About: I have been taking care of animals my whole life (mine and the animals of people I love). I am passionate about animals of all kinds and have experience caring for animals of all ages, medical needs, and temperaments. I currently have a puppy and two cats (one with medical needs). I’ll care for your furbabies with the same attention I care for mine. I am a classical violinist, so my working hours usually occur Thursday - Sunday. I am usually free all day Monday - Wednesday, allowing me a lot of flexibility to visit your pet when and however often you need me to. I know how important it is for your pet to be treated and cared for with the specific instructions you require. I will take great care to follow everything to a “T” and care for your babies the way I care for my own. I am extra cautious about pet safety (opening and closing doors, leash security, environmental awareness on walks, etc.)
“First time I’ve had someone on Rover come to my house but Kearsten was amazing!! We have a dog that has medical issues and also a cat with cancer. She was very helpful with them and knew exactly how to take care of them thanks to her vet background. She also brought some treats to help with giving our cat his medicine which was soo sweet! I cannot stress how much I recommend her!!”
“Izzy was fantastic as always! She has watched our fur babies many times and they are so comfortable around her. She always makes sure she keeps us updated on how they are doing, which completely sets our minds at ease when we are away. The best decision was finding Izzy and entrusting her with our cats' care!”

“Sam took great care of my cat while on vacation. She always communicated clearly and promptly! She was happy to accommodate any special requests as well. I was relieved to know that she would be checking in daily. Will definitely use Sam before anyone else when planning my next trip.”

“She was always on time and easy to communicate with. Great with my feline and left in-app notes to let me know how the visit went if there were any issues/concerns. Def recommend to others!”

“Jeanette was absolutely wonderful! She was very easy to communicate with and went well beyond than just taking care of our pets. This was my fist time hiring a pet sitter and I definitely made the right choice trusting Jeanette with my home and pets. I will definitely hire her again when away on vacation. Highly satisfied and highly recommend!”

“Gregory is awesome! My dog Archie has a hard time warming up to new people and Gregory was patient, kind, and understanding. Gregory gave frequent updates at the first drop-in and worked with Archie until Archie warmed up. Now they are pals. Couldn’t have gone better!”

“Huntter is absolutely fantastic!!! He came over before the visit to walk through everything and meet the kitties. He is very smart and easy to talk to, and picked up on all of our routines and instructions very easily. When it came time for the trip, Huntter was incredibly punctual and communicative. He sent pics, took amazing care of our cats, and also some various other things our house needed while we were gone for a week. We came home to everything looking perfect, and most importantly, two very happy healthy kitties! We HIGHLY recommend Huntter and we are so thankful for the wonderful care for Peach and Ripple!”

“Rachel did a wonderful job taking care of our cat and keeping us updated while we were out of town! She is very sweet and makes leaving your fur babies behind a little easier. Highly recommend!”

“This is the second booking that I’ve had with Kari and will continue to book if she’s available. She’s fantastic, has great communication and is proactive. I refer to her as Aunt Kari to the cats. ♥️”

About: I have over a decade of dedicated experience in animal care, beginning with a lifetime of raising family cats and dogs. For 12 years, I was the proud owner of a British Bombay. My formal experience includes a 10-year tenure as a volunteer at the Southern Pines Animal Shelter in Hattiesburg, MS, where I assisted with kennel maintenance, exercise programs, and medical care, including administering vaccinations,. Currently, I am expanding my professional expertise by working towards AKC certifications to ensure the highest standard of care for every pet I work with. I am currently working a full-time job, but I have some flexibility. My availability for house sits is wide open. My availability for drop-ins & walks: - All day Tuesday, Thursday, & Sunday - Monday & Wednesday 6 am - 10 am - Friday & Saturday after 6 pm I have a large fenced in back yard and a friendly pitbull to keep your dog company. I can easily separate the animals if necessary and or crate your dog.
About: I grew up with lots of pets! I have taken care of cats/kittens, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, fish, and horses! I currently live with an 18lb hunk of a cat named Tigger, who has some chronic health needs. I also volunteer taking care of a small herd of goats (and their guard dog) on Maclellan Island. While newer to the official pet-sitting world, I have the skills and experience to care for your fur babies 😍 I work full-time (M-F, 8-5), so my availability is limited on weekdays. I'm fairly flexible on Mondays (wfh), and other weekdays I'm only available for drop-ins/walks early in the morning (6-7am) or later in the evenings (after 5:30pm). Weekends are pretty flexible as long as I have advanced notice! My home is my cat's domain, so I cannot host other furry friends in my house. I am a highly responsible and consciousness person and will be a good steward of your home and property when walking or dropping in on your pets!

“For my first time using Rover, I could not have expected someone so efficient, kind, responsive, and caring as Gretchen. She was able to pick up my last minute booking for Christmas weekend this year when my original pet care plans fell through, and the relief was immense. She was quick to set up a video call since the timeframe didn’t allow for meeting in person, and asked all the right questions about caring for my pet and what to expect. Of course I was nervous, but Gretchen has this demeanor that will just reassure you, and she did. My dog and I are rarely apart and never for that long, so her check ins were my lifeline. Nothing made me happier than seeing the photos she’d send of him (sometimes upwards of 16! ♥️). I remember thinking how great the photos turned out, some seeming professional, like how’d she do that ! I still have them all. Him zooming, him outside, her TAKING HIM ON WALKS, sitting with him, and playing with toys. She even brought treats for him when she came. I left puppy pads down for any extra messes outside of her scheduled visits and to my surprise she even cleaned up and replaced the dirty ones over the course of the weekend! More than just myself, I know my dog appreciated seeing her come through and the time/effort she spent with him. Every time he comes inside from going out now he grabs up a toy to play like she did with him. You know that feeling when someone’s service is just beyond your wildest expectations? And you’re just so relieved and grateful for the treatment. The kindness? Their work. Forever grateful for Gretchen this Christmas, and will be reaching out to her first for any of my sitting needs.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hixson. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
