caring for their fur babies. Boarding 🐶: I have a fenced in back yard on a quieter side street. We have an older Miniature Schnauzer, under 1 year old Goldendoodle, and two gentle, quiet cats that lounge around (pretty much keeping to themselves) 🩷 I have plenty of space in my living area to have the zoomies. I have a spare room to give your pet some rest and seclusion too! That means I also have ample room to crate your doggie, if needed. We would love to have your best friend come hang with us 🙂

About: I have owned cats my entire life and our family currently have 6 cats (2 are my daughter’s). We have a Miniature Australian Shepard named Rooney! In the past our family had a Brittany Spaniel named Sydney and a Maltese named Jeter. They have all taught me something different, not to mention that just when you think you KNOW everything about animals, you learn something new! 🤣🐾 When it comes to experience, I have my 18-year old daughter to thank for introducing me to the pet care field and helping to grow my experience with farm animals (horses, goats, pigs, donkeys, sheep, chickens, ducks, and the occasional stray barn cat🥰🐾) as well as cats and dogs. Going along with Emma made me realize that this is something I want to do all of the time! So whether you have cats, dogs, caged animals/reptiles, or more, I’d love to help take care of them while you are away. Giving you peace of mind while making your pets feel safe and loved is my number one priority. I take pride in being a kind, honest, and trustworthy adult that would love to earn the loyalty of your commitment as one of your regular pet sitters. Your pets are as important to me as they are to you while you are away. I will check, recheck and then check again to make certain every step has been followed to ensure that your loved ones are well cared for, while looking out for anything that might be “off”. You can’t be too careful and sometimes an animals’ “signs” for need or distress can be quite subtle. So I never just pop in and out, but rather I facilitate well-visits! That means carefully following your detailed instructions and care notes. I always welcome as much input from you, along with a Meet and Greet prior to caring for your fur babies, so you can introduce us, help create trust, and provide me with the important details of your day-to-day routine. This helps me to best provide routine and structure (mixed with lots of spoiling and extra treats) for your little ones. Looking forward to meeting you and your fur babies! 🥰🐾💝 I work full time as a teacher and tutor during the week, but Friday evening and weekends are wide open for helping you take a weekend getaway or enjoying an all-day getaway without your fur baby being left alone. I know how hard it is for me to leave my pets. The few trips I’ve taken were only possible because of caring neighbors that watched our cats/dog and sent lots of pictures for reassurance! ❤️ I am a rule-follower and will use your detailed directions to take care of your fur/feather/hair babies just as you describe! It’s my main goal to make your pets feel safe, loved and cared for while giving you peace of mind so your absence is a treat for both of you! 🎉🧁🍭🦴🍖

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and there's nothing I enjoy more than making pets feel safe, loved, and right at home while their families are away. To give some insight on my experience, I have volunteered at my local humane society, caring for both dogs and cats. I then spent some time as a kennel attendant at a dog boarding facility where I cared for dogs with all kinds of personalities and needs. That experience alone taught me the importance of patience, routine, and attention to detail, especially when it comes to special diets and individualized care. Over the years, I've also been the go to pet sitter for friends and family, caring for dogs and cats of all ages. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or extra cuddles, I'm happy to match their routine and make sure they feel comfortable. At home, I'm owned by my sweet gray cat, Misty. Keeping her happy has made providing constant love and companionship second nature. When your pet is with me, they're not just being watched, they're being cared for like one of my own. I can't wait to meet your furry family member!! 🤍 I'm currently working full time in the restaurant industry. 90% of the time my schedule is 4pm-11:30pm Fri-Teu leaving some midday and late night availability. Please don't hesitate to reach out if your request falls outside of my availability as I may be able to accommodate if there's enough time ahead. I look forward to meeting you and your furry pet! 🤍 I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where every pet receives personalized care based on their routine and needs. I carefully follow feeding schedules, administer medications if needed, ensure plenty of exercise and give endless affection. In clients' homes, I respect their space, maintain their pet's normal routine, and provide regular updates with photos for peace of mind.

About: I grew up with dogs and I have owned a dog for 40+years. I raised German Shepard and Pitbulls. Sadly, I lost both my Pitbulls last year. I love to walk dogs and snuggle as well. I am a retired teacher. I am trustworthy and understand the importance of loving and caring for all dogs. I am retired so I have flexibility. I am very busy with my grandchildren, but again, I am flexible. I will keep pets over night. I live in a condo and the community welcomes pets and there are all kinds of breeds. There is a nice grass area to walk the dogs with a lovely paved 1 mile loop to walk through a beautiful community.

About: I will care for your pets as if they are my own. I have over ten years of experience pet sitting for friends and family, as well as extensive experience in cat rescue, including fostering more than 80 cats and kittens and working with TNR/community cats. I’m also experienced in administering medications and caring for pets who may need a little extra attention. I currently stay home while taking online classes, which gives me a flexible schedule and the opportunity to give your pets plenty of attention throughout the day. Whether that means potty breaks, walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply some extra company, I’m happy to work around your pet’s individual routine and needs. I have two boys, ages 5 and 8, who have been around dogs and cats their entire lives. They are very respectful of animals and their boundaries, but also love to play with pets who enjoy the extra attention! We typically go for daily walks and love spending time outside. Most importantly, I know how much trust it takes to leave your pets with someone else. I want you to feel comfortable knowing that I’ll care for them with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. I am currently at home full time. I am never away for more than 2 hours at a time. This gives me the ability to give your pet extra attention, exercise, play time and potty breaks. Your pet will be loved and cared for as it is in your home. I like to get to know their personal routine so I can keep it as close as possible to that while they are in my care.

Emily has been an incredible dog walker. She always showed up in time and left a well detailed report after each walk. Very honest; I somehow accidentally double booked a reoccurring walk and she let me know asap. Would highly recommend Emily if you are looking for a regular dog walker.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
